Abstract Background Exploring etiological clues to adolescent depression, especially in female adolescents, might be helpful to improve the social environment of female adolescents. The aim at this study is to explore psycho-social factors of female adolescents with high depressive symptomatology and gender differences in depressive symptoms among Chinese adolescents. Method We examined 4100 adolescents from Wuhan city and Jianli county via a cross-sectional study. Depressive symptomatology was screened through the Chinese version of Center for Epidemiology Studies Depression Scale. Multivariate logistic regression was performed to explore the factors related to high depressive symptomatology in female and male adolescents, respectively. Results The prevalence of high depressive symptomatology in female and male were 38.9 and 30.2% respectively. The psycho-social factors of high depressive symptomatology in female adolescents were age (Adjusted odds ratio [aOR] = 1.201, 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.076 ~ 1.341), single parent family (aOR = 2.004, 95%CI, 1.448 ~ 2.772) and fathers’ education level (compared to primary school and below, [Junior middle school, aOR = 0.641, 95%CI, 0.439 ~ 0.934; Senior middle school, aOR = 0.603, 95%CI, 0.410 ~ 0.888; College degree and above, aOR = 0.639, 95%CI, 0.437 ~ 0.936]). Conclusion Fathers’ education level was associated with high depressive symptomatology in female adolescents. Female adolescents whose father with primary school education or below deserves more attention. Further epidemiologic researches need to be conducted to explore the different risk factors between female and male adolescents in China.

Purpose The main concept analysis (MCA; Kong, 2009) quantifies the effectiveness and efficiency of information transfer during verbal discourse by means of four sets of sequential pictorial stimuli. This test was originally developed for a Cantonese-speaking population. The main goals of this study were (a) to translate and adapt the MCA to Dutch; (b) to establish normative data for healthy native Dutch-speaking adults; (c) to assess the effect of age, education level, and gender on MCA outcome; and (d) to establish inter- and intrarater reliability of the Dutch MCA. Method Language samples were collected from 60 healthy native Dutch speakers, equally recruited in different age (20–39 years, 40–59 years, 60–79 years) and education (middle and highly educated) categories through administration of the MCA. Utterances produced by at least 75% of the participants were included as a main concept in the Dutch MCA. Subsequently, age-specific normative data were established for each of the MCA parameters. Finally, an ICC was calculated in order to verify inter- and intrarater reliability of the Dutch MCA. Results The translated MCA consisted of 19 main concepts. Age-specific normative data were obtained. Both age and education level had a significant effect on MCA outcome. Information transfer in elderly was both less effectively and efficiently compared to young- and middle-aged adults. In addition, highly educated participants transferred information less efficiently compared to middle educated participants. Based on inter- and intrarater reliability measures, the Dutch MCA proved to be a reliable measuring instrument. Conclusions The MCA was translated to Dutch, and age-specific normative data were established for a healthy, Dutch-speaking population. The Dutch MCA is a reliable tool for eliciting and quantifying discourse production. Validation of the test for people with aphasia is necessary in order for the test to be useful in a clinical practice.

The article examines the social factors influence on prosodic manifestation of syntactic and macrosyntactic units. The data collected during suprasegmental analysis of spontaneous speech are used, which are directly related to the syntactic level, namely: the average length of a phrase in words and in syntagmas and the average length of a syntagma in phonetic words, as well as parameters associated with the design of the whole text: the number of composition blocks in the text, their length in phrases, the length of the whole text in phrases and words. The results of statistical modeling of the influence of the factors "age", "type of education", "level of education" and "gender" clearly indicate that the factors "type of education" and "gender" significantly influence the variation of syntactic and macrosyntactic parameters of an oral text. The factor "type of education" significantly affects the number of phrases in the text and the length of the text block in phrases – both parameters are significantly higher for the speakers who specialize in Humanities compared to those who specialize in Sciences. The length of the syntagma depends on the speaker’ gender – syntagmas produced by male speakers are longer.

Abstract Background: To assess the awareness regarding sports rehabilitation among residents of Taiyuan. Method: From September 27, 2018 to March 29, 2019, 1200 residents who met the inclusion/ criteria were selected using convenient sampling method. The population was surveyed by self-designed questionnaires, and single factor and two-category logistic regression analysis (stepwise forward method) was used to identify the factors influencing awareness of mass sports rehabilitation in Taiyuan. Results: A total of 1200 questionnaires were issued, of which 1167 were collected and 1101 were valid. The corresponding recovery and effective recovery rates were 97.25% and 94.34% respectively. The overall rate of awareness of exercise rehabilitation was 80.7%, and education level, occupation, income and health status were significant influencing factors (R<0.05). The results of two-class logistic regression analysis showed that age, occupation, education level, income level and health status were the influencing factors affecting the public's perception of the sports rehabilitation concept (R<0.05), whereas gender, occupation, education level and health status influenced understanding of the establishment of the rehabilitation department in Taiyuan (R<0.05), and gender, age, education level and health status affected understanding of the types of patients receiving rehabilitation (R<0.05). Conclusion: There is a high general awareness regarding sports rehabilitation, and is influenced by various socio-economic factors.

By means of on-site and network investigation, we collected data relevant to residents of communities, point of interest (POI) data, and land-use data of Fuzhou. We set traffic walking time and leisure walking time as an independent variable, built environment as dependent variable, and gender, age, education level and income level as control variables. Six linear regression models were established using Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS). The results showed that in the 5D (i.e., Density, Diversity, Design, Destination and Distance) elements of the built environment, the density was negatively correlated with the traffic walking time, whereas other elements were positively correlated with the walking time, but the degree of influence was different.

ABSTRACTThis study was aimed at providing normative data for the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE). The norms were built from a sample (n = 2409) of community-dwelling French speaking residents from Québec aged 65 and older. The analyses indicated that socio-demographic variables such as education level, age, and gender of individuals influenced significantly the scores of older adults on the MMSE. More precisely, MMSE scores increased with education level and decreased with age. Moreover, women had significantly higher scores than men. On this basis, distinct tables of normative data were produced for women and men. In each table, the MMSE scores corresponding to percentiles 5, 10, 15 and 50 were identified according to four age categories and three education levels. Overall, the use of the present normative data by clinicians will improve their accuracy in detecting cognitive impairment in older adults from Québec.

Caring for People with Dementia (PwD) has various negative effects that are detrimental to caregivers. The existence of Positive Aspects of Caregiving (PAC) makes the experience of caring for PwD more positive, valuable and protects caregivers from various negative impacts while caring for PwD. This study aims to explain the factors associated with PAC. These literature reviews were accessed from six databases (Scopus, CINAHL, Science Direct, ProQuest, PubMed, and SAGE Journal), with the keywords factor, positive aspects of caregiving, Dementia/ Alzheimer’s, during January 2021, limited to 2016-2020, and in English. A total of 318 journals were selected using PRISMA, then leaving 16 journals to be analyzed using The Joanna Briggs Institution Checklist. Sixteen journals were analyzed and divided into two themes, factors that affect PAC (n = 9) and factors affected by PAC (n = 7). Factors that affect PAC are caregiver characteristics, care-recipient characteristics, and social support. Factors affected by PAC are caregiving outcomes. Factors that increase PAC are lower education level, good social support, severe BPSD, shorter duration of care, and relationship with care-recipient (except spouse), and gender (male). The mediating factors that increase PAC are unmet needs and reciprocal filial piety. Factors that lower PAC are higher education level, the use of avoidance coping, and older age. We found inconsistencies in caregiver marital status and relationship with care-recipient because the finding still uncertain.

Abstract Background: Brazil has one of the greatest diversity of species of herpetofauna in the world. Associated with this diversity of species, rural communities in Brazil have developed a vast knowledge about these animals. Methods: The present research aimed to characterize the knowledge and influence of the socioeconomic variables of the population in the interaction between humans and herpetofauna of the rural area of the municipality of Alagoinhas. The free list method and semistructured questionnaire was used to list the species of the herpetofauna known by the informants. Results: A total amount of 39 species of amphibians and reptiles was cited by the informants. These interact with residents in the categories of food use, magical-religious purposes, medicine, pets and in conflicting relationships. Conclusion: Regarding the results of socioeconomic variables influencing knowledge, time of residence, gender, the location of the community, education level, explained the knowledge associated with the reptiles. For amphibians, time of residence and gender explained the knowledge associated.

This study investigates the impact of education level, teaching experience and gender on professionalism and performance of academic teaching staffs at the University of Muhammadiyah Palembang. In 2017, there are 431 academic teaching staffs across seven faculties and one graduate study program as the population study and the sample size is 355 respondents. This study uses survey research method to collect the data using closed-ended questionnairre. Professionalism is measured using the sertification status and the performance is measured using the number of publication during the last three years. Education level is measured using the degree qualification such as master degree, doctoral degree and professorship. Teaching experience is measured using the length of teaching experience and the gender is measured as sex status such as male and female academic teaching staffs. The data is analysed using ordinary least square (OLS). The result shows that there is a significant impact of education level, teaching experience and gender on professionalism and performance of academic teaching staffs.
