In this article Dmitry Trubotchkin focuses on Homer's Iliad as directed by Stathis Livathinos and premiered in Athens on 4 July 2013 as part of the Athens and Epidaurus Summer Festival – as far as is known, the first production of the complete Iliad in world theatre. It was performed by fifteen actors, each of whom played several roles and also acted the role of the ancient rhapsode, or narrator of epics. Livathinos's Iliad restored the original understanding of ‘epic theatre’, which differs from what is usually meant by this term in the light of Brechtian theory and practice with its didactic and distancing emphases. In the Greek performance, the transformation of an actor from one role to another and from acting to narration is constant, and the voice of Homer as a ‘collective author’ can be heard through all these transformations. Livathinos's Iliad may well be a landmark, indicating a new way of presenting epics on the stage. Dmitry Trubotchkin is Professor of Theatre Studies at the Russian University of Theatre Arts (GITIS) and an invited Professor at the Faculty of Arts of the Moscow State University. He heads the Department of Ancient and Medieval Art at the State Institute for Art Studies in Moscow. His publications include ‘All is Well, the Old Man is Still Dancing’: Roman Palliata in Action (2005), Ancient Literature and Dramaturgy (2010), and Rimas Tuminas: the Moscow Productions (forthcoming).

The article is devoted to the consideration of the role of student support in the adaptation of the Finn-ish short-term program of skills formation “Skilful Class” on the territory of Russia. The program is realizing in Russian educational organizations within the framework of joint projects of Moscow State University of Psychology & Education and Helsinki Brief Therapy Institute. The implementation of projects is realizing with the accompaniment of student-mentors, whose participation, presumably, has a positive effect on the effectiveness of the “Skilful Class” program. The article considers the in-teraction between children and student-mentors from the point of view of their generational commu-nity, as well as the creation of a supportive community in the process of skill formation. Information about the methodological basis of the program is given and the 15-step algorithm of its action is de-scribed, with the rationale for the participation of student-mentors in its implementation. A number of psychological problems for the prevention of which the program is used by foreign and Russian specialists are indicated.

This first part of the interview with Dr Dinara V. Dubrovskaya — a Sinologist, art critic, journalist and author, editor-in-chief of the Oriental Courier magazine and, since 2021, head of the Department of Oriental History at IOS RAS — is timed to coincide with her 60th anniversary. The conversation touches on questions of education in Asiatic studies at the Institute of Asian and African Countries at the Lomonosov Moscow State University; the role of Oriental studies in society in the late 20th and early 21st centuries; and some peculiarities of the development of Oriental studies in the Soviet and post-Soviet times. The interview talks about the most prominent scholars Dr Dubrovskaya worked with, the special aspects of Oriental studies, and raises some controversial questions of gatekeeping in humanities, as well as the global phenomena of Orientalism and “Occidentalism”.

The article is dedicated to the memory of Mikhail Konstantinovich Treushnikov, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Scientist, Head of the Department of Civil Procedure of the Law Faculty of the Lomonosov Moscow State University. The article analyzes the methodology of teaching civil procedure, focuses on the methodology of lecturing, seminars, and game processes. Mikhail Konstantinovich paid great attention to the methodology of teaching civil procedure. The author of the article offers a study of the section “Methods of Teaching Law” from the book “Creative Search in the Science of Civil Procedure Law” by M.K. Treushnikov published in 2020. This section presents methodological recommendations on how to prepare and give lectures for newly elected judges at the republican training courses for legal officers on two subjects: “Preparation of civil cases for trial is a mandatory stage of the process”, “Types of evidence in civil proceedings”. The other two articles in this section are devoted to different issues. One is devoted to the methodology of teaching law in non-law universities (on the example of Moscow State University), the other is written on the basis of a speech “Traditions and Innovations in Legal Education” at the conference meeting of the heads of the departments of social sciences of the Lomonosov Moscow State University on 16 February 2007 and shows the role of departments in solving the problems of legal education.

The article describes the first official meetings between the leaders of the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering, BRE Global Limited and the Russian Green Building Council in Moscow on the topic of the localization of the Building Research Establishment's Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) to for the Russian Federation. It outlines the main steps taken and the actions to be undertaken of the parties to those proposed activities. Then a brief overview is provided of the main aims of the partners’ organisations, their positions in the countries and their purposes. The main part of the article summarises the benefits of an international “green” standard. There is an introduction to the National Scheme Operators, the processes involved in the BREEAM schemes and the role assessors play. The main intention for the article is to show the potential for synergy when connecting the country’s largest organisations involved in sustainable construction.

The research analyzed the biography of the editors of the newspaper of the 2nd Moscow State University "Za Leninym" as well as their role in the management of the publication. We used archival documents of the 2nd Moscow State University which have not been studied before. The newspaper "Za Leninym" was published from 1926 to 1930. Its editors were students and employees of the 2nd Moscow State University. In the 1920s of the twentieth century university mass media were established. There was an acute shortage of professionals who could help the large-circulation press to reach a professional level. The study found that media played an important ideological, informative, and educational role. The newspaper "Za Leninym" was no exception. The leadership of the 2nd Moscow State University was genuinely interested in publishing a newspaper, the editorial board was appointed, the issues of the newspaper and the content of "Za Leninym" were repeatedly discussed. The role of newspaper editors in its development and improvement of the quality of the content of materials and layout was also crucial. Especially it is interesting to learn about the editors who really made a big contribution into science and in the history of the country (Y. Uranovsky, A. Bagdasarov, Y. Bugaysky). Thanks to the editors the newspaper which they wanted to close at its very beginning really took off and was being published regularly until 1930 under the name "Za Leninym", and since 1931 under the name "Kultarmeets".

The article develops the idea formulated by Olga Iosifovna Blinova, professor of Tomsk State University, according to which lexicography is one of the methods of studying vocabulary. The material of the study included: (1) theoretical works by Olga Blinova, (2) her lexicographic works, (3) lexicographic experiments of the author of the article and their theoretical understanding, (4) works of other authors on related issues. The main research method used in the article is a comparison of concepts and principles of their implementation in different authors to identify the features of Blinova’s lexicographic theory and practice. The author interprets lexicographizing of a word as a specific approach to the description of its semantics, as a way of its modeling, which consists in its discretization – transformation of continuous semantic space of the language into notional quanta, clots of meaning. In the study, this method is contrasted with other methods of language modeling found in applied language descriptions: in the methods of language teaching, in translation and in compilation of computer programs on a linguistic basis in particular. Much attention is paid to the concept of lexical parameterization, which occurs in the process of lexicographic modeling of the semantic reality of the language. The most important principle of semantics modeling is the parameterization of the meaning of a word and vocabulary in general. The article discusses the features of parameterization in explanatory dictionaries against the background of their opposition to other types of dictionaries: encyclopedic, motivational dictionaries, dictionaries of everyday interpretations of words and frequency dictionaries. To identify these features, the definitions of words in explanatory and encyclopedic dictionaries are analyzed. Such important trends in modern lexicography as overcoming the absolutization of the discreteness of semantics and its simplified definition are analyzed. The article explores the tendency of lexicography to an antropocentric modeling of semantics in dictionaries, a particular manifestation of which is the representation of the content of a word as a conceptual content. In more detail, the article highlights the specifics of the motivational dictionary – one of the main lexicographic works by Blinova, who developed the concept of this type of dictionary and implemented it in practice by creating the Motivational Dialect Dictionary. The final section of the article analyzes Blinova’s idea about the possibility of implementing a project of a complex dictionary, in which the meaning of each word is considered in the mirror of a set of parameters which together give a systematic idea of the functioning, semantics and linguistic connections of the word. The article draws conclusions about the role of Blinova’s theoretical heritage for semasiology, dialectology and lexicography of the Russian language.

The article is dedicated to the memory of an outstanding scholar and economist, Nikolai Tsagolov, the 110 anniversary of his birth. Special emphasis is paid to the role of methodology in the development of a new paradigm of economic theory and methodological seminar as an essential tool for processing theorists’ factual material, which was effectively used by N. Tsagolov. The article describes the structure of the methodological seminar for many years operating at the department of political economy of the Economics faculty of Moscow State University. The author emphasizes the collective nature of scientific work aimed at rational organization of labor. Attention is also drawn to the risks inherent in the widespread use of methodological techniques as well as the issues which require the attention of social theorists.
