This paper explains the mathematical modelling and controller design of Two Tank Interacting System (TTIS) for a non-linear process. To design the non-linear process using Matlab Simulink and control the process using conventional PID controller and Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC). A comparative study was conducted extensively made to examine which controller suits well for the non-linear process through the response observed.

This paper deals with the elimination of harmonics at PCC in the presence of non-linear type of loads. Introduction of five-level DSTATCOM at PCC injects compensating currents for the minimization of harmonic content in the source currents. Non-linear loads when connected to the system draw non-linear components of current leaving undesired harmonics at the source side. DSTATCOM when connected to the system at the coupling point induces compensating currents to nullify harmonics. This paper introduces the simulation modelling of five-level DSTATCOM for harmonic elimination. Matlab/Simulink modelling was done for the system without DSTATCOM and its harmonic contents were shown. The system without DSTATCOM is compared with the system with the presence of DSTATCOM showing their respective THD in the source current. Five level DSTATCOM was validated by considering fixed load and variable load. Simulation work was carried out for three types of systems and results were obtained using Matlab/Simulink.

Four-leg voltage source inverter is an evolution of the three-leg inverter, and was ought about by the need to handle the non-linear and unbalanced loads. In this work Matlab/ Simulink model is presented using space vector modulation technique. Simulation results for worst conditions of unbalanced linear and non-linear loads are obtained. Observation for the continuity of the fundamental inverter output voltages vector in stationary coordinate is detected for better performance. Matlab programs are executed in block functions to perform switching vector selection and space vector switching.

This paper chiefly deals with the performance of DSTATCOM as a load compensator. For enhancing the power quality and so as to mitigate harmonics it is employed on the load side. The reactive power is absorbed or generated by DSTATCOM by regulating the bus voltage. The most reason for occurring of the power quality issues is because of the non-liner loads that were employed by the consumers. DSTATCOM works as inductive or capacitive modes basing on the system voltage. The analysis is performed on the issues in the distribution side by employing the DSTATCOM compensation in this paper. In this paper,we had adopted Instantaneous Symmetrical Compound Theory (ISCT) controller to mitigate harmonics on the source side. The harmonics are due to the increase in the usage of non-linear loads by the consumers. The DSTATCOM regulates the bus voltage by absorbing or generating reactive power. The results are extracted using extensive digital simulation performed in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment.

To carry out the control and trade of electric energy, power and energy meters are used profusely. This article discusses the differences in the power and energy readings of the measuring instruments of different types and their use for the control of the quality of the supply and consumption of electrical energy. The contradictions of these readings are analyzed when measured in consumers of non-linear loads, generators of harmonics, and of linear loads, consumers of them. Simulation methods are used to show how harmonic propagation occurs in the system. MATLAB Simulink is used as a method of simulation with generating harmonics loads and linear loads. It analyzes how the parameters of the energy quality of the consumers can be affected and it is proposed to use the measurement of the active power of the harmonics as a means of control and penalization.

(Ed. note: The custom in these Symposia has been to have a summary-introductory presentation which lasts about 1 to 1.5 hours, during which discussion from the floor is minor and usually directed at technical clarification. The remainder of the session is then devoted to discussion of the whole subject, oriented around the summary-introduction. The preceding session, I-A, at Nice, followed this pattern. Christy suggested that we might experiment in his presentation with a much more informal approach, allowing considerable discussion of the points raised in the summary-introduction during its presentation, with perhaps the entire morning spent in this way, reserving the afternoon session for discussion only. At Varenna, in the Fourth Symposium, several of the summaryintroductory papers presented from the astronomical viewpoint had been so full of concepts unfamiliar to a number of the aerodynamicists-physicists present, that a major part of the following discussion session had been devoted to simply clarifying concepts and then repeating a considerable amount of what had been summarized. So, always looking for alternatives which help to increase the understanding between the different disciplines by introducing clarification of concept as expeditiously as possible, we tried Christy's suggestion. Thus you will find the pattern of the following different from that in session I-A. I am much indebted to Christy for extensive collaboration in editing the resulting combined presentation and discussion. As always, however, I have taken upon myself the responsibility for the final editing, and so all shortcomings are on my head.)
