In this article the authors analyze the formation of an institution of environmental responsibility developing a modern view on the practice of corporate social responsibility, taking into account the specifics of Russian enterprises in the coal industry. The study emphasizes the importance of considering the ecological aspect and environmental protection, which is becoming relevant in the context of the implementation of anthropogenic and man-made impacts on the nature caused by industry. A comparison is made in terms of time awareness by foreign and domestic enterprises of the coal industry of a responsible attitude to the biosphere and ecosystems. The environmental aspect is marked as integral to the coal industry. It is substantiated that the formation of the institution of environmental responsibility of coal industry enterprises reflects the impossibility of taking into account all the needs of target audiences with corporate social responsibility events. It is clarified that the need for the formation of this institution is given by megatrends of civilizational development. In conclusion, the study provides the starting points for the implementation of the processes of the formation of the institution of environmental responsibility.

Sustainable development is now an important direction for the further development of all economies in the world. It is important to balance economic development with the impact on the environment and our planet. Another direction in the development of management sciences is the emergence of the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility, which considers this impact in three key aspects—economic, environmental and social—in terms of microeconomics. This concept gives companies specific guidelines and tools that minimize their negative impact on the environment. Reducing the negative impact of companies influences the environment and this is what is mainly associated with them. However, companies should also pay attention to internal consistency and caring for employees. Company practices such as the exploitation of people, including children, and injustice in the workplace are some of the factors that can be observed in less developed countries. The article focuses on the presentation of the environmental aspect in the context of the concept of corporate social responsibility. We analyzed individual sectors of the economy in terms of the environmental aspect, with particular emphasis on the energy industry. The study is based on a statistical analysis taking into account data from 1718 companies from all over the world. The aim of the article is to present the environmental aspect in the context of corporate social responsibility in the energy industry as a direction for sustainable development of the economy. The article is based on the analysis of the literature and databases presenting CSR, which was created on the basis of questionnaire research. The article shows which regions of the world are worse and which are better in terms of the environmental aspects of CSR. Conclusions on the main CSR guidelines for the environment are also presented. We analyzed factors such as environmental routines, policies and targets, implementation of environmental management systems, ISO 14001/EMAS certification, environmental reporting, environmental requirements inside the supply chain, the trend of GHG emissions and the trend of energy consumption for their environmental impact. The analysis was carried out on the basis of given regions of the world and individual sectors of the economy, especially the energy industry.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a form of social responsibility from the business to also care about the conditions of the social environment around it. In this concept, businesses are not only required to realize their economic responsibilities in fulfilling the production of goods and services but are also asked to care about aspects of social and environmental responsibility affected by these production activities. PT. Bukit Asam (Tbk) (PTBA) as one of the companies engaged in coal mining in Muara Enim district, is also inseparable from the responsibilities that have been mandated in the form of related regulations and laws. PTBA as a BUMN is also mandated to implement the Partnership and Community Development Program (PKBL), which is also a form of CSR programs. In its implementation, if it is associated with the mandate of CSR and PKBL regulations, it is appropriate for the CSR-PKBL program not only to measure its business benefits, both in terms of the company's reputation, but also to continue to operate to the marketing aspects. However, CSR and PKBL must be able to provide economic benefits to the recipient community. For this reason, this study presents how the perspective of the community in seeing the CSR-PKBL program that has been conducted by PTBA to the community in Muara Enim Regency. The study was conducted in communities in 17 villages in 3 sub-districts identified as having received the CSR-PKBL program from 2014-2015. This study is useful for companies to provide a direction to the future CSR-PKBL program, and also to local governments to formulate policies related to the implementation of CSR-PKBL as mandated by law.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine whether different corporate social responsibility (CSR) dimensions, namely, workplace economic responsibility, legal responsibility, ethical responsibility, philanthropic responsibility and environmental responsibility, have different influence on job pursuit intention among undergraduate students in Malaysia. Design/methodology/approach The target respondents are undergraduate business students from five leading private universities in Malaysia. Primary data were collected through survey questionnaires via face-to-face method. Five-point Likert scale was used to assess the variables and to measure the items. Collected data were tested through SAS software and analysed with descriptive and inferential analyses. Findings Four out of the five CSR dimensions significantly influence job pursuit intention with ethical responsibility being the exception. Practical implications This study proved that the adoption of CSR in an organisation will become a competitive advantage to attract new talents. Also, this is an improved research model by adopting multi-dimensional perspectives of CSR. Originality/value This proposed framework with a combination of five CSR dimensions (workplace economic responsibility, legal responsibility, ethical responsibility, philanthropic responsibility and environmental responsibility) is useful to future researchers as it enables them to have a broader view on CSR and its effect on job pursuit intention.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of implementing corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives (social responsibility, economic responsibility and environmental responsibility) on Jordanian Pharmaceutical Manufacturing (JPM) industry’s business performance. Design/methodology/approach This study follows a quantitative descriptive design. The data were collected from 116 managers working at seven JPM organizations by questionnaire. After confirming validity and reliability of the tool, the statistical analysis means, standard deviations and t-values were used to test implementation and finally multiple regressions were used to test the hypothesis. Findings Results show that there are relationships between CSR variables, and all the three variables are strongly related to business performance. The results also indicate that the three sub-variables together affect JPM industry’s business performance. The environmental responsibility has the highest effect on JPM industry’s business performance, followed by the economic responsibility, and then the social responsibility. Research limitations/implications This study was directed toward pharmaceutical industry in Jordan. Generalizing the results to other industries and countries is questionable. Therefore, further research on other industries and countries will help mitigate the issue of generalizing conclusions. Practical implications CSR should be formulated clearly within JPM corporate strategy. The elements of CSR need to be integrated with the present performance management criteria, leadership development programs and organizational development programs, and a champion for CSR needs to be assigned. Social implications The CSR initiatives should be derived from local culture and match with international initiatives because CSR is the responsibility of every person. Originality/value Still the topic of CSR is not well implemented and does not have priority by Jordanian companies; therefore, this study may be considered as one of the few studies dedicated to study this topic and create awareness about it in Jordan.

The tenet of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) positions the environment as logocentrism so that almost all firms increasingly desire to appear “green”. An expanding number of firms are going green and are made public through corporate social reports. Green CSR is a philosophy for describing the environmental aspect of CSR. In Indonesia, it however lacks the discussion and the response after the government applies the law and regulation. This paper highlights the Indonesian government role of attracting firms to be involved in carrying out the environmental performance. The tenet of legitimacy theory is reviewed to elaborate environmental CSR practice. The aim of this paper is to provide critical perspective of understanding the environmental responsibility. It posits that environmental CSR practice in Indonesia is only addressed to legitimize the business. Firms are more involved in carrying out the environmental performance due to the mandate from dominant rules and rating values enforced by the government. For an integrated synergy in maximizing sustainable development, the government should heighten collaboration activities with small firms and provide an assessment in accordance with their characteristics.
