This paper examines the extent to which sustainable development principles are practiced in rural life in Malaysia. The first part of the paper defines the concept and principles of rural sustainability. The second part highlights the findings of a case study on rural sustainability practice of a rural community in Malaysia. These include the practice of recycling and reuse of materials, utilization of electricity, water and chemical substances, mode of transport, diversification of economic activities and social cohesion. The study indicates that the level of awareness and the practice of sustainability principles are still low among rural people. Few measures are suggested to promote greater awareness and the practice of rural sustainability in rural areas.

The most attractive tourist destinations are those that have preserved natural and geographical environment, protected nature and anthropogenic tourist motives attracting domestic and foreign tourists. Very often rural and mountainous areas in Serbia have been neglected, without developmental perspectives. Sustainable tourism development in these areas represents conditionality for the use of tourism areas, so that they are not destroyed in such a way that future generations cannot use them. Destinations that have the capability to offer such tourism resources are able to be competitors in the tourism market. The significance of tourism development for rural and mountainous parts of Serbia is extremely high given that world tourism trends are oriented towards such destinations. It is about poorly developed areas. This chapter aims at understanding the potential of mountains and rural parts of Eastern Serbia and their inclusion into the tourism offer, using the long-term concept of sustainable development of this part of Serbia.

In Romania, territorial/spatial development is understood as the process of transforming the geography of inhabited territories, taking into consideration: territorial planning, urban planning and development, public works, habitat and housing, construction. It is governed by the regulatory framework in force, aligning its policies and strategies with the main reference documents at the European level. The construction sector is a key sector for investment and economic development, playing an important role in achieving the sustainable development objectives through the impact that the quality of construction has on the quality of life and by ensuring the necessary environment for most human activities. The building permit is the final authority act of the local public administration on the basis of which the execution of construction works is allowed in accordance with the measures provided by law regarding the placement, design, construction, operation and post-use of buildings. Starting from comparative structural analyses on the number of building permits issued by the local public administrations in the South-East Region, the objective of this research has been to obtain a dynamic image, through a quantitative assessment, of the number of building permits issued for residential buildings, highlighting the way in which they directly influence the sustainable development of urban and rural localities in the South-East Region of Romania.

Study purpose: scientific substantiation of an innovative approach to economic concepts related to productivity and determination of the location of labor productivity in the product value added chain to ensure sustainable development. Methodology: the development of a model for creating added value with the allocation of a stage in it at which human labor is used, allowed the author to determine the possibility of setting goals for the short, medium and long term for various stages of production. The article substantiates the need to divide the principles of calculating labor productivity by stages of added value creation, highlighting the stage of creating innovations. As a result of the decomposition of the goals of the production system, the author comes to the conclusion that there is a need for more accurate positioning of labor productivity in the value-added chain and the transition from setting the goal of increasing labor productivity to solving a problem that ensures an increase in the efficiency and stability of the entire economic system. As a result of the research, a model for coordinating the growth of labor productivity and investment directions to achieve high rates of productivity and stability of the economic system has been drawn up.

Abstract The article conducted a study on approaches to the strategy of sustainable development of transport systems on the example of air transport in Ukraine. The shortcomings of the main tool of their strategy, namely the methods of classical forecasting, which limit its application, are revealed. The methods of forecasting based on expert judgment and classical methods of forecasting containing congenital pathology of errors are considered. Therefore, long-term factors and trends are identified, which remains a classic forecast, rather than building long-term forecasts of the national economy. To implement the stage of strategic planning of transport systems used the concept of sustainable development, which includes stages of identification through integrated assessment in the measurement of safety and strategy by defining goals, building the desired trajectory and decomposition of integrated indices through adaptive control methods of management theory. Three scenarios for the development of air transport in Ukraine have been developed: realistic - 3.8%; optimistic -7.0% and balanced - increase in gross value added (GVA) by 11.7% with scientific substantiation of quantitative values of indicators and key macroeconomic indicators, which guarantees the desired trajectory of sustainable development, and monitoring their implementation determines the effectiveness of public policies and actions.

It has been established that agriculture is the backbone of Cameroon's economy, where 80% of the labor force is engaged in the agricultural sector and provides 22.3% of gross domestic product and 30% of its export revenues. The investigated branch forms the commodity supply of agricultural products both on the domestic and foreign markets, the following types of products: cocoa, coffee, cotton, bananas, palm oil, tobacco, tea, pineapple, corn, millet, sorghum, yams, potatoes, beans and rice. It has been determined that the livestock sector has been developed throughout the country and plays an especially important role in the northern region of the country. It has been proved that the main goal of the country's agricultural development is to ensure food security, whose achievement is strongly influenced by globalization of climate change. For the country under study, the country's orientation towards a "product concept" is characteristic, in which the main objective is to ensure the physical and economic availability of agricultural food. The strategic priorities in the country's agricultural development, which include the mobilization of local resources for intensive production taking into account environmental requirements, are highlighted. It is substantiated that today specialized regions have been formed in relation to the production of certain types of products, which allowed to increase the productivity of agricultural crops. It is noted that there are differences in indicators of productivity of agricultural production in farms and research stations, which proves the existence of unused reserves for improving production efficiency. The characteristic features of development of agricultural production of the country are systematized: low level of technical support; a manifestation of the tendency to increase the land of farms; the prevalence of small commodity producers; low income farmers; predominance of informal economic relations; use of manual labor; complicated access to loan financing sources; low level of involvement of commodity producers in value added chains. It is proved that under conditions of intensification of investment activity in the country's agriculture and realization of the foreseen measures of the strategic national plan, conditions and preconditions for effective development, modernization of production infrastructure, access of farmers to sources of financing and other components of sustainable development will be formed. It is highlighted that one of the conditions for the sustainable development of agriculture in the country is the intensification of agricultural production, which will promote ecological and social sustainability. Important instruments for its achievement are technological innovations in the direction of introducing new or improved agro technology of cultivation and modern management practices, new breeds of farm animals and poultry, integrated practices for improving soil fertility and widespread replacement of manual labor. Innovative solutions need to be coordinated with the specifics of the production process, and in terms of environmental and water and energy intensity. Key words: agriculture, food safety, farmer, innovation, investment attractiveness.
