The existing power facilities of the Republic of Tatarstan face a number of disadvantages related to the system for recording data on the technical condition of boiler and turbine equipment: manual calculation of the parameters of equipment operation, lack of direct access to complete information on the condition of equipment and, as a result, low efficiency in identifying malfunctions, deviations in the operation of equipment, carrying out repair work. Hence, the need for digitalization of the system for recording data on the technical condition of equipment was formed, in response to which software was developed for automating the data recording system and visualizing the technical parameters of reliability at thermal power plants. This proposal is distinguished by the introduction of digital technologies in the process of recording data on the technical condition of equipment, where for the first time the software includes a method for automatically calculating the technical condition index of boiler units. The results of the work will reduce the likelihood of an emergency state of power plant equipment.

Soil is one of the most important natural resources. Measurement of natural radioactivity in soil is very important to determine the amount of change of the natural background activity with time as a result of any radioactivity release. Coal mine and thermal power plant in Gacko field is a very important industrial facility. The content of radionuclides of the soil was examined at Gacko area, slag, ash and mullock dumps in thethermal power plant Gacko and soils of dumps in the process of re-cultivation. The gamma – spectrometric measurements were done in the Institute of Nuclear Sciences “Vinča” in Belgrade.Soil samples were collected in 2010/2014 at more locations in eastern part of Republic of Srpska. After removing the stones and vegetation, all soil samples for Gama spectrometric measurements dried up to 0 105 C, sieved, placed in the plastic 500 mL Marinelli beakers and left for four weeks to reach radioactive equilibrium. Given that there are no specific regulations in the Republic of Srpska, the concentration of natural and produced radionuclides in samples from the working and living environment of thermal power plants, comparison with literature data from the region and the world is one way of evaluating the impact of the plant's operation on the soils. The results point to the necessity of regular monitoring of radioactivity in eastern Herzegovina in order to assess the impact of the technologically increased natural radioactivity.

Information about the problems arising from the uneven production and consumption of energy in power systems, including in the power system of the Republic of Uzbekistan, is given on the example of a daily electrical load schedule. It is noted that to successfully solve these problems, energy is accumulated in the hours of minimum consumption so that it can be used in peak hours with high consumption, and for this purpose, pumped storage power plants are used. A diagram of hydraulic energy storage is given at large pumping stations used to accumulate water in the upper reservoir in hours of minimum loads, and the accumulated volume of water is directed to generate energy, which can be used by pumping stations to supply additional water to its consumers, replenishing its losses in hours of hydraulic energy storage. The method of selection and optimization of the main parameters of this complex, based on minimizing fuel consumption in power plants while limiting the amount of accumulated energy based on the capabilities of water and energy resources of pumping stations, is presented. The calculations using the example of the Syrdarya thermal power plant show that with the integration of five nearby pumping stations into the process of energy storage and generation, significant cost savings are achieved, and the daily load schedule is significantly leveled.

Bulk of CO2 emission comes from thermal power generation, which constitutes about 63% of total installed capacity of around 101.6 GWe. The policy makers and power utilities are increasingly favoring the introduction of clean coal technologies, which release less pollutants viz. CO2, NOx and SOx than the conventional thermal plants and have potential to operate at higher efficiencies above 42–44%. Among the clean coal technologies, Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) is being considered the most promising because of higher thermal efficiencies and improved environmental performance. IGCC has the added advantage of removing sulphur pollutants in bed using sorbent as against expensive external post combustion flue gas desulphurisation systems. It is proposed to set up 100MWe-demonstration plant for proving the emission standards and performance prior to commercialization. This plant is based on Frame 6 FA gas turbine designed for low Btu gas firing. The Paper presents the technical parameters and compares the overall project cost of 100MWe IGCC plant for both Cold gas cleanup unit (CGCU) and Hot gas cleanup unit (HGCU), which comprises of Gasification Island, power block, and balance of plant. Being first of kind the project cost is higher and the project cost is likely to get reduced for utility scale of 425 MW IGCC plants in future.

Deterioration and aging of the technical fleet of thermal power facilities lead to an unpredictable shutdowns of power equipment. Therefore, it is necessary to create a special approach in maintenance and repair programs, taking into account the possibility of predicting the moment of onset of the defect, its development, as well as the time of possible equipment failure. The equipment maintenance system used at the enterprises is based on the collection of retrospective data on defects and failures on the main and auxiliary equipment of the TPP and summarizing statistics on identical or similar equipment samples. Analysis of domestic and foreign methods of maintenance and organization of repair, as well as possibility of their application in modern power engineering is given. In order to create an efficient production asset management system, which addresses the problem of finding a balance between the potential risk of losses associated with both the operation of equipment and the cost of correcting defects, new class systems are now used in the software market, which carry out equipment maintenance based on the forecast. In order to optimize the equipment maintenance system and ensure uninterrupted and reliable operation of the equipment at minimum operating costs, as well as to reduce equipment downtime, unscheduled and emergency operations, it is advisable to use a modern approach to manage both reliability and risk, as well as the cost of asset ownership. This will enable to control the economic efficiency of the use of production assets. The necessity of creation of an algorithm of implementation of repair programs of power equipment base on technical condition for its use in digital power systems is shown. An algorithm is proposed for implementing the repair program of power units of electric power plants, including steam boilers and turbines of thermal power plants, differing by taking into account the technical condition of power equipment, which allows recognizing the defect that has appeared, determining the cause of its occurrence, its evolution and the duration of possible equipment failure. In the developed repair maintenance algorithm, it is proposed to make a transition from statistical empirical assessments of the technical condition of the equipment to objective estimates obtained on the basis of automated technical diagnostics systems and predictive analysis of situations.

Abstract The constantly growing demand for electricity and relatively small energy capacities are forcing the Republic of Buryatia (to a greater extent) and Mongolia, which are limited in some types of economic activity, to look for new sources of energy. One of these restrictions is the ban on the construction of hydroelectric power plants on rivers of the Lake Baikal basin. Therefore, Buryatia and Mongolia have taken the path of building environmentally friendly power plants and have succeeded in many ways. Despite the high costs of setting up clean power plants, infrastructure investments in alternative energy are long-term and expected to be profitable. Investors (including foreign ones) placing their money in a seemingly low-profit project, having long-term expectations. Competent investors do not run after “quick money”, realising that the return period of the constructed power plants will be long, as at the moment of development they have a relatively low efficiency. Despite the criticism of some researchers [1], they invest in green energy, modern infrastructure and a future without emissions (CO2, NO2, SO2 and other gases) from burning coal, fuel oil and firewood. Other experts see in the development of alternative energy a great potential [2-5], refuting arguments of critics about high cost of electricity [6].
