A thermophoretically driven Au aerosol deposition process is used for the self-assembly of thin films consisting of plasmonic nano-islands (NIs) with a controllable and highly reproducible degree of disorder resulting in long-range periodicity with self-similar properties and stochastically distributed hot-spots, benefitting their applications as SERS substrates.

By using the electrostatic self-assembly technique, arranged multi-layer thin films composed of diazonium resin as the polycation and phthalocyanine as the anion, were alternately fabricated on a glass slide. The obtained multi-layers were characterized by UV-vis spectroscopy and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). The growth of multi-layers formed by the sequential alternative adsorption of diazonium resin and phthalocyanine was observed and determined. The results of UV-vis absorption show that the deposition process is progressive and uniform. In addition, AFM images of the self-assembled multi-layer films reveal that the surface of the films is relatively uniform.

Upon adding THBV, the self-assembly of THBV with H1 allows the rest of the DNA sequence of H1 to accelerate H1–H2 complex formation. The G-quadruplex at the end of the H1–H2 complex could catalyze TMB into a colored product.

AbstractThin film production by aerosol deposition is a simple, non‐vacuum method, which under certain conditions of the process parameters, can be considered as a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process. In this paper we describe the formation of superconducting thin films by aerosol deposition in the CVD regime by using metal‐organic precursors. The best results were obtained with the metal β‐diketonates of Y, Ba and Cu dissolved in butylacetate. This solution was nebulized and sprayed on a heated Si‐substrate with a Zr02‐buffer layer at a temperature of 450 C. After deposition a final heat treatment at a temperature of 800 C was applied. The resulting superconducting film has a Tc>2ero of 75 K.

The formation of functional liposomes by the self assembly of a peptide–amphiphile that comprises the neuroprotective tripeptide motif glycyl-prolyl-glutamic acid linked to a hydrophobic moiety is reported. The self-assembled peptide–lipid conjugate displays long range order and can be dispersed as nanometre sized particles.

AbstractConducting polymers are interesting materials due to their wide range of applications in electronics, sensing, photonics and display applications. The present paper delineates the synthesis and characterization of the three functionalized poly (p-phenylene)s (PPP) (A-C) and solution properties of the polymers. The self-assembly of the polymers were investigated on various substrates and the optical/morphological properties of thin films of these polymers were also studied. The spontaneous self assembly of the modified PPP's lead to the formation of thin films on both hydrophilic and modified surfaces.
