The symposium is one of the parallel sessions of 2021 2nd International Youth Scientist Forum (IYSF 2021). It aimed to provide a platform for interdisciplinary cooperation and communication for young scholars to lighten academic atmosphere, encourage innovation, create cooperation opportunities and boost young scholars’ growth. With the forum based on the display of the frontiers of science, we invited well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad as well as the outstanding youth who work for science and technology to deliver academic reports. It is expected that the forum can provide a free academic atmosphere to encourage our distinguished guests to share their views, ignite new ways of thinking and harvest new ideas. About 80 participants from academic, high-education institutes and other organizations took part in the conference. The conference model was divided into two sessions, including oral presentations and keynote speeches. In the first part, some scholars, whose submissions were selected as the excellent papers, were given 15 minutes to perform their oral presentations one by one. Then in the second part, keynote speakers were each allocated 30-45 minutes to hold their speeches. We were very honored to have Prof. Tiantai Li, from Xi’an Shiyou University and Prof. Qing Jiang, from Jilin University as our Conference Chairman. Material industry is a basic industry in our national economy. In order to develop our new material industry, the independent innovation capability should be improved and the compound innovation talents of science and technology should be trained. The popularization education of the intellectual property should be brought into the quality education system of the college students. This is of important significance for developing the strategic new industry in the field of new material. Combined the training practice on the innovation talents of science and technology in the industries of the new energy and environment functional materials, the education mode of the intellectual property for the compound innovation talents of science and technology in the functional material industry was studied.

The new curriculum for compulsory education in Norway defines “Technology and design” as a multidisciplinary area, and this area has received a relatively strong position in the curriculum for science. This article describes the process of defining Technology and design in the formal curriculum. It then presents an analysis of how the curriculum approaches Technology and design in various phases towards the final formal curriculum. The analysis focuses on how ideas from Design & Technology as a subject in England and Wales have influenced the formation of the curriculum, and what relationship between science and technology it communicates. It is concluded that there has been a shift from new ideas towards more traditional science content during the process. The new science curriculum nevertheless facilitates a “partnership approach” to science and technology teaching in Norwegian schools, rather than communicating a view of technology as “applied science”

AbstractLife cycle analysis becomes especially important for characterizing new material forms in new energy generation technologies intended to replace or improve the current infrastructure of energy production. We propose a comparative life-cycle analysis framework for investigating the effect of introducing nanotechnology in the life cycle of new photovoltaics, which focuses on the differences between the new technologies and the ones that they may replace. The following parameters are investigated within this framework: methods of synthesizing nanoparticles, physicochemical specifications of the precursors, material utilization rates, deposition rates, energy-conversion efficiencies, and lifetime expectancy of the final product. We introduce the application of this framework in comparing nano-structured cadmium telluride and silicon films with their nano- and amorphous- structured equivalents.

For the individuals participating in the Mesolithic–Neolithic transition, one question must have recurrently emerged as a prime concern: ‘Should I mistrust traditions and consider innovations’? This concern encompassed the introduction of new material culture and new techniques of obtaining food. It also involved new ways of conceiving the world and people's place in it. And it was affected by important – sometimes catastrophic – changes in the physical environment. It must be emphasized that the question of whether to mistrust traditions and consider innovations is not only a matter of concern for prehistoric actors. It is also important for those who are making prehistory today. As is presented in this chapter, the facts presented for south Scandinavia have been variously interpreted as indicating the rapid introduction of a ‘Neolithic’ package with new ways of thinking and acting, as well as reflecting a mixture of traditions and gradually incorporated innovations. Future research into the transition should focus on combining new problem-oriented excavation with fresh ideas about how the transition from the Mesolithic to the Neolithic occurred.
