AbstractDespite the economic benefits of organic farming, the conversion rates to this production method are low. The reasons for this reluctance are largely unknown; however, understanding this behavior is important for policy recommendations. Therefore, we experimentally investigate and compare the investment behavior of organic and conventional hog farmers. We examine whether the investment behavior depends on the organic or conventional farmers’ status quo of their production method. Our results show that farmers are more reluctant to invest in production methods they are not currently using compared with those already in use on their farm. Conventional, more risk-averse farmers, and those farmers holding a university degree, invest later in a hog barn. The results provide evidence that investment decisions depend on the status quo production method of a farmer and, thus, reveal that current subsidy structures may be ineffective in encouraging farmers to invest in production methods they are not currently using on their farms.

Analyzing the typical management pattern of agricultural produce logistics, this paper discovered that the dominant of the pattern and got more profit because of the information fully. In view of this status quo, the agricultural products logistics management pattern based on information center was built. The advantages of the pattern were explained. The pattern was demonstrated by the orange logistics management pattern based on information share, the result showed that the pattern is effective and practicable.

Abstract In India, Punjab is a state which grows large proportion of countries agricultural products and the dependence of cultivatable land, for irrigation, is highly shifting towards the use of surface water. Currently, there are three major fresh water rivers that flow through Punjab i.e., Ravi, Beas and Satluj. Since, India’s independence and its partition, several reforms have taken place with respect to the modifications in the flow of these rivers. As several activities of the state such as, industrial, domestic, geo-political etc., are dependent on the availability of the fresh water, therefore, it is imperative to provide the status-quo of the changes in the rivers of Punjab. This article brings forward, the present condition of the three rivers of Punjab with respect to the development of canals, construction of headworks, dams etc. It is expected that this article will provide an insight of the complete fresh water distribution in the state Punjab, India, to the various stakeholders of associated fields.

Perfect deterrence theory and classical deterrence theory are two theoretical frameworks that have divergent empirical implications and dissimilar policy recommendations. In perfect deterrence theory, threat credibility plays a central role in the operation of both direct and extended deterrence relationships. But credible threats are neither necessary nor sufficient for deterrence to prevail, and under certain conditions, the presence of a credible threat may actually undermine deterrence. In perfect deterrence theory, the cost of conflict and status quo evaluations are also important strategic variables. Classical deterrence theorists tend to fixate on the former and ignore the latter. This theoretical oversight precludes a nuanced understanding of the dynamics of deterrence.

Abstract This paper presents a new water market mechanism, which can be used for selecting the best trading policy by incorporating the uncertainties of total annual available water and wholesale price of agricultural products. In this mechanism, water users are asked to submit bid packages via a web-based platform. A bid package represents the real values that a user puts on different quantities of withdrawn groundwater considering its quality. Then, the most reliable water trading policy as well as the price of water are calculated by taking the market endogenous and exogenous uncertainties into account using the regret theory. The results show that by applying the proposed uncertainty-based smart groundwater market mechanisms to the Nough Plain in Iran, the average productivity of water users increases about 18% compared to the status quo condition. Furthermore, based on the outputs of the proposed market model, groundwater is finally distributed to agricultural users almost proportional to their farms area.

The article uses the theories of industrial cluster and supply chain management and researches into the industrial cluster situation and development prospects of Qiqihar Citys agricultural products. At present, although Qiqihars agricultural products industrial cluster has initially formed, the business flow, capital flow, information flow and logistics integration of agricultural products supply chain have yet to be further optimized. Based on the development status quo of Qiqihar, the article proposes the principle of designing Qiqihars agricultural products supply chain, and studies the operation mechanism of supply chain systems, aimed at providing a reference mode for Qiqihars development of agricultural industry and promoting the development of agricultural products industrial cluster.
