This study compares males and females perception of the effect of social media on their social interaction to understand the difference between both genders. The study follows a mixed-method methodology using a questionnaire with closed-ended items and open-ended questions. Responses to the questionnaire are collected form 207 male and female students from a public university in Saudi Arabia. In general, the results of the questionnaire are insignificant which indicate that there are no differences between both genders. However, the results of the open-ended questions show that females have a negative view of the effect of social media on human relations while males have a positive point of view. However, both genders have a positive point of view regarding balancing between friends and family in real life and virtual world through time management.

Observing tradition Abstract This article pretend procedure to the reflection of different view that the modernity project over “societies of tradition”, look at them sometimes from the negative point of view in its disorder, sometimes from the positive point of view, from its order immanent. Pierre Clastres is one of our present anthropologist that focus the manner through the societies supposed primitive are often perceive by absence in the prism of occidental civilization: because of absence of job, state and order. George Balandier puts in question this occidental imaginary about traditional societies, even when those societies appears like expression of positive and of the balance. For Balandier order and disorder are regulator category of human life; this author thinks that we need rethink the conceit of tradition endowed of movement. Thus, “the people of tradition”, can not be viewed like stagnated, standing up still, but immersed in others temporary rhythm, with own dynamics, even in the meeting (confront) with the modernity.

This study shows how cartoonists use iconic and stereotypical animals in their works to reflect society’s knowledge about the effects of climate change. Studying 1022 climate change cartoons including depictions of animals, we noticed that there is very little biodiversity depicted in cartoons. Cartoonists generally avoid using animals indigenous to their own countries; this point is especially true regarding the low presence of insects and other invertebrates. This text also encourages cartoonists to adhere to some recommendations to improve climate change communication. These guidelines are (1) using indigenous wildlife, (2) depicting invertebrate wildlife, (3) improving their knowledge about the biogeographical distribution of each species to avoid spreading misconceptions and (4) developing climate change communication from a positive point of view, appealing to potential improvements against the climate crisis, both for humans and for the rest of the species.

The theme of loneliness is one with a very long history, in ancient times being debated by philosophers and usually regarded from a positive point of view. The present work does not highlight the positive aspects of loneliness, but aproaches loneliness as a negative experience that accompanies the use of alcohol. Thus, we discuss about loneliness as the way in which individuals perceive, experience and evaluate the lack of communication with others. Then, we examine the relationship between loneliness and alcohol use, either as a cause, effect or maintenance factor. The paper highlights the interplay between loneliness and alcohol use and its importance in specialised treatment of the alcoholics. Also, the purpose of this paper is to illustrate the imperative need for the specialists to adress the problems that our clients deal with, from more that just a biological perspective. The case study illustrates a female's three attempts to escape alcohol dependence, each of the three attempts, enriching the intervention in order to compose a multi-faceted intervention, that we hope it will, ultimately, prove to be complete.
