Medical students as early adults have different challenges from high school, especially medical students. Based on the results of the previous study, it was found that medical students experienced anxiety, stress, and even depression with various levels. Ranging from mild to moderate-severe. Various efforts have been made, starting with increasing early detection of students from the first year, to the training stage to increase the role of academic advisory lecturers, to solving student problems that are sent to the counseling guidance section. The purpose of this training is that peer guidance services can be used as a form of guidance and counseling services provided to adolescents or early adults who have low social interaction. Before the training, it was started with the selection stage for peer counselors using an empathy questionnaire, based on the results of the questionnaire 28 students were found to be candidates for peer counselors. The training begins with a pretest then presentation material and case discussions then end with a post-test. Based on the results of the pre-test and post-test, there was an increase in knowledge about peer counselors, their roles, the benefits of counseling, and media that can be used as promotions as part of the peer counselor's duties. It is hoped that from this training, students can increase the role of assistance to students from the early stages so that severe cases experienced by students both in terms of academic and non-academic can be resolved.

Background: Deliberate practice is an important method of skill acquisition and is under-utilized in dermatology training. We delivered a dermatologic morphology training module with immediate feedback for first year medical students. Our goal was to determine whether there are differences in accuracy and learning efficiency between self-regulated and algorithm-regulated groups. Methods: First year medical students at the University of Calgary completed a dermatologic morphology module. We randomly assigned them to either a self-regulated arm (students removed cases from the practice pool at their discretion) or an algorithm-regulated arm (an algorithm determined when a case would be removed). We then administered a pre-survey, pre-test, post-test, and post-survey. Data collected included mean diagnostic accuracy of the practice sessions and tests, and the time spent practicing. The surveys assessed demographic data and student satisfaction. Results: Students in the algorithm-regulated arm completed more cases than the self-regulated arm (52.9 vs. 29.3, p<0.001) and spent twice as much time completing the module than the self-regulated participants (34.3 vs. 17.0 min., p<0.001). Mean scores were equivalent between the algorithm- and self-regulated groups for the pre-test (63% vs. 66%, n = 54) and post-test (90% vs. 86%, n = 10), respectively. Both arms demonstrated statistically significant improvement in the post-test. Conclusion: Both the self-regulated and algorithm-regulated arms improved at post-test. Students spent significantly less time practicing in the self-directed arm, suggesting it was more efficient.

BACKGROUND The importance of the students in the development of the medical curriculum has been very well known. The valuable perspective and insight of the medical students is very essential in the development of new student-centred teaching modules with student friendly methodology, tools and learning resource materials to increase students’ interest improving their understanding and competence in anatomy and eventually create better doctors and for better patient outcomes. In view of this, an interventional study was carried out to study the role of undergraduate medical students in designing teaching module in anatomy for effective learning. METHODS An interventional study was carried out from October 2019 to March 2020 in the Department of Anatomy, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Sawangi (Meghe), Wardha. 230 first MBBS students and 50 students i.e., 25 students from each 2nd MBBS and 3rd MBBS participated voluntarily. A routine didactic lecture was conducted for first year MBBS students. Perception was taken with the structured proforma (using Likert scale) from all the students and data analysis was done. A panel was formed with 50 volunteered students from 2nd MBBS and 3rd MBBS who were given responsibility to form module (instructions for the teacher). Then lecture was again conducted for the first year MBBS students incorporating the instructions from the module framed after considering input from data analysis of perception of first MBBS students and from panel of second MBBS and third MBBS students. The data was analysed statistically, using descriptive and inferential statistics using chisquare test. Software used in the analysis were Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) 24.0 version and GraphPad Prism 7.0 version. RESULTS After data analysis, it was observed that after implementation of instructions from module there was improvement in all parameters of teaching learning methodology, tools used and learning resource material. The difference was statistically significant. CONCLUSIONS It is evident from the present study that when the teaching learning methodology, teaching learning tools and learning resource materials are designed considering the inputs from the techno savvy students, it is accepted and beneficial for effective learning while still keeping a tinge of the traditional methodology. Objective: The research used an assessment rubric to measure medical students’ improvement in question formulation skills following a brief evidence-based medicine (EBM) training session conducted by a health sciences librarian.Method: In a quasi-experimental designed study, students were assessed on their pre-instructional skills in formulating answerable EBM questions, based on a clinical scenario, using a rubric. Following their training, they were assessed using the same scenario and rubric. Student pre- and post-test scores were compared using a paired t-test.Results: Students demonstrated statistically significant improvement in their question formulation skills on their post-instructional assessments. The average score for students on the pre-test was 45.5 (SD 11.1) and the average score on the post-test was 65.6 (SD 5.4) with an increase of 20.1 points on the 70-point scale, p<0.001.Conclusion: The brief instructional session aided by the rubric improved students’ performance in question formulation skills.

There is a tendency to decrease attitudes for early-stage santri in terms of self-adjustment which is influenced, among others, by the interest of some santri, many of them are because of the direction of parents. If such symptoms are not immediately addressed then adjustment becomes a serious problem among the early-stage santri. That need to be given the type of guidance that can help the difficulties of the students in the adjustment in boarding school. One of the efforts that can be done is the provision of Islamic-based group guidance services. The main problem is whether the guidance of Islamic-based groups can improve the early adjustment of student students at Al Ishlah Darussalam Islamic Boarding School Semarang? The purpose of this study is to find out the guidance of Islamic-based groups can improve the adjustment of early students in Al Ishlah Darussalam Islamic Boarding School Semarang. The Pre-Test and Post-Test Design Group. The population of this study is the initial level of students in Al Ishlah Darussalam Islamic Boarding School Semarang academic year 2016/2017 which amounted to 32 santri. The results of this study indicate that the guidance of Islamic-based groups can improve the adjustment of early santri level students in Al Ishlah Darussalam Islamic Boarding School Semarang based on the comparison of z count 4.994> z table 1.96 with probability = 0, 000 <0.05. The rate of adjustment before the guidance of the Islamic-based group was 62.04% and the level of adjustment after the guidance of the Islamic based group by 70.57%. In this case, there was an increase of 8.53%. Based on these results, the researcher gives suggestion to the custodian of pesantren to facilitate guidance and counseling to help santri adjustment to make it easier, involving the alumni of pesantren who are competent in the field of guidance and counseling.
