Precursors to the Flood Narrative (Gen 6:5–9:17)

Contrary to some recent proposals that the (incomplete) non-P flood narrative was a scribal extension of the Priestly flood story, this chapter begins by assembling the multiple strong arguments that the non-P flood narrative, though incompletely preserved, originated as part of a separate, pre-Priestly literary source. Both the flood narrative in this pre-Priestly source and its originally separate Priestly counterpart appear to have been modeled on earlier Mesopotamian traditions about the flood and rescue of a flood hero (especially as seen in the Atrahasis epic and tablet 11 of the Gilgamesh epic), even as the P flood narrative also seems to have been influenced in some respects by its pre-Priestly flood counterpart. The present complex form of Genesis 6:5–9:17 in turn is the product of the conflation of the P flood narrative with most parts of the non-P flood narrative, with both elements expanded at points with post-P conflational additions that coordinated them. At the other end of the formation process, this chapter builds a case that the non-P flood narrative was not an original part of the non-P primeval history. Rather, it appears to have been crafted as a literary extension of that history, contrasting with and yet connecting with that history in multiple respects.

The quantitative evaluation of producer and injector well interference based on well operation data (profiles of flow rates/injectivities and bottomhole/reservoir pressures) with the help of CRM (Capacitance-Resistive Models) is an optimization problem with large set of variables and constraints. The analytical solution cannot be found because of the complex form of the objective function for this problem. Attempts to find the solution with stochastic algorithms take unacceptable time and the result may be far from the optimal solution. Besides, the use of universal (commercial) optimizers hides the details of step by step solution from the user, for example&nbsp;— the ambiguity of the solution as the result of data inaccuracy.<br> The present article concerns two variants of CRM problem. The authors present a new algorithm of solving the problems with the help of “General Quadratic Programming Algorithm”. The main advantage of the new algorithm is the greater performance in comparison with the other known algorithms. Its other advantage is the possibility of an ambiguity analysis. This article studies the conditions which guarantee that the first variant of problem has a unique solution, which can be found with the presented algorithm. Another algorithm for finding the approximate solution for the second variant of the problem is also considered. The method of visualization of approximate solutions set is presented. The results of experiments comparing the new algorithm with some previously known are given.

Language is a means of human communication through social interaction with others. According to Chomsky, language is a collection of sentences, each with a certain length and built by a set of specific elements. Language is a regular system from various forms of sounds used in expressing thoughts and feelings of the users of the language. Indonesian language was born on October 28, 1928, grew and developed from the Malay language since ancient times, and has been used as a lingua franca not only in the archipelago, but also in almost all of Southeast Asia. This study examines the language based on the internal object of linguistic study; micro linguistic and one of its sub-discipline is morphology, focused on forms of acronyms used in UPTD Balai Peralatan dan Perbekalan Dinas Pekerjaan Umum Provinsi Sulawesi Utara. The research focus is on the forms of acronyms used in UPTD Balai Peralatan dan Perbekalan Dinas Pekerjaan Umum Provinsi Sulawesi Utara. There are three forms of acronyms used by the Aparatur Sipil Negera (Civil Servant) and Tenaga Harian Lepas (Intern) on UPTD Balai Peralatan dan Perbekalan Dinas Pekerjaan Umum Provinsi Sulawesi Utara, which is acronym whose form is determined by the formation process based on the theory of O'Grady, Dobrovolsky, theory of Kridalaksana. H., and one of the form does not follow the two existing theories. Of the thirty two acronyms found, twenty nine are formal acronyms in Indonesian language and the other three are informal acronyms.

Recently published molecular phylogenies of the Annonaceae have confirmed the long-held hypothesis that the large paleotropical genus Polyalthia is polyphyletic. Species previously assigned to Polyalthia are now known to belong to up to six distinct, generally well-supported clades. Three members of a group of six species previously referred to as the Polyalthia hypoleuca complex form a monophyletic group (with 99% bootstrap support) that is only distantly related to the other species of Polyalthia sampled. Putative morphological synapomorphies are assessed, and justification provided for validating a new generic name, Maasia. Six species names in the Polyalthia hypoleuca complex are accordingly transferred to Maasia: M. discolor, M. glauca, M. hypoleuca, M. multinervis, M. ovalifolia, and M. sumatrana.

SummaryRegulation of the platelet formation process is poorly understood. It has been shown that p45NF-E2 deficient mice have a profound defect in platelet formation and recently the first platelet/megakaryocytic gene regulated by NF-E2, thromboxane synthase (TXS), has been identified. In this study, we investigated TXS expression as a model of a gene regulated by NF-E2 during MK differentiation. Megakaryocytic cells derived from blood CD34+ cells were purified according to their stage of maturation on the basis of expression of CD34, CD41a and CD42a, permitting to define different stages in MK differentiation. By means of real-time quantitative RT-PCR, we could determine that the level of TXS increased during differentiation in parallel with the expression of c-mpl and GPIIb (CD41). However, amounts of TXS transcripts increased about 1.6-fold more than that of GPIIb or c-mpl transcripts during maturation. Expression of TXS and MK specific proteins such as CD41a, CD42a and vWF was also correlated in maturing MKs. In addition, staining by anti-TXS antibody of proplatelet bearing MKs was not increased in comparison to that observed in mature MK, suggesting that TXS is not upregulated during platelet formation. In addition, we investigated whether TXS and cyclooxygenase could be involved in platelet formation by adding aspirin into the cultures. No significant decrease of platelet production was observed.In conclusion, this study shows that TXS is coordinately expressed with the other platelet proteins during MK differentiation but is not directly involved in platelet formation.

In recent years many studies have been carried out on new pigments derived from anthocyanins that appear in wine during processing and aging. This paper aims to summarize the latest research on these compounds, focusing on the structure and the formation process. The main pyranoanthocyanins are formed from the reaction between the anthocyanins and some metabolites released during the yeast fermentation: carboxypyranoanthocyanins or type A vitisins, formed upon the reaction between the enol form of the pyruvic acid and the anthocyanins; type B vitisins, formed by the cycloaddition of an acetaldehyde molecule on an anthocyanin; methylpyranoanthocyanins, resulted from the reaction between acetone and anthocyanins; pinotins resulted from the covalent reaction between the hydroxycinnamic acids and anthocyanins; and finally flavanyl-pyranoanthocyanins. On the other hand, the second generation of compounds has also been reviewed, where the initial compound is a pyranoanthocyanin. This family includes oxovitisins, vinylpyranoanthocyanins, pyranoanthocyanins linked through a butadienylidene bridge, and pyranoanthocyanin dimers.

Abstract The complex characteristics of lexical blending have long troubled mainstream word formation research to the extent that it has typically been considered a peripheral issue in linguistics. In recent years this has begun to change, and there is currently a growing body of evidence uncovering the intriguing nature of this word formation process. In the present study, underlying principles and usage-based aspects of lexical blends were examined. Analyses of derivatives of three matrix words, republican, liberal, and vegetarian, revealed the impact of three cognitive constraints on the use of lexical blends: schema transfer effects, neighborhood effects, and effects of the influence from morphological lexicalization. The first constraint fueled blend formation, while the other two displayed a hampering effect on the use of lexical blending. Furthermore, a study of the word class distribution in the datasets showed that there were significant differences in the grammar of lexical blending and compounding, respectively.

ased on examination of 56 patients, aged 8 months - 16 years, heterogeneity of congenital thumb three-phalangism was detected. Two forms of that pathology were defined: simple form (bra-chymesophalangeal, pseudothreephalangism, dolichophalangeal) and complex form (three-phalangism with combination of 1st radius hypoplasia and with combination of radial Polydactyly). The main radiologic criteria to delimit one form from the other one are the following: longitudinal and transverse sizes of 1st metacarpal bone; location of 1st metacarpal bone epiphysis; sizes and shape of additional phalangx; longitudinal size of 1st radius: volume of 1st intermetacarpal interval. Detection of malformation type is of importance for the choice of treatment tactics

The formation process of oxide nanotube via metal oxidation reaction was studied by transmission electron microscopy for Cu, Fe, and Ni nanowires. Cu2O and Fe3O4 nanotubes were formed after the oxidation of Cu and Fe nanowires with a diameter of 55 nm in air at 423 and 573 K for 3.6 ks, respectively. Both Cu2O and Fe3O4 nanotubes had a cylindrical interior pore with uniform diameter. On the other hand, Ni nanowires became bamboo-like structures of NiO with separate interior pores after oxidation at 673 K for 7.2 ks. The formation of the interior pores in Cu2O and Fe3O4 nanotubes and NiO bamboo-like structures can be explained by the rapid outward diffusion of metal ions through the oxide layers and the clustering of excess vacancies.

Positron annihilation age-momentum correlation measurements (AMOC) were performed for room temperature ionic liquids (IL) to investigate positronium (Ps) formation process. The solvation time of free electrons in IL is longer than in usual molecular liquids. And hence IL is very useful materials to investigate fast reactions such as Ps formation. On the other hand, Ps formation is a good tool to investigate the dry electrons. The para-Ps annihilation lifetime is about 125ps and then the effect of dry electrons should be seen on the S(t) parameters made by the age-momentum correlation measurements. The slow Ps formation was observed in the room temperature ionic liquids.

In this paper, in a more pronounced way we are exploring with priority the formation process of terms from Albanian common words in technical terminologies (mechanical, electrical, construction). The influence of the scientific-technical language on the general one will be further strengthened in future, because science and its language are beginning to play an increasingly more important role on the development of culture in general. Under the influence of these factors, the terminology lexicon and the general lexicon are getting every step closer, where, an intellectualized lexicon is serving as the basic interlink which exists in both macro-layers. On the other hand, this problem could be linked in a particular way with the formation in the course of the times, of the technical terminology built on the basis of words of the native language, which are raised to the level of terms for the nomination of specialized concepts of this field. Thus, for example, a range of words can be brought forward, which we come across as early as in Buzuk’s creation "Meshari’’ (“Missal”) (1555), which today are used as terms also, not only directly in today’s technical fields, like: fuqi, forcë, bosht, rrotë, rrotullohet (rrotulluem), (Engl. power, strength, axle, wheel, spinning (spinned) etc. As is evident, on this basis primarily Albanian terminology formations are created, alongside formations originating from foreign languages, as well as those built on the basis of authentic Albanian and of word formative models and types (term formative) thereof: boshtor, i rrotullueshëm (Engl. axial, rotating) etc.
