The shaft misalignment, even being a common fault in rotating machinery, is not sufficiently studied. The present work addresses effects of misalignment in rotating machinery. An attempt to give a theoretical model for a rotor-coupling-bearing system has been done. The rotor-bearing system including the flexible coupling is modelled using the finite elements. The reaction forces and moments developed due to flexible coupling misalignment both for parallel and angular are derived and introduced in the model. Vibration analyses such as eigen value analysis and unbalance response are carried out for the rotor system with misaligned shafts.

Many damping controller devices based on other techniques have been proposed time to time. For the study of the damping performance, it has been proposed a power systems model with ‘UPFC’ and power oscillation damping controller in the present article. The proposed controller performance has been studied under different simulation condition results and that also includes various loading condition, i.e., normal with 100 percent, under loading 80 percent and overloading with 120 percent at different operational points. Finally, a better result has been observed by using the proposed damping controlling device than earlier available existing devices. However, the result obtained by using Eigen value analysis is supported by the facts obtained by the settling time analysis and the analysis of simulation results

The shifted Chebyshev polynomials and Floquet theory are both adopted for the prediction regenerative chatter stability and Hopf bifurcation in milling. The influences of the system parameter on the stability of the milling system have been analyzed. The stability lobe diagrams are obtained. The result shows that the shifted Chebyshev polynomials method is more accurate than the semi-discretion scheme for spindle speed lower than 3500 round per minutes. The stability in milling can well be predicted by the cutting depth and feed rate lobes diagrams. Only Hopf bifurcations are detected by the Eigen-value analysis. The stable solution transform from the stable equilibrium point to the quasi-periodic oscillation after Hopf bifurcation.

This paper presents an application of impedancebased modelling approach to identify suitable locations for design

and expansion planning of an inverter based autonomous AC microgrid. The objective is to find out ideal location for placement of additional components which can include new inverter-based sources, microgrid damping controller, etc., ensuring sufficient stability margins. These objectives are achieved by first identifying the weakest and the strongest nodes in the system with respect to the system stability and then observing the effects of choosing various nodes for design and expansion on overall system stability. The weakest and the strongest nodes are identified
using the impedance based stability analysis of the microgrid by dividing the system in various possible partition points while the impact of choosing different locations on stability is analyzed by eigen value analysis as well as time-domain MATLAB/Simulink simulations and experimental results.

This paper has been submitted to JESTPE on 25-04-2020 and rejected on 29-08-2020.

In the present paper, singular stress fields at the vertex on the interface in three-dimensional bonded joints are analyzed using BEM. The order of stress singularity is determined solving an eigen equation based on FEM formulation and the stress distribution is expressed using the result of the eigen-value analysis. A simple relationship between the thickness of layer and a value of stress is introduced. Then, stress distributions for various thicknesses of layer are unified using the relationship, and the unified intensity of stress singularity is determined.

A new type of tachometer carbon brush wear detection technology is proposed based on data acquisition and signal processing technology, the key of which is that the tachometer carbon brush output information is acquired and processed, moreover, the real time conditions of the carbon brush wear are detected and analyzed based on the time domain Eigen value analysis method. During the data processing process, the results of the dimensional parameter processing method are compared with the results of the dimensionless parameter processing method at the same time. Then, we find that the detecting precision is greatly promoted and measurement probability is guaranteed by reasonable threshold selection. Experimental results indicate that the technology proposed here has high stability, high reliability, and high detecting probability, which has great practical value and deserves being extended widely.
