Measurement, regulation and control systems offer direct savings and reduce energy consumption, regulating heating, cooling, ventilation or lighting in the intelligent buildings. They provide quick and accurate information on the status of regulated systems or possible malfunction. Systems can use the special meteorological stations to get information about wind velocity and direction, outdoor temperature, intensity and direction of sunlight. They respond flexibly to changes in external parameters. Intelligent buildings combine architecture and aesthetics of the construction, safety, comfort and quality of the living. These buildings are productive, energy efficient and environmentally acceptable. Intelligent buildings combine internal and external intelligence building, intelligence used materials and constructions. The most important aspect is the cooperation of people with those systems. Intelligent buildings should be permanent, healthy, technologically advanced.

Wiki is a typical representative of the User-Generated Content. Its appearance greatly promotes the creation, organization, management, and sharing of knowledge on the Internet. As articles grow rapidly in Wikis, the quality of the articles has aroused many people’s concerns. The topics on how to assess and control the quality of articles have attracted many researchers. However, few studies have been conducted to investigate the status of this research topic. This chapter explores the current research status and trends of wikis' quality and governance. The authors selected papers from the databases of ISI, EI, IEEE, and other widely used databases. They reported the trends and research of wikis’ quality and governance using bibliometric analysis and content analysis of a total of 99 relevant papers. The results show that although the research topics in the field have experienced a very rapid development, they are still at an early age that lacks theories to support them. The discipline of Library and Information Science was found to play a very active role in this new area. Future research agenda and directions are also discussed.

The sintering process involves a large number of parameters, more than 500, each of which exerts a greater or lesser influence and needs to be controlled, within the possible limits, in order to optimise productivity, process stability, and standardise the composition and quality of the sinter produced. To comply with environmental legislation, a pollution control system must monitor the particle matter and gases generated and emitted into the atmosphere by the sinter plant. Automation and control systems are vital tools to assist plant operators in the monitoring of each stage of the sinter production process.

Abstract. In view of the status of existing buildings in northwest of Liaoning, most of which are lack of energy-saving practices and appear poor comfort, this paper starts from the energy saving concept, aims at figuring out the energy saving measures for cold regions, such as northwest of Liaoning province. The research includes analyzing energy-saving methods, steps and initiatives. Based on these, this paper also proposes specific technical practices to overcome the shortcomings of the existing buildings on energy conservation, and gives advices on how to reduce energy consumption and improve the quality of people’s living and working environment.

Aging is a stage of life that increases the risk of physical diseases, some of which are chronic and can affect different dimensions of life’s quality and the status of psychological factors in these patients. In addition to medical supports, it is essential to provide sport complexes in accordance with the physical and mental condition of these patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of a period of aquatic therapy exercise on the quality of life and depression in aged males suffering from chronic physical pains. In a semi-experimental study, 30 aged males who voluntarily referred to Niyayesh health center of Shiraz were selected. They were randomly divided in to two groups; experimental (n=15) and control (n=15). Subjects of aquatic therapy exercise were involved in an 8-week-activity in water; 3 sessions per week each lasting approximately 50 to 70 minutes. At the same time, the control group was only followed-up and was not engaged in any exercise during this period. The variables of the quality of life and depression among the patients were measured by standard questionnaires in the beginning and end of the eight-week-aquatic therapy exercise. Results of this study showed that aquatic therapy exercise can be used as an effective and helpful method to promote public health in aged males suffering from chronic physical pains because it leads to the improvement of multi-dimensional variables of quality of life and depression in the patients.

This article overviews the history of development of driverless vehicles both in Russia and the World. Foreign experience of development of driverless vehicles, including electric traction, is analyzed. Main stages of creation of experimental NAMI driverless electric vehicle are revised. Main engineering solutions are described concerning development of advanced NAMI driverless electric vehicle, its major components and control systems. Projects aimed at environmental safety of passengers in NAMI driverless electric vehicle are exemplified. Results of bench scale and running tests of NAMI driverless electric vehicle are summarized. Major advantages of driverless energy efficient and environmentally clean transport are demonstrated.

Abstract. Multi-criterial analysis is becoming one of the main methods for evaluation of influence of geographic environment on human activity, or human activity on geographic environment, respectively. Analysis results are often used in command and control systems, especially in armed forces and units of rescue systems. For analyses, digital geographic data – whose quality significantly influences the reached results – are used. Visualization of results of analyses in command and control systems are usually thematic layers over raster images of topographic maps. That is why this visualization must correspond to cartographic principles used for the creation of thematic maps. The article presents problems that an analyst encounters within the evaluation of the quality of the used data, performance of the analysis itself as well as preparation of data files for their transfer and publishing in command and control systems.

This report summarizes a survey performed in eight countries on the status quo of daylight and electric lighting control systems. Feedback from more than 100 international experts (building / facility managers and planers) was evaluated. The aim of the survey was to identify the perception of the different possibilities of the current lighting control solutions and the expectations about the control systems. The survey aims to provide a mapping of the current lighting control systems available at the market and an overview of which functions are perceived as most important and which areas are found to be improved. Participants of the survey had to rank each question in relation to the perceived importance and the need for improvement. The survey enclosed five general topics; energy, operational aspects, occupant control, occupant comfort and control functionality.
