Abstract Background In an era of an increasingly ageing society, part of healthcare for older adults can be provided in patients’ homes, and the need for home health care services (HHCSs) is increasing. This study sought to determine whether a gap exists between the views of community health professionals and the caregivers of disabled older adults towards HHCSs in Beijing, China. Methods A cross-sectional study with two comparative questionnaire surveys was conducted in Beijing, China. One survey was administered to the caregivers of disabled older adults, and the other was administered to health professionals in community health service institutions (CHSIs). T-tests and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests were used to explore potential differences between the views of caregivers and community health professionals towards HHCSs. Results We received 370 valid questionnaires from caregivers and 224 questionnaires from health professionals. Of the 370 caregivers, 314 (84.9%) were willing to apply for HHCSs for the older adults, but only 20.5% (N = 76) received HHCSs. Over 80% of the caregivers accepted out-of-pocket costs less than 100 yuan per visit. Caregivers’ demands on home nursing services were significantly higher than those of health guidance services (Z = − 7.725, P < 0.001). Most of the 224 health professionals chose “health professionals’ personal safety cannot be guaranteed” as a problem limiting the provision of HHCSs (N = 151, 40.8%). The health professionals’ attitudes towards home nursing services were significantly less positive than those towards health guidance services (Z = − 10.081, P < 0.001). For home nursing services, health professionals’ attitude scores were lower than the caregivers’ demand scores (Z = − 4.960, P < 0.001), while for health guidance services, health professionals’ attitude scores were higher than the caregivers’ demand scores (Z = − 8.373, P < 0.001). Conclusions Gaps exist between the views of caregivers and health professionals on HHCSs. Compared to health professionals with a higher willingness to provide health guidance services, caregivers need home nursing services. Feasible policies should be implemented to safeguard the rights and interests of health professionals, and qualified health professionals should be trained for HHCSs.

Contextual factors have received increased attention in understanding the challenges and difficulties in translating career education and career guidance services from Western societies to non-Western societies, many of which are undertaking a shift from a socialist and collectivistic system to a more individualistic one. In this article, using China as an example, we discussed the contextual factors in different ecological systems, such as economical, educational, and sociocultural, and how they may facilitate or impede youth career education in a transitioning society. We reviewed a career education program in a Chinese senior middle school to illustrate such impacts. Additionally, we proposed strategies for further development of youth career education in China as well as in other countries with similar transitions. We introduced a framework of a diversified concept of career and several context-resonant career development theories to be considered in guiding youth career education programs in these transitioning societies.

In an era of rapid development, the world is showing greater openness towards diversity and inclusiveness. There is also an increasing amount of career-related research that has shed light on the LGBTQ+ population. Still, the literature reports many career issues that concern young LGBTQ+ individuals. The current article aimed to highlight the contributing issues that might impact young LGBTQ+ groups’ career development, mental health, and well-being – in particular, the issues of workplace hostility, the costs of self-identity disclosure, self-identity confusion, and inadequate career counselling and guidance services. These issues are discussed through the lens of three major career theories: Super’s life-span, life-space theory, Gottfredson’s circumscription and compromise theory, and Krumboltz’s social learning theory. The aim was to equip career counsellors with a better understanding of the challenges facing LGBTQ+ youth and to suggest potentially useful interventions.

Medical students as early adults have different challenges from high school, especially medical students. Based on the results of the previous study, it was found that medical students experienced anxiety, stress, and even depression with various levels. Ranging from mild to moderate-severe. Various efforts have been made, starting with increasing early detection of students from the first year, to the training stage to increase the role of academic advisory lecturers, to solving student problems that are sent to the counseling guidance section. The purpose of this training is that peer guidance services can be used as a form of guidance and counseling services provided to adolescents or early adults who have low social interaction. Before the training, it was started with the selection stage for peer counselors using an empathy questionnaire, based on the results of the questionnaire 28 students were found to be candidates for peer counselors. The training begins with a pretest then presentation material and case discussions then end with a post-test. Based on the results of the pre-test and post-test, there was an increase in knowledge about peer counselors, their roles, the benefits of counseling, and media that can be used as promotions as part of the peer counselor's duties. It is hoped that from this training, students can increase the role of assistance to students from the early stages so that severe cases experienced by students both in terms of academic and non-academic can be resolved.

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of the number of students from non-intact families lacking self-confidence, thus causing him to be less able to see himself positively. The purpose of this study is to see the difference in self-concept of students from intact families and families not intact. This research is a quantitative type of research with a comparative descriptive method. The population in this study were all students of SMP 25 Padang in the 2018/2019 academic year, totaling 744 students. The total sample of 260 students (150 students from intact families and 110 students from non-intact families) was selected using the Stratified Random Sampling technique. The research instrument used was a Likert scale questionnaire. Data were analyzed by percentage formula technique and formula t test with the help of SPSS for Windows 16. 0. The results revealed that (1) self-concept of students from intact families were in the high category (2) self-concept of students from non-intact families in the category quite high, and (3) there is a significant difference between the self-concept of students from intact families and non-intact families with a significant level of 0,000. Based on the results of the study it was suggested to counselors to be able to provide guidance and counseling services, information services, individual counseling services, group guidance services and group counseling services to students from non-intact families, in order to help students realize positive self-concepts.

The main purpose of the study is to evaluate the teacher’s perception towards slow learners academic achievement and role of guidance services at secondary school levels in district Peshawar. This was a Mixed Method research. Data was collected through administering especially designed questionnaire and used conveniently sample designed for selection of 200 Public and Private secondary schools Teachers/Head Masters, both male and female. Teachers/Head Masters were also asked to write suggestions for the improvement. It is found that positive teacher-student relation is necessary for the academic achievement of the students, especially the slow learners. Most of the teachers agreed that they take interest in the academics of their students and that they know how to teach their subject in a better way. Majority of the teachers responded positively that they can motivate the students for learning and that students feel comfortable in their class and they take feedback during the lesson. Student’s opinion is also taken and it is found that most of the students are satisfied with teaching method of the teachers. Teachers suggested that the strength of the class should be less, so that they could give full attention to each and every student. Majority of the teachers/head masters of secondary schools in district Peshawar reported ease of use of guidance and counseling services in their schools. It is also observed that the students have a complex of problems, domestic, personal, psychological, schools related and home centered etc. However, guidance and counseling need in a school required further investigation. The focal strength of character of the study was also exploring guidance services in the secondary schools. The applied significance of this study is to help policy maker in education institution to take care of the suggestion and perception of the teachers regarding slow learners academic achievement. This study will help in making strategies for quality education at secondary levels schools in Pakistan and provide suggestions to overcome the environmental issues and make improvement
