A systematic approach to the analysis of sustainable development of a coal-mining region, substantiated in the light of the growing and intensifying problems of an ecological, technological, social nature, determined by the specifics of territorial functioning, which causes a high susceptibility of the regional economy to external challenges, the main of which is currently high volatility of coal export prices, is presented in the article. In the conditions of the existing excessive orientation of the development of coal-mining regions towards the influence of the economic factor based on the principle of extracting maximum benefits, which, among other things, have historical prerequisites, there is a need to revise the theoretical concepts of sustainable development of territories from the point of view of a systematic approach that substantiates interconnection of many more components of sustainable development of regional economies. Thus, it is advisable to present the analysis of sustainable development of a coal mining region through the interaction of five interdependent components: culture and education component, social well-being component, science and innovation component, environment component and economic efficiency component.

Environmental safety can be considered as an integral and one of the most important parts of the concept of sustainable development of a coal-mining region, since the environmental risks occupy one of the leading places among the risks of backbone enterprises of such regions due to the particularities of the coal industry and its impact on the environment. In the article, environmental safety is assessed through indicators of the quality of atmospheric air and water, as well as investments in the restoration and protection of the environment; discrepancies were revealed between the amount of financial investments allocated to nature restoration measures and the results of the anthropogenic impact of coal mining enterprises on the biosphere; emphasis was placed on the need to improve the efficiency of funds allocated for environmental protection and rational use of natural resources. Considered priority areas of environmental activities implemented in the framework of the environmental policy of JSC SUEK-Kuzbass. The effectiveness of the system of environmental remediation measures developed by the Company, their adequate funding, makes it possible to place the Company among the industry leaders in environmental and social responsibility for its activities.

Objectives: Breastfeeding support rooms are low-cost interventions that may prolong breastfeeding and improve work performance. Thus, we sought to understand the experiences and perceptions of working women who use breastfeeding support rooms and the potential contribution to sustainable development goals. Methods: Descriptive and exploratory research was conducted through convenience sampling of women working in companies with breastfeeding support rooms in the state of Paraná, Brazil. A semi-structured questionnaire was applied through interviews and online self-completion.Results: Fifty-three women between 28 and 41 years old participated in the study. In addition, 88.7% had graduated from college, and 96% were married. From the women's experiences and perceptions, we identified that breastfeeding support rooms contribute to prolonged breastfeeding, improve physical and emotional well-being, allow women to exercise their professional activities comfortably, contribute to women's professional appreciation for the excellent relationship between employees and employers. Conclusion: In this novel study, we demonstrate how, from a female point of view, breastfeeding support rooms can contribute to 8 of the 17 sustainable development goals and should therefore be encouraged and promoted.

The legal side of subsoil use is one of the cornerstones of creating conditions for the transition to sustainable development. The will of the state - the guarantor of taking environmental measures should be implemented in the relevant legislative acts. The authors consider the main directions of legal regulation of the coal mining process in the territory of Russia. Basic legal documents regulating relations in the sphere of subsoil use of the Russian Federation are considered, problems of legislation on subsoil, water resources and land use are identified, and the main directions for its improvement are outlined. Also, a comparative analysis of the legal documents of the Russian Federation in this area is provided, that shows the obvious shortcomings of this issue from the point of view of the legislation.

The article substantiates the thesis that any policy is always based on a certain set of ideas and views. This set of ideas is guided by people working in government bodies, and first of all, the heads of these bodies. It is shown that the authorities take steps to develop the parameters of economic development and ensure compliance with these parameters by all elements of the system on the basis of the existing ideology. It is noted that from the point of view of the system approach, the basic elements of the system of economic relations are households. Therefore, the parameters of the “economic relations” system development should characterize the improvement of the condition of each household. It is proved that the existing de facto ideology of enrichment and the corresponding economic policy does not and will not be able to ensure sustainable economic growth, since they are not aimed at ensuring the growth of the well-being of all households. The vector of changes in economic policy is indicated in the case of legislative and institutional consolidation of a new ideology – “improving the welfare of all households”. It is shown that such a change in ideology will necessarily entail a demand for scientific justification of the nomenclature and assortment of household needs and the necessary ways to ensure them. On the basis of a systematic approach, a forecast is given of what may happen in the country if these ideological changes are not made.

The main goal of the study is to classify the 27 countries of the European Union (excluding the UK) according to their contribution to achieving the UN’s global goals for sustainable development related to agriculture. Five goals were selected: Goal 2: Zero hunger, Goal 3: Good health and well-being, Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production, Goal 14: Life below water and Goal 15: Life on land. The following criteria for distinguishing countries were used in the clustering: Goal achievement, Challenges remain, Significant challenges, Major challenges. To achieve this goal, from a methodological point of view, are applied: correlation analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA analysis of variance and post hog test for multiple comparison - Tukey HSD. As a result of the analysis, with data from the Sustainable Development Report 2020, four clusters were identified. Bulgaria falls into the second cluster, along with Croatia, Cyprus, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland and Sweden. The main conclusion for countries in the second cluster is that there are significant challenges for Goal 2 and Goal 14, challenges remain for Goal 3 and Goal 15 and major challenges for Goal 12.

Nowadays sustainable development is a central concept for our age. It is both a way ofunderstanding the world and a method for solving global problems. It is currently a crucial concept for the world to understand and to implement. This research study focuses on examining the foundations of achieving sustainable development and main factors influencing this process at a national level. The aim is to characterize those factors which influence this implementation process mainly from the economic point of view. However, other noneconomic factors related to human well-being and organizational development are not omitted. Countries’ political and legislative environment are also evaluated since they can have significant implications for development of individual organizations conducting their business activities within countries' borders. The focus of examining the topic of countries’ sustainable development is on the cross-country comparison. Values of some important indicators are also provided in terms of comparison among selected countries which enables us to explain the reasons for differences in countries’ development, as well as predictions for the future. Historical perspective provides data which enable to evaluate influence of selected factors in terms of countries’ path to achieving sustainable development.

Development of territories with excessive mineral resource use is traditionally based on income from mining and mineral resources processing. At the same time, their ecosystems are an important source of human well-being as they produce many ecosystem services. Reaching a compromise between two sources of territory development – abiotic services (coal mining) and ecosystem services – is one of the major objectives of sustainable development of the regions with excessive mineral resource use. This article assesses and compares ecosystem and abiotic services in the coal-mining area in Kemerovo oblast in monetary and physical terms. The results of economic evaluation of ecosystem and abiotic services are considered to be a key element in efficiency assessment of spatial organization of environmental management concerning sustainable development of the territory.
