To make utility function reflect the comprehensive utility of things and decision, and consider the uncertainty in the decision analysis and things acknowledge, a deeply analysis of the set pair character of utility function is carried on from three aspects: risk aversion, risk neutral and risk pursuit, and then the set pair connection function of risk preference was constructed. Finally, the posture of preference connection degree was discussed.

Because treatment of diabetic ulcers includes various uncertainties, efficacy assessments are needed and significant. In previous studies, set pair analysis (SPA) has been applied to the efficacy assessments of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) that pick out uncertainties related to the development and prognosis of disease. Optimized clinical protocols of SPA improve clinical efficacy. In the article, cloud model (CM) is employed to improve SPA, and a novel efficacy assessment method for a treatment of diabetic ulcers is proposed based on the cloud model-set pair analysis (CM-SPA). It is recommended to replace connection degree (CD) with cloud connection degree (CCD) that the efficacy assessment results are shown as normal clouds. Then, three diabetic ulcers patients treated with TCM made importance assessment by both CM-SPA and AHP based SPA. The comparison of assessment results shows that the CM-SPA is efficacious for the efficacy assessment of a treatment for diabetic ulcers and the results will be more scientific and accurate via CM-SPA.

In order to make a reasonable evaluation of highway traffic safety facilities, a comprehensive evaluation method based on set pair analysis was proposed. An evaluation system of freeway traffic safety facilities was established. Combined with relevant norms and standards, each indicator in the evaluation system was divided and a reasonable threshold has been set. Through the calculation of the connection degree of ‘identicalness, differentness and reverse’, the maximum connection degree criterion was used to judge the evaluation results of freeway traffic safety facilities. Finally a case study was conducted to verify the proposed evaluation method. The case study shows that the selected highway traffic safety facilities are at a good level and this method can provide scientific decision basis for highway traffic facility renovation.

Protein complexes are a cornerstone of many biological processes and, together, they form various types of molecular machinery that perform a vast array of biological functions. Different complexes perform different functions and, the same complex can perform very different functions that depend on a variety of factors. Thus disruption of protein complexes can be lethal to an organism. It is interesting to identify a minimal set of proteins whose removal would lead to a massive disruption of protein complexes and, to understand the biological properties of these proteins. A method is presented for identifying a minimum number of proteins from a given set of complexes so that a maximum number of these complexes are disrupted when these proteins are removed. The method is based on spectral bipartitioning. This method is applied to yeast protein complexes. The identified proteins participate in a large number of biological processes and functional modules. A large proportion of them are essential proteins. Moreover, removing these identified proteins causes a large number of the yeast protein complexes to break into two fragments of nearly equal size, which minimizes the chance of either fragment being functional. The method is also superior in these aspects to alternative methods based on proteins with high connection degree, proteins whose neighbors have high average degree, and proteins that connect to lots of proteins of high connection degree. Our spectral bipartitioning method is able to efficiently identify a biologically meaningful minimal set of proteins whose removal causes a massive disruption of protein complexes in an organism.

This study investigates the influence of partial shear interaction and partial strength beam-to-column joints on the seismic performance of a multi-story composite frame. The moment-rotation relationship of the beam-to-column joints and the force-slip curve of the beam-to-slab connections have been calibrated on the basis of available experimental tests. The results of the numerical investigations show that the energy dissipation of the composite frame increases by reducing the shear connection degree. The shear connection degree has a significant effect on the total dissipated energy in case of rigid joints, whereas in case of partial strength joints the contribution of the joints to the dissipated energy is predominant. Low shear connection degrees can provide a source of dissipated hysteretic energy, above all in case of rigid joints, and can reduce the ductility demand on other parts of a composite frame, such as partial strength beam-to-column joints. However, the shear connection degree should be high enough in order to protect shear connectors from failure.

In this research, the results of three composite open web steel joist static tests are presented along with the results of companion pushout tests. The effect of shear connection degree and span-to-depth ratio on the behavior of composite open web joists under distributed static loading is reviewed and discussed, followed by a comparison of results of the shear stud strength from push-out tests, back-calculated from the ultimate capacity of the composite joist tests, and to the provisions in the AISC, EC4, NZS, SJI, and BS5950. Specimen test results of the studied span-to-depth ratios showed that the load-deflection behavior was similar to ultimate capacity difference less than 10%, but they experienced different failure modes and deflection. And when the test results were compared based on the shear connection degree, they revealed that the composite open web joist designed with partial shear connection suffered from severe deformation and deflection accompanied with higher ultimate capacity

In mineral resources prediction and other research of geological variables, stability exactness of quantitative models concern modeling conditions, geological variables from model and the status of the variable. In traditional geological modeling process, variable support is measured under some contrains weight and this kind of weight is characterized by constant coefficients. Constant weight[1] has some limitations due to structuredness and dependency of variable. For overcoming the inflexibility of constant weight, this paper proposes geological variable mathematics model basedd state variable vector. We revise existing form of state variable weight and provide logarithm state variable vector as measurement level of geological variable weight coefficients. According to 1:200000 scale geochemistry measured data from Baishan area, we calculate the samples unit connection degree based on exponent and logarithm state variable vector and compare the connection degree based on constant weight. The connection degree sorting has the similarity as a whole among them, but there is the obvious difference locally. We can conclude that geological variable weight function based on state variable vector is more flexible and fine.
