Abstract Renewable energy is alternative energy for the future. One renewable energy that is easy to develop is solar power generation. In this study, we will discuss the effect of the tilt angle on the solar panel and the value of the intensity of sunlight on the resulting output voltage. The data collection process was carried out at the Mechanical and Electrical Power System Laboratory, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. The data collection stage was carried out at an angle of 0°, 30°, and 60°. The results showed that the smaller the value of the intensity of sunlight, the smaller the output voltage produced. The tilt angle of the solar panel at 30° has a maximum output voltage more significant than the angle of 60° and 0°.

The goal of power sector in Nigeria is to efficiently and reliably transmit electrical power to all parts of the country which are made up of thirty-six states of the federation and the federal capital territory. The constituents of electrical power system are the generation, transmission, distribution and the utilization of electrical energy. There is gross power imbalance between the generation and the required power demand which has culminated into a defective economy in the last three decades. This paper therefore examines the power imbalance between the generation and power demand by the consumers and therefore stresses the need to harness the opportunity of renewable energy generation close to the gap between the power generation and power demand. This will help in transmitting and distributing efficient, effective, reliable power to consumers and improve both human and capital development. The availability of renewable energy sources such as sun, wind and small hydro power will be explored for the future of power generation in the country to fill in the gap between power generation and demand in Nigeria

People can make solar energy alternative energy by employing solar panels to generate electricity. The utilization of solar energy on a solar panel to generate electricity is affected by the weather and the duration of the radiation, and they will affect the solar panel’s temperature. There are various types of solar panels that can be found on the market today, including Mono-Crystalline and Poly-Crystalline. The difference in the material used needs to be observed in terms of temperature changes in the solar module. Our study’s findings showed that a change in the temperature would impact the solar panel’s output voltage, and the solar panel’s output voltage would change when it was connected to the load although the measured temperatures were almost the same.

The system represented during this paper uses 3 matrix converters and a high frequency electrical device to attain isolation and voltage transformation from primary to secondary aspect. Two matrix converters manufacture high frequency voltage across a transformer, with open all over primary. a 3rd matrix device converts the high frequency cut voltage to line frequency. The non-idealities like outflow inductance of the electrical device have a big impact on the device performance. This paper studies the impact of outflow inductance on the regulation of the output voltage of the device. The simulation study has been carried out in SIMULINK and also the results are presented.

The governments of US, Japan, Europe are planning overall change of electrical power system by adapting Smart Grid as a solution of increasing demand of electricity every year. Especially, ESS have been actively studied to plan efficient use of electrical power and grid-connected. Korea government have been proceeding not only plan of renewable energy but also spread of smart grid. At the same time they have been discussing introduction of ESS which is effective solution of demand response and new growth power. In this study, according to K-ESS policy which is governmental policy of popularizing ESS. we suggest REC weighting value control among the a lot of supporting method that if renewable Genco apply ESS system they would not suffer from lose. It is meaningful because it could be referred to the way of offering governmental incentive for the purpose of decrease peak level and enhance the contribution level of peak.

Utilization of renewable energy for the reduction of fuel consumption and green house gas (GHG) emissions in the shipping industry has been increased rapidly in the recent years. Wind energy is a clean renewable energy with no pollution which is abundantly available at sea. This paper proposes two different possible configurations of connecting wind power energy into the ship’s main grid bus system . Wind electrical energy output has been connected to ship’s main ac bus system in one configuration and it is connected to ship’s main dc bus system. Even though Wind assisted ship propulsion (WASP) had been started already in the last decades in the form of wing sails, kites, Flettener rotor etc which could assist auxiliary propulsion of the ships, the application of wind power generator on the ship is not often applied. Therefore this paper has a relevant significance in applying wind electrical energy for the marine electrical power system needs. This paper also reveals the benefits and challenges in the area of onboard wind generation and opens future research possibilities in integrating wind energy into marine industry.

The utilization of renewable and eco-friendly source of energy which is also referred as “Alternative Energy” is now being recognized around the world, particularly the Solar Energy. The study proposes a grid-tied photovoltaic system with net-metering that generates electricity that is linked in the electrical grid, where in excess power is sold to the utility company. The objective is to improve the cost of energy consumption of Don Honorio Ventura State University Main Campus by designing and assessing Electrical Power System that lessens the dependency on the Distribution Utility (DU). The design of the system used with respect to the roofing area per building is (3,464) 300 Watts polycrystalline PV panels, (2) uni-directional or (1) bi-directional meter for monitoring the import and export energy, and 30kW-100kW inverter to convert DC (direct current) to AC (alternating current). The computation of the savings was based on the total kWh used per month with the system installed and includes the excess or export energy that is generated from the PV solar panels. Through the assessment of the proposed system, it will surely help Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) Main Campus to save monthly electric bill and lessen the dependency of the University to the utility grid. Since DHVSU’s building are secondary metered by the Distribution Utility, there is a need to install separate PV System set-up tp meet the individual electrical requirement. The PV system will be installed via On-Grid Connection to the DU subject to the Net Metering rules and guidelines as stated by the Renewable Energy Act of 2008.

This paper presents a designing piezoelectric harvesting energy device by having mechanical stressWhole system of the designing must be verified and validated through extensive experimental tests. The system structure consists of controller circuit that uses to simulate the system and show the amount of voltage. This generated electrical energy can be harvested using the principle of piezoelectric energy conversion. The propose design is divided into three categories, which are designing the prototype, electronic part and mechanical part. Designing proper mechanisms for exciting the piezoelectric device is necessary also proper electronic control circuits must be designed and modeled. It is used before implementing to the energy storage using a typical bettery. The project gives a new idea to develop a renewable energy as an electrical power system that can generate a power from having a lot of force from people moving so that they would not only depend on the hydro and coal power system.

In India, Electrical Power System is adapted to handle both constant loads and variable loads, also power is generated in two types; one is due to fossil fuels, and another one is due to renewable energy sources. However, renewable energy sources are playing a vital role in the production of clean energy and also useful for the reduction in greenhouse emission. Nevertheless, when there is any additional change in the generation side concerning to input supply, which is due to the uncertainty of nature, can create new challenges for the system operators and utility centers. It is not an easy task for the utility centres and supply operators to integrate variable renewable energy sources with the utility grid. This paper explores an overview of some operational techniques and solutions, which are helpful for high penetration of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind energy. It also explores operation, control management and challenges due to renewable energy when they integrated with the utility grid. By interfacing of renewable energy sources with a utility grid with proper management and control can provide bi-directional communication between suppliers and consumers smartly. The aim of integrating large scale renewable sources from transmission and distribution network into an existing system is to reduce the power quality issues, demand response, forecasting, peak demand, and improve network security, fast scheduling and dispatch, aiming towards smart grid technology for electrical power systems.
