Abstract: This article considers three different concepts of the role of the teacher. Buber understands the teacher as the builder-teacher of a dialogical community playing a fundamental role in the character formation of individuals. Freire develops this notion, adding a political tinge, and argues for a political-teacher who plays a central role in the formation of critical individuals and in the liberation of the oppressed. Gur-Ze’ev is critical of Freire and defends the improviser-teacher, who is always critical and encourages criticisms, but without reference to utopias. The article compares and assesses critically these concepts of the role of the teacher; and indicates the implications of adopting them, not only for education, but also for society more generally.

This paper aims to examine the role of class teachers in character formation through a thematic learning process. The method used in this discussion is the library research. The library is one of the sources of reference in this discussion by examining various sources from books, magazines, journals, and others for the topics of the relevant discussion. The results of the discussion make it clear that the role of the class teacher in character formation through thematic learning in elementary schools must be implemented through the implementation of character education in all subjects. Namely through exemplary and habituation exemplified by the teacher himself. Promoting character values through thematic learning includes, among other things, inserting character values into the lesson plans and preparing media, methods, teaching materials and assessment sheets.. As supporting material, there are routine activities in the form of 15-minute lectures by the teacher in class every Friday.

This study explores the experiential dimensions of apprenticeship and work as part of the adolescent life phase in fourteenth-century Montpellier on the basis of approximately two hundred surviving notarial contracts. The strong role of family in apprenticeship of young men and women, the acquisition of specific occupational skills, character formation, and the well-being of the apprentice/worker are discussed. Apprenticeship for Montpellier youth represented a lengthy (early teens to late twenties) and elaborate transition between childhood and adulthood.

The epistemology of monotheism offered by philosophers has given inadequate attention to the kind of foundational evidence to be expected of a personal God whose moral character is agapeic, or perfectly loving, toward all other agents. This article counters this deficiency with the basis of a theistic epistemology that accommodates the distinctive moral character of a God worthy of worship. It captures the widely neglected agonic, or struggle-oriented, character of a God who seeks, by way of personal witness and intentional action, to realize and manifest agape among humans who suffer from selfishness. In doing so, the article identifies the overlooked role of personifying evidence of God in human moral character formation. In agreement with some prominent New Testament themes, the new perspective offered ties the epistemology of monotheism to robust agapeic morality in a way that makes such epistemology ethically challenging for inquirers about God’s existence. Accordingly, such theistic epistemology will no longer be a candidate for ethically neutral, spectator reflection.

This study focuses on children's popular fairy tales which are indicated to carry gender issues in the elements of story building. This study aims to: (1) identify gender issues that are subtly aired through popular children's fairy tales; and (2) know the role of parents in dealing with gender issues. This study applied a qualitative method using three popular children's tales as a source of data, namely Putri Salju dan Tujuh Kurcaci, Bawang Merah Bawang Putih, and Keong Mas. The results of the study indicate that several gender issues are subtly exhaled concerning gender bias which is not yet suitable for consumption by childhood. Therefore, the function of parents as guides and filters of children's reading sources is very important so that they can make fairy tales as a means of character education and ignore the elements of the story that are not by their character education and character formation.

This research is about the role of the attitude of community support for healing and positive character formation in the transgender community in Surakarta. This research was conducted with the aim of knowing the background of someone who has become a transvestite, what factors behind a person become a transvestite, as well as responses and the role of the attitude of community support for healing and positive character formation of the existence of transgender communities in Surakarta City. This research is qualitative with analytical descriptive method supported by quantitative data. Data collection methods used are in-depth interviews, observation, and literature. This study found that people in general have a tendency to respond negatively. This can be seen from the attitude of the people who are ignorant, do not care or let the behavior occur. Being a transvestite is a choice that is categorized as deviant, but it is necessary to know that there are factors that cause a person to become a transvestite such as internal (psychological) factors and environmentally influenced external factors such as lack of employment and ineffective socialization by the government. Basically the decision to become a transvestite can be changed or cured. But to make it happen, of course cooperation from the community and the government is needed, including through efforts to eliminate the stigma that has been embedded in the community. One of the most appropriate ways to eliminate this stigma is through participatory approach by involving the government to help change the mindset of the perpetrators and the community. Just as a few people have begun to understand the complexity of this problem, they provide a place for transvestites or transgender to be able to take advantage of their time by shifting the focus of their activities into something positive and slowly trying to make them aware that the behavior they have done so far is wrong and deviates from their natural rules as living creatures of God's religious creation.
