Abstract The Arut River flows through the city of Pangkalan Bun in Central Kalimantan and is the forerunner of the formation of this city. The structure of the residential space formed by houses on stilts and wooden roads further strengthens the existence of riverside settlements. The settlements on the banks of the Arut River currently function not only as residences but also tourist attractions with the concept of a waterfront city. Waterfront city in Pangkalan Bun City began to be developed in 2018 in Mendawai Village. Tourism activities on the banks of the Arut River have affected the use of residential space, so this study aims to find changes in residential space as a result of the development of tourism activities. The research methodology used is rationalistic qualitative with an empirical and spatial approach. The results showed that public residential spaces such as roads and rivers underwent more changes, on certain days and hours the street space turned into parking, selling areas, and sitting/“hanging out” areas. Private spaces such as houses also turn into stalls/shops and inns.

In a number of manufacturing processes, tooling installation, calibration and maintenance guarantee the precision of fixtures and play important roles towards the overall quality of products. Recently a new type of measurement equipment called “laser tracker” was developed and utilized for assembly fixture calibration to shorten calibration time and improve the accuracy of the currently used theodolite systems. Though, the calibration of assembly fixture is critical for product quality, the calibration time creates significant burden for productivity of multi-station assembly processes. In order to shorten the calibration lead time, the number of necessary calibration setups which is determined by visibility analysis needs to be minimized. This paper presents a screen space transformation based visibility analysis that allows minimizing the number of setups. The screen space transformation is applied to transform the visibility problem from 3D to 2D space, consequently the visibility problem can be solved efficiently. A case study illustrates the procedure and verifies the validity of the proposed methodology.

The government is currently conducting programs to provide subsidized housing in order to meet the needs of low-income people. Some of the houses provided have, however, been modified by the residents to ensure proper and effective implementation of their activities and this indicates a benchmark of the dissatisfaction of the residents and omission of a particular thing in the initial design of the subsidized housing program provided by the government. The Grand Permata Residence II Housing used as a case study has a house with type 36/91 m2 and 13 out of 14 respondents have transformed their residential space according to their economic capacity as low-income people. This study was, therefore, conducted to map the residential space transformation of the subsidized housing program provided by the government and determine the causative factors. Primary data were obtained in the form of designs and photos of space transformation through direct observation and interviews with residents while secondary data were in the form of initial floor plans retrieved from the housing manager and analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. The findings serve as an evaluation for the government in designing subsidized housing which meets the target and needs of low-income people.

Space transformation occurs in line with the needs and availability of resources owned by space users. The arrangement and utilization of space is carried out to optimize the function of the space owned and the limited space owned by the space user requires an adjustment in the use of the space owned to achieve business goals as well as the comfort of the living environment. Pante Bidari is a banana sale    producing area in Aceh, which is located in East Aceh Regency, where the majority of the people work as small entrepreneurs and   workers in the Banana Sale Industry. This study aims to determine how the transformation of space in a small banana sale house. The method used in this research is a qualitative method. This study found that the spatial transformation that occurred in the small businessman's house of Pisang Sale in Pante Bidari District, East Aceh Regency is one way to optimize the utilization and         utilization of space, so that the Pisang Sale production room consists of storage room, stripping room, sale room and packaging room. using residential space as an aspect of activity in residential homes, so that ongoing activities are not disturbed by other activities,       residential space in terms of space dimensions there are changes that include addition, reduction and movement of space aimed at adjusting space requirements. Judging from the spatial relationship, there are several spaces that are far from each other and close to each other, so that access to activities carried out can optimize the function of the space.

The Covid-19 pandemic has encouraged a shift to smart-working both for companies as well as their employees. Work-related activities once performed in dedicated offices had to be moved to private spaces of individual homes, severely influencing how people use their residential space. Living and working conditions have been modified and the balance between them – interrupted. In this paper the authors present a study of the changes in the use of residential space based on questionnaires addressed to respondents in five age groups (up to 25, 26-35, 36-50, 51-65, more than 65), and living or studying in and around Milan (Lombardy), an area affected severely by Covid-19 between March and May 2020. The obtained questionnaire results have allowed the authors to create a set of apartment design requirements, which improve the performance of space. Research has led to a model-case study apartment.
