Abstract The field experiment was carried out at the Researches Station and Agricultural Experiments/College of Agriculture/Al-Muthanna University during the summer agricultural season 2020 on Okra plant. To study foliar spraying application of Proline from three levels (0, 40 and 80) mg.L−1 and gave P0, P1 and P2 respectively, Zinc sulphate (0, 20 and 40) mg.L−1 and given these Zn0, Zn1 and Zn2. Using the randomized complete block design (R.C.B.D.) and each treatment was treated in three replicates. Means were compared using L.S.D at 0.05 level of significance. The results of the experiment showed The treatment of P2 spraying with proline concentration (80 mg.L−1) was superior in the percentage of Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in leaves, Number of branches, Leaves area and Plant yield (g) (3.09%, 0.44%, and 2.88%, 9.04 branch plant−1, 0.723m2, 303.39 g.plant−1) respectively. The results also showed that Zn2 treatment was elevated (40 mg.L−1) on all measured indicators (3.29%, 0.37%, 2.83%, 8.76 branch plant−1, 0.763 m2, 334.35 g.plant−1). the outperformed was in the significant effect of interaction treatment proline and zinc sulphate P2Zn2 on all measured indicators.

<p><em>The low level of micro nutrients will cause a deficiency in plants, but even the slightest excess will be toxic.</em><em> </em><em>This research aimed to know the possible physiology effect of foliar application of boron, silica and their interaction on growth and yield of rice in high boron content media. The research was conducted in the Integrated Green house Field Laboratory, College of Agriculture, University of Lampung from October 2014 to March 2015. The treatments were arranged in a 3</em><em> </em><em>x</em><em> </em><em>5 factorial by applying in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with two replications. The first factor was boron applied with concentrations of 0, 10 and 20 ppm, respectively. The second factor was silica applied with concentrations of 0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 ppm, respectively. The homogeneity of variance was tested using Bartlett’s test and the non-additivity of model using Tukey’s test. The differences of treatment mean were analyzed using orthogonal contrast and polynomial at 5% and 1% probability level. The results showed that the foliar application of boron, silica and their interaction did not affect growth and yield of rice in high boron content media.</em><em> </em><em>The high formation of wax in the cuticle layer supported by high levels of boron may cause boron and silica which was applied through the leaves difficult to be absorbed by plants.</em><em> </em></p>

This study was conducted in one of the unheated plastic house at the Department of Horticulture and Landscape design, College of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Mosul during spring season 2018 to study the impact of two factors, the first: Tuber depth , 10 and 15 cm, the second: Zinc sulphate spraying on potato plants Actrice variety, 0, 150, 300 and 450 mg. l-1, the experiment was designed in the Split Plot system within a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replicates. The results could be summarized as: Tuber planted at 15 cm depth and spraying with zinc sulphate 450 mg. l-1 increased plant higher, number of stems per plant, leaf area per plant, whole dry matter percentage, number of tubers per plant, plant yield and total mg. l-1 .

This rsearch was conducted on apricot trees cv. Labeeb at the college of Agriculture – University of  Baghdad/ Abu Gharib during the growing seasons 2013 and 2014, to investigate the effect of organic fertilizer extract and the method of  application on growth and yield parameters, the extract was applied in the biggning of spring by two ways the first foliar application with three concentrations 1, 2 and 3 g.L-1 and second ground application 2, 4 and 6 g.L-1. The experiment were designed using Randomized Complete Block Design (R.C.B.D) and Genstat program for statistical analysis. Results of the first season showed that the foliar spraying with high concentration gave highest values for branches length, leaf area and fruit set percentage (12.39 cm), (20.86 cm2) and (10.62%)respectively, while the ground application superior in the high level by gaving leaves dry weight was 45.64%, but the results completely differed in the second season. The foliar spraying with higher concentration caused high content of chlorophyll in the leaves during both seasons (28.68) and (31.22) SPAD unit respectively, while applying of extract in the soil with high level showed highest yield quantity (16.957 and 18.207 kg.tree-1) respectively for both seasons. Ground application was the best method for fertilization with X-Humate85 extract.

Experiments were carried out at the student’s experimental field, Kabba College of Agriculture, Horticulture section to examine the effect of soil application of cow dung combined with foliar application of boost extra on growth and yield of okra in an ultisol, Nigeria. The land was ploughed each year and harrowed with the aid of tractor mounted implements. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD). The treatments consisted of A = 3t/ha cow dung, B = 1.0 L/ha foliar + 2.5t/ha cow dung, C =1.5L/ha foliar + 2t/ha cow dung, D    = 2 L/ha foliar      + 1.5 t/ha cow dung, E = 2.5L/ha foliar + 1.0t/ha cow dung, F = 3t/ha foliar. Each year experiment was conducted using a single field having dimension of 35 by 14m which was laid out into three blocks with 1m guard row between blocks. Each block consists of six plots (5 by 4m) and 1m guard row between plots. Cow dung manure was applied a week before planting. Okra variety Lady’s finger was used. Three seeds per hole were planted on April 4th in both years on the flat with a spacing of 60cm x 25cm between and within the rows and later thinned to one plant per stand. Data taken included plant height at 50 % flowering, number of branches per plant, leaf area, pod length, pod diameter, number of pods per plant; and pod weight and yield (t/ha). The data were subjected to Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) while the Least Significant Difference (LSD) was used to separate treatment means. The result shows that plot treated with 2.0L/ha foliar + 1.5 t/ha cow dung had the best performance in yield and yield components in this study. It is therefore recommended that okra farmers should integrated foliar fertilizer (boost extra) at the rate of 2L per hectare with cow dung at rate of 1.5t per hectare be used for okra production in the study area.

An experiment was conducted in unheated greenhouse units of the Department of Horticulture and Landscape -College of Agriculture- University of Baghdad on the first of October,   to observe the effects of amony interaction of crown diameter, chilling,  and foliar application of gibberellic acid on vegetative growth, and reproductive in cv. ‘Festival’ of strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa (Duch)). Using randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD), Plants were sorted into two groups according to crown diameter (11-15mm (Cd1)  and  6-10 mm (Cd2)), each of them sorted into two groups [Ch0 (without cold storage) and Ch1 (kept in a cold storage for  three weeks at 1-2°C), gibberellic acid was sprayed on plants, with concentration treatments included a control (G0) (distilled water), 150 mg. L–1 (G1) and 300 mg. L–1 (G2).The results showed the highest leaf number and Leaf area. Plant-1, (26.33), (29.70 dcm2) in (Cd1.Ch1.GA0) and (Cd1.Ch1. GA1) respectively, Number of stolon increased significantly by GAs application, the highest number were (8.3) in (Cd1.Ch1. GA2). The highest value of the TSS % was produced from the plants under the effect of  the treatment (Cd1.Ch1. GA0) (8.5%) and the highest pH were 3.70 from the treatment (Cd2.Ch0.GA2). The results indicated the superiority of treatment (Cd1.Ch0.GA0)     in fruit number (22.4), weight (17.77g) and a plant yield (398.2g).

The experiment was conducted at the College of Agriculture- Laboratory, Mindanao State UniversityMarawi City. Objective of the study is to determine the effects of Oriental Herbal Nutrients (OHN) on the growth and yield performance of lettuce. Treatments are: T1 (Garlic), T2 (Ginger), T3 (Black Pepper), T4 (Onion), and T5 (Control) with a dilution rate of concoction of 1 tbsp. OHN: 1 liter of water. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. Plant height, number of leaves developed, pest incidence, insect damage rate, weight per plant, and yield per plot were measured. Result showed that the highest treatment mean (6.32 cm.) was recorded in T4 and the lowest (4.03 cm.) was in T5 which revealed a highly significant effect. The highest treatment mean (5.17) for the number of leaves was found in T4 and the lowest (3.89) was observed in T5. In the case of insect damage rate, the highest treatment mean scale of 1.98 was obtained in T5 and the lowest (1.31) was observed in T3. In addition, the highest treatment mean (4.91) for pest incidence was observed in T5 and the lowest (2.08) was found in T1 which showed a highly significant result as well. In addition, the weight per plant revealed the highest treatment mean (49.25) in T4 and the lowest (29.41) was observed in T5. Study revealed that the highest and lowest yield per plot with 4.15 and 2.57 treatment mean were observed in T4 and T5, respectively. In this experiment, the application of OHN significantly influences the growth and yield performance of lettuce.

Abstract An experiment was conducted in the field of the College of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Mosul, Iraq during the season 2019-2020 to study the effect of three types of compound mineral fertilizers (F1, F2 and F3) and four levels combination of fertilizers (F4, F5, F6 and F7) also with control treatment (F0) on some growth and yield parameters of cabbage plants Chairman variety, thus the experiment included eight treatments implemented in Randomized Complete Block Design (R.C.B.D) with three replications. The results were summarized as follows: the F5 fertilizer combination achieved the highest significant values in all growth and yield parameters compared to other treatment.

Garlic is an important cash crop in many regions of Ethiopia. However, the yield of the crop is constrained by several factors. Among these, inappropriate clove size is one of the major agronomic practices that can decrease the yield of the crop. Hence, a field experiment was conducted during the 2020/21 main cropping season at Debre Berhan University, College of Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences, demonstration and research site to evaluate the effect of clove size on growth and bulb yield of garlic (Allium sativum L.). The treatments consisted of five clove sizes: 1–1.49 g, 1.5–1.99 g, 2–2.50 g, 2.51–2.99 g, and 3–3.5 g. An improved variety “Tseday” was used as a planting material. The experiment was laid out as a randomized complete block design in a factorial arrangement and replicated for three times. The results revealed that clove size significantly influenced all growth and yield parameters of garlic. Planting of 3–3.5 g cloves reduced days to emergence by 11 and 6.33 days and days to maturity by 28.33 and 18.00 days, respectively, as compared to planting of 1–1.49 g and 2–2.5 g cloves. This treatment also increased total bulb yield by 25.88% and 15.58%, respectively, as compared to planting of 1–1.49 g and 2–2.5 g cloves. In addition, this treatment significantly increased most of the growth and bulb yield components. Hence, it can be concluded that planting of 3–3.5 g cloves could be recommended to enhance early emergence, good vegetative growth, and total bulb yield of garlic.

Abstract This study is conducted in the unheated greenhouse of the Department of Horticulture and Landscape-College of Agriculture – Tikrit University during the two seasons 2019-2020. It aims at comparing between vertical and terrestrial cultivation and cultivation distances in growth and yield of three cultivars of strawberry. The study includes three factors. The first factor is the method of cultivation which includes two methods of cultivation, terrestrial cultivation and vertical cultivation in pipes. The second factor is planting distances which include three distances, 15, 20 and 25 cm between one plant and another, The third factor related to varieties and includes three, namely Camarosa, Ventana and Sweet Charlie, The experiment is implemented by randomized complete block design according to the split-split Plot Design system, with three replications, each replicate containing 9 experimental units with a length of 2 meters, the cultivation method was set in the main plots and the planting distances in the sub-plots, while the cultivars took the sub-sub-plots. The results have shown the superiority of the terrestrial cultivation treatment over the vertical cultivation in each of the number of leaves, the content of the leaves from chlorophyll, the average number of fruits, the weight of the fruit and the yield of the greenhouse, which reached to 13.74 leaves of plant-1, 49.25 SPAD, 15.71 fruit plant-1, 15.28 gm, and 238.5 gm plant-1, respectively. The Sweet Charlie variety outperformed in the average number of leaves, leaf content of chlorophyll, fruit weight and greenhouse yield, with 15.97 leaves plant-1, 50.47 SPAD, 15.39 gm and 231.5 gm plant-1, respectively. The distance 25 cm between one plant and another outperformed in the above-mentioned characteristics, which reached to 13.97 leaves plant-1, 49.98 SPAD, 15.25 fruits plant-1 and 212.3 gm plant-1, respectively.

The present experiment was carried out at one field of the research station (B) belongs to Horticulture Department/College of Agriculture/ Baghdad University during the summer season of 2017 in order to study the effect of the inoculation with the mycorrhizae and spray with FeSO4 and Anti-Transpirant (Armurox) on some growth characters and yield of okra Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench. The experiment was lay out as a factorial experiment (2x3x2) in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. The total number of treatments was twelve. The three factors of the experiment included; the inoculation with mycorrhizae (M) (0 and 10 g. plant-1), spray with FeSO4 (F) (0, 0.5, and 1g.L-1), and the Anti-Transpirant ‘Armurox’ (A) (0 and 5 ml.L-1). The results showed that the three factors and their interactions had significant effects on most of the growth characters measured. The inoculation with the mycorrhizae was superior in giving higher values of plant height, number of branches and total number of leaves per plant; 139.97 cm, 15.00 branch. plant-1 and 165.85 leaf. plant-1, respectively. The M1F0A0 combination treatment recorded the highest number of branches per plant (16.50) while the M1F2A1 treatment recorded the highest values of plant height (145.66 cm), total leaves number (170.33 leaf. plant-1), leaf area (731.36 dcm-2. plant-1), number of pods (19.20 pod. plant-1), and plant yield (809.40 g. plant-1).
