Abstract The quality of river water is essential for the survival of living beings, whether for agricultural, livestock or human consumption. This study was carried out in the province of Junín, in different districts of Huancayo, the analysis of the samples was carried out in the continental university, from which the data were obtained for comparisons. This investigation revealed that the Chanchas river water has a higher concentration of pollutants during the afternoons since the pH is 8.69 (alkaline), being within the environmental quality standards, however these waters are not recommended for irrigation because it would cause plants do not absorb nutrients properly. Likewise, it was shown that the pH values of the drinking water of the four districts are similar, being 7.36, verifying that it is within the maximum permissible limit and suitable for consumption.

High community activity on the border of the Bah Biak River causes pollution in the waters of the river. The increase in the number of settlements and industries in Pematangsiantar city certainly has an impact on the quality of its waters. The purpose of this study is to find out the water quality of the Bah Biak River in Pematangsiantar City covering the physical and chemical parameters of the waters. This research was conducted in 2021 in Bah Biak River Pematangsiantar city. Water sampling in the Bah Biak River is carried out with three repetitions, namely in March, June and August taking into account the representation of the seasons. Water sampling is carried out in situ for parameters of brightness, pH, total dissolved solid (TDS), electrical delivery, temperature and dissolved oxygen (DO), ammonia, while for laboratory scale measurements are carried out for biologycal oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) parameters. The results of the measurement will be displayed in graphic form and descriptively discussed by referring to the specified quality standards. Based on the results of measurements of several water quality parameters in the Bah Biak River, it can be concluded that the majority of the parameters studied still meet the quality standards but there are parameters that have passed the quality standard threshold, namely BOD and ammonia parameters. In the southwest region of Shandong province, villagers spontaneously adopt various ways to resist the cold climate in winter. In this paper, first we selected three typical rural residences in the region as case buildings. The three residences respectively use different heating ways for better indoor thermal environment, honeycomb briquette, Kang and furnable-heating. Then, we measured and compared the heat and moisture parameters of indoor and outdoor environment of the three residences. Finally, with the results of measurement and comparison, we proposed some methods to improve indoor thermal environment of rural residences, and economical ways of heating to enhance quality of villagers life, and provide technical support for new rural construction.

The largest utilization of coastal areas in Brebes Regency is the shrimp farming ponds. Shrimp volume statistics until 2016 showed that shrimp production in Brebes tends to decrease. The decrease in shrimp production can be caused by disruption in the environmental quality from the surrounding activities. This study aims to analyze the causes of declining production based on the quality of the physical environment of shrimp ponds. The variables used are water quality values (Ph, Tds / Ec, and salino), vegetation values of ponds, and waste disposal values around ponds <1000m, 1000-2000m,> 2000m. The data used is a Quick Bird image as of 2015 to determine the area of shrimp ponds and results of field survey in February 2018 for water quality sampling and observation. The analytical method that is used is scoring and weighting. The grades of pond environment quality that are produced are Poor; Good; and Well. The results show that the subdistricts of Brebes and Wanasari have well environmental quality; Tanjung has good environmental quality; and environmental value of Bulakamba and Losari subdistricts have poor environmental quality. Environmental quality is strongly influenced by industrial activities, onion farming activities, and settlements. This environmental quality study can be utilized for the management of sustainable shrimp farming.

The discharge of untreated effluents affects the quality of receiving water bodies and impairs their potential beneficial uses; to prevent this from happening, effluent quality standards (EQS) must be set. The conventional procedure for establishing EQS requires extensive knowledge of the receiving body characteristics. When there is an evident need for setting EQS, but all the information needed is not available (a situation probably common to many regions around the world), the need arises for a simplified procedure, such as the one herein proposed. The procedure is based on four tenets: 1) the classification of major water quality parameters into four classes: basic parameters, conservative contaminants, toxic contaminants and pathogens; 2) various sets of maximum permissible contaminant concentration (MPCC), for each class of contaminants; 3) two comprehensive classifications: one of effluent discharges according to their origin, and another of receiving waters based on their intended use and general characteristics; and 4) a two-dimensional matrix for different classes of effluent discharges and receiving bodies; four indices are proposed for each cell of the matrix, specifying MPCC for each class of parameters.
