Based on the investigation on the collection and treatment of the runoff from the bridge-deck of some expressways involving sensitive water bodies, this paper proposed an integrated design idea of the emergency storage facility and the bridge-deck rainwater runoff treatment facility for the transportation accident of dangerous chemicals in the expressway. The integrated design idea improves the disadvantages of simultaneous treatment of rainwater and accident-water in the bridge-deck runoff treatment system. The process flow, plane layout, functional unit volume design, conversion device, and control system involved in the integrated design are discussed.

The strategy for managing the process of sustainable development is reduced to the need for periodic implementation of structural and functional transformations in the objects of the regional economy, arising from the objective appearance of qualitatively new challenges (disturbances) from society and nature. At the same time, the design of new and reconstruction of existing facilities with a long service life (more than 20 years) should be aimed at the preventive elimination of challenges not only of the present, but also of the future. Long-distance calls need to be predicted and taken into account in order to reduce the overhead of object evolution. The problem of reconstruction of urban treatment facilities together with a control system is considered in order to ensure their operability in the face of uncertainty of future challenges.

AbstractLaser keyhole initiation and termination-related defects, such as cracking and keyhole cavities due to keyhole collapse, are a well-known issue in laser keyhole welding of thick section steels. In longitudinal welding, run-on and run-off plates are used to avoid this problem. However, such an approach is not applicable in circumferential welding where start/stop defects remain within the workpiece. These issues can hinder industry from applying laser keyhole welding for circumferential welding applications. In this paper, the effect of inter-pass temperature on laser keyhole initiation and termination at the weld overlap start-stop region was investigated. This study has identified that defects occurring within this region were due to laser termination rather than laser initiation because of keyhole instabilities regardless of the thermal cycle. The laser termination defects were mitigated by applying a laser defocusing termination regime to reduce the keyhole depth gradually and control the closure of the keyhole.

This paper takes the automatic control system of controllable pitch propeller in a multipurpose ocean tug as an example to describe the application of the S7-200 series PLC in the control system of 4500 horse power controllable pitch propeller in detail. The principle of control system is addressed, as well as the hardware configuration, the design idea of the main software and control process. The system shows high reliability, accuracy and good control performance in practical in practical running.

A system of reservoirs is usually defined as a system of water management elements, that are mutually linked by inner and outer connections in a purpose-built complex. Combined elements consist of reservoirs, river sections, dams, weirs, hydropower plants, water treatment plants and other hydraulic structures. These elements also include the rainfall system, the run-off system, the ground water system, etc. A system of reservoirs serves many purposes, which result from the basic functions of water reservoirs: storage, flood control and environmental functions. Most reservoirs serve several purposes at the same time. They are so called multi-purposes reservoirs. Optimum design and control of a system of reservoirs depends strongly on identifying the particular purposes. In order to assess these purposes and to evaluate the appropriate set of criteria, risk analysis can be used. Design and control of water reservoir functions is consequently solved with the use of multi-objective optimisation. This paper deals with the use of the risk analysis to determine criteria for controlling the system. This approach is tested on a case study of the Pastviny dam in the Czech Republic.
