This paper explores a low-cost portable visible light communication (VLC) system to support the increasing needs of lightweight mobile applications. VLC grows rapidly in the past decade for many applications (e.g., indoor data transmission, human sensing, and visual MIMO) due to its RF interference immunity and inherent high security. However, most existing VLC systems heavily rely on fixed infrastructures with less adaptability to emerging lightweight mobile applications. This work proposes Light Storage, a portable VLC system takes the advantage of commercial smartphone flashlights as the transmitter and a solar panel equipped with both data reception and energy harvesting modules as the receiver. Light Storage can achieve concurrent data transmission and energy harvesting from the visible light signals. It develops multi-level light intensity data modulation to increase data throughput and integrates the noise reduction functionality to allow portability under various lighting conditions. The system supports synchronization together with adaptive error correction to overcome both the linear and non-linear signal offsets caused by the low time-control ability from the commercial smartphones. Finally, the energy harvesting capability in Light Storage provides sufficient energy support for efficient short range communication. Light Storage is validated in both indoor and outdoor environments and can achieve over 98% data decoding accuracy, demonstrating the potential as an important alternative to support low-cost and portable short range communication.

By analyzing the transmitionce and heat rate of insulating antireflection films conposed by refractive-index adjustable SiO2 layer and TiO2 layers, the optimum combination of antireflection films of BIPV is obtained. The absorption rate at the ultraviolet part that wavelenght excessive inadequate 400nm of the optimized fils is 99.9%, which are directly designed on the surface of the low iron tempered glass panel of BIPV, and in the wavelength range 400nm-800nm, the visible light transmitionce rate is up to 99.5%, and the heat that wavelenght excessive 800nm is reflected of 20%. For the multilayer heat insulation films are composed with the same kind of material while with different refractive indexes, there is no projecting stress between these films and no constraints during the production process of different films for the possible low cost heat insulating of BIPV.

The overarching presumption with near-infrared spectroscopy measurement of muscle deoxygenation is that the signal reflects predominantly the intramuscular microcirculatory compartment rather than intramyocyte myoglobin (Mb). To test this hypothesis, we compared the kinetics profile of muscle deoxygenation using visible light spectroscopy (suitable for the superficial fiber layers) with that for microvascular O2 partial pressure (i.e., PmvO2, phosphorescence quenching) within the same muscle region (0.5∼1 mm depth) during transitions from rest to electrically stimulated contractions in the gastrocnemius of male Wistar rats ( n = 14). Both responses could be modeled by a time delay (TD), followed by a close-to-exponential change to the new steady level. However, the TD for the muscle deoxygenation profile was significantly longer compared with that for the phosphorescence-quenching PmvO2 [8.6 ± 1.4 and 2.7 ± 0.6 s (means ± SE) for the deoxygenation and PmvO2, respectively; P < 0.05]. The time constants (τ) of the responses were not different (8.8 ± 4.7 and 11.2 ± 1.8 s for the deoxygenation and PmvO2, respectively). These disparate (TD) responses suggest that the deoxygenation characteristics of Mb extend the TD, thereby increasing the duration (number of contractions) before the onset of muscle deoxygenation. However, this effect was insufficient to increase the mean response time. Somewhat differently, the muscle deoxygenation response measured using near-infrared spectroscopy in the deeper regions (∼5 mm depth) (∼50% type I Mb-rich, highly oxidative fibers) was slower (τ = 42.3 ± 6.6 s; P < 0.05) than the corresponding value for superficial muscle measured using visible light spectroscopy or PmvO2 and can be explained on the basis of known fiber-type differences in PmvO2 kinetics. These data suggest that, within the superficial and also deeper muscle regions, the τ of the deoxygenation signal may represent a useful index of local O2 extraction kinetics during exercise transients.

Strontium Titanate has a typical perovskite structure with advantages of low cost and photochemical stability. However, the wide bandgap and rapid recombination of electrons and holes limited its application in photocatalysis. In this work, a SrTiO3 material with surface oxygen vacancies was synthesized via carbon reduction under a high temperature. It was successfully applied for photocatalytic overall water splitting to produce clean hydrogen energy under visible light irradiation without any sacrificial reagent for the first time. The photocatalytic overall water splitting ability of the as-prepared SrTiO3-C950 is attributed to the surface oxygen vacancies that can make suitable energy levels for visible light response, improving the separation and transfer efficiency of photogenerated carriers.
