With the changes made in the new US Standards for Classical Language Learning, pedagogy needs to develop to better meet the updated standards for student learning. One of the major changes is that reading Latin is no longer the sole pursuit of a high school Latin class (Standards, 2017; Natoli, 2018). The new standards recognise that students learn in diverse ways and that students need to learn about and interact with the cultures they are studying.

In accordance with the 2013 curriculum structure the school established chemistry as a cross-interest subject. Chemistry becomes a difficult subject because it involves skills and reasoning in learning it. To overcome the low learning outcomes across the interests of chemistry, this study establishes the aim is to find out: (1) whether the application of diagnostic assessments can improve student learning outcomes in cross-interest subjects in senior high school; and (2) how to carry out diagnostic assessments in improving student learning outcomes in these subjects. The references used in this classroom action research were the action research of the Zubert Skerritt Ortrun model. The data needed in this study are the results of the initial ability test, the results of the tests at the end of the subject matter; observation of student attitudes in learning, as well as observations of the implementation of learning. The use of diagnostic assessment in chemistry learning can improve student mastery learning from 16.7% to 66.7% in the first cycle, and from 47.2% to 86.1% in the second cycle, and from 63.9% to 91.7 % in cycle III. Diagnostic assessment based on learning material that is difficult for students is found in cycle I (redox), cycle II (electrolysis), and in cycle III (Faraday's law and corrosion) successively is a redox solution with oxidation number, metal analysis that can react, and corrosion sequence analysis that occurs in an experiment. All three are at the cognitive level 3 (reasoning).

This study consisted of three cycles of 5 students, consisting of 2 female students and 3 students. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely plan (planning), act (action), observe (observation), and reflect (reflection). While data collection is done by observation, interviews, and documentation. Inductive, deductive, and TDF statistical analysis. The results of this study indicate: Iqro learning process using the Quantum Learning method can take place well in three cycles and is carried out in 6 stages, namely fostering student attitudes, getting used to reading, getting used to writing, structuring the learning environment, training children's memory, training children to learn creatively . From this stage, the aim is to invite students to learn actively, dynamically, communicatively and happily. So that the learning process is not felt as formal saturating space. In another aspect, the application of methods in presenting student learning evacuation as something that seems interesting and challenging. With the application of the Quantum Learning method can help teachers in fixing the weaknesses of teaching and student learning, namely simplification of theory into mind mapping (concept map ) so the learning material is easy to remember. Besides that, this method can also be applied to language learning and other subject areas.
