This presentation deals with the current status of dance studies in Germany, focusing particularly on the situation in Baden-Württemberg, the home state of the internationally renowned Stuttgart Ballet. Whereas German dance companies enjoy some of the highest subsidies in the world, and freelance dancers in Germany benefit from privileges in the German social system, dance is not an independent subject of study at any level of the German educational system. The strong discrepancies in educational, cultural, and social policy on dance are indicative of the limits to and disagreements within symbolic meaning ascribed to dance. The relevant areas of policy will be presented, as well as the historical factors in the development of these discrepancies. A discussion of the role of gendering in the ascription of symbolic meanings to dance follows, especially considering current developments regarding community building and social justice.

This article «From Ladder and Thread to Heaven: The Symbolic Meaning of the Path in a Fragment of the Linguistic World Image» explores the problem of the analysis of folk customs. These customs could be verbalized both in folk texts and in dialects. The specifics of this study lie in the linguistic analysis of the symbols which are usually interpreted as folk customs and folk objects. However, the symbolism of the objects in national customs causes the development of a symbolic meaning of the respective word that defines these objects. In this way, many symbols in folk customs become verbal, and the context of the custom creates a foundation for the development of the symbolic meaning. The verbal symbols analyzed are a «thread», a «ball of twine», a «ladder», a «bridge» and a «cross». In the national Ukrainian linguistic space, these words have the general semantics of the ‘connection between worlds’. It is stressed that the symbolic meaning of the (celestial) ladder has been discovered in the biblical context. This is also relevant for the clarification of the subject of continuity in the development of the symbolic meanings, which are also documented in the Ukrainian context. A concrete situation in linguistics and custom creates conditions under which arise symbolic co-meanings that develop in the framework of the same main symbolic archetypical meaning. All analyzed symbols belong to the archetypical ones. That is why they have been also discovered with the same semantics in other languages. This is the reason why the analysis of such symbols requires not only facts documented in the dictionaries and texts in Ukrainian, but also information about the respective symbol in other linguistic cultures. It is also pointed out that the thread is analyzed as an apotropaic symbol. This word has also been documented linguistically as a symbol of the demarcation line between one’s own world and the world of «others».

This chapter deals with LOHAS in the context of “community-building” and the formation of a collective conscience. LOHAS is ultimately a narrative about how to change the world using consumer culture. The lens of globalization is used to examine how LOHAS attempts, on the one hand, to overcome a legacy of anthropocentrism, Eurocentrism, cultural and economic imperialism, and Westernization in capitalism, while, on the other hand, self-consciously reinforcing the capitalist imperative to sell more and different things to more people. As a market-based movement and as a claim to a reformatory effort, LOHAS is only as successful as the quantity of consumers and producers that support its premises. With its sweeping global agenda, LOHAS texts try to position the concept as a nonpartisan movement, one based on commonalities rather than differences. This chapter is a study of the rise of community and collectivity in LOHAS culture, which is chiefly occurring through mediated means, particularly through social media. It historicizes LOHAS within social movements, examining the importance of media and the central role of communication in democratic efforts. This sets the stage for a closer look at the ways in which media and market enable and disable participation in the communication process. An important part of this is the working of ideology in the construction of truth claims.

Endowment in undoubtedly one of legal cases that its similarities can’t be seen in ay social system especially legal judicial system of countries in the world, because based on written rules of all countries and even ourselves ownership has had especial condition and based on specific regulations ownership of people isn’t deprived. Cities basically tend to development and achieve specific geographical titles in the direction of development that each one has concept for district but this urban growth is related with active role of performance of any city.By increasing population in Rasht city due to centrality of province physical and spatial growth of a city became a lot and has changed spatial development of activities of suburb severely and is effective n land use change legally and illegally, as productive functions and natural spaces have been destructed and potential and actual resources are reduced. In many ways “Dance Studies” has in recent years become synonymous with a kind of theoretical writing that is heavy on poststructuralist philosophy but often curiously disconnected from the intentions and everyday practices of dancers and choreographers. In this presentation I intend to examine this issue by investigating and analyzing the essays that make up the book Of the Presence of the Body: Essays on Dance and Performance Theory (edited by Andre Lepecki), through the lens of a course I am teaching that steeps second-year M.F.A. dance students in the world of dance theory. What is the role of “dance” in these essays? Is there a clear demarcation between feminine and masculine approaches to the theorized space of dance writing? In what ways does dance theory perform its own authority? How can the values of practitioners inform the scholarship of theorists? If there is a voice of dance theory, to whom is it speaking, and on whose behalf?

In this paper I will look at the controversy surrounding the current status of English in the world. I will consider the question of whether the dominant role of English as a lingua franca (ELF) is a menace to other languages, to multilingual communication and to the profession of translation and interpreting, or whether a positive evaluation of the omnipresence of English as a default means of communication can be justified. I will argue for a compromise position: neither demonizing global English nor welcoming it uncritically. I will support this stance from different perspectives, drawing on my own work on ELF and translation.

This research is dedicated to examination of a specific role of landscape in symbolism. Based on comprehensive analysis of the works of symbolists and artists of their circle – Segantini, Böcklin, Gauguin, Nesterov, Čiurlionis, the author attempts to determine the characteristic features of using the images of nature in the overall system of pictorial artistic-aesthetic expression. Special attention is paid to the problem of inscription of human figures into landscape, as in doing so many symbolists and artists of their circle were bringing the landscape to life, forming a special creative space. Landscape of symbolists is viewed as a peculiar animated space that carries a mediating role between the visually palpable images and indescribable pleroma of metaphysical being. Such approach to symbolism is considered innovative. In the course of this research, it is demonstrated that special artistic space as a carrier of symbolic meanings or a spirit of symbolism in painting emerges in each painters a set of artistic means of expression characteristic only to their works. At the same time, some symbolists view the unreachable in external forms of visible nature by focusing attention of the opposition of earth and sky, life and death, human and divine beginning, reality and its mythological grounds. Some symbolists create the world of practically abstract and musically accented color forms and graphic solutions. While others paint landscape imbued with tranquility, tenderness and picturesque hymns of the Creator. In general, symbolic landscape leans towards a fairly vivid philosophical aspect.

Background: India is fast becoming the diabetic capital in the world according to a recent report. Patients with diabetes are at increased risk of mortality due to diabetic complications, which has enormous implications for the health budget. Objectives: The main objective of this review is to provide an overview of the work carried out in the world, including modern and traditional approaches for the prevention and management of diabetes and reducing the chances of onset of further complications via cost-effective lifestyle interventions and integrative medicine. Material and Methods: We performed a literature search from various databases like PubMed, Scopus, Google scholar, etc., using the keywords diabetes, prediabetes, MCI and prediabetes, diabetes and yoga, diabetes. Results: Upon reviewing the published articles, it was noticed that one of the most neglected complications of diabetes, namely cognitive dysfunction, which is characterized by a pattern of vascular dementia and Alzheimer disease (AD), has been largely ignored, and there has been no large study investigating the role of yoga intervention in diabetes and/or associated cognitive impairment. Conclusion: The review article opens new paradigms for researchers to evaluate the connection between diabetes and AD through a yoga-based national campaign on diabetes. This paves the way towards the goal of integrative medicine.

The Russian experience of regional governance includes the strategizing and programming of social and economic development as indispensable part. However the efficiency of the existing measures is assessed ambiguously which requires their correction taking into account the role of the large-scale business in the regions of Russia. The statistically based position of large-scale business in the world and in Russia is compared by means of the analysis of the legislation and the location of the sector in strategic (and methodological) papers. During the analysis of the legislation in the Rostov region, the objective character of business understanding in the regional strategy was stated. The absence of the analysis of numerous economic agents (only large “industries” were used) was shown. The attribution of economic goals of a region of Russia (administrative unit) was found out. The absence of the analysis of strategies of large-scale business located in the region, their position in the locality and the role of the region in the strategy of largescale business was stated. The risks of such an approach were shown. They include limitation of the strategy efficiency, absence of “feedback” of the region on the implementation of strategies by large-scale business and absence of the mechanism of the involving the resources of such business into the development and modernization. The measures of institutional and organizational character for the involvement of large scale-business resouces into the development of the regions on the basis of the account of the strategic positions of large companies are provided.
