An understanding of the scientific layout of surface water space is crucial for the sustainable development of human society and the ecological environment. The objective of this study was to use land-use/land-cover data to identify the spatiotemporal dynamic change processes and the influencing factors over the past three decades in Henan Province, central China. Multidisciplinary theories (landscape ecology and graph theory) and methods (GIS spatial analysis and SPSS correlation analysis) were used to quantify the dynamic changes in surface water pattern and connectivity. Our results revealed that the water area decreased significantly during the periods of 1990–2000 and 2010–2018 due to a decrease in tidal flats and linear waters, but increased significantly in 2000–2010 due to an increase in patchy waters. Human construction activities, socioeconomic development and topography were the key factors driving the dynamics of water pattern and connectivity. The use of graph metrics (node degree, betweenness centrality, and delta probability of connectivity) in combination with landscape metrics (Euclidean nearest-neighbor distance) can help establish the parameters of threshold distance between connected habitats, identify hubs and stepping stones, and determine the relatively important water patches that require priority protection or development.

Abstract Background : To analyze the incidence characteristics of 1624 inpatients with soft tissue sarcoma (STS) during 2006 to 2016 in Henan Province Cancer Hospital in Central China. Methods : The information of electronic medical record from the first hospitalized patients with STS in Henan Province Cancer Hospital during January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2016 was collected, and descriptive statistics was analyzed on age, gender, pathological type and tumor location by using SPSS21.0 software. Results : There were 1624 inpatients with STS in Henan Province Cancer Hospital in 2006~2016.The top nine pathological subtypes of STS with high constituent ratio were undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (UPS,23.83%),synovial sarcoma(16.69%), liposarcoma(13.67%), fibrosarcoma(10.22%), sarcoma without definite type (8.99%), leiomyosarcoma(7.02%), dermatofibrosarcoma protuberant (5.79%),rhabdomyosarcoma (4.68%) and malignant neurilemmoma(4.25%). The average age of inpatients was 44.71±17.91, and the inpatients aged 35-64 accounted for 56.34%.The number of UPS inpatients reached the peak at the age of 45 to 59; The median age of inpatients with rhabdomyosarcoma was 17 year.In total 1624 inpatients of STS, the number of male and female inpatients were 923 and 701, respectively. The gender ratio was 1.32:1. The proportion of UPS in either male or female inpatients was the highest, accounting for 23.07% and 24.82%, respectively. The number of male inpatients was more than that of female in the top nine pathological subtypes of STS except leiomyosarcoma (the gender ratio was 0.84:1). The most common initiation location of UPS, synovial sarcoma, liposarcoma was lower extremity, accounting for 51.16%, 53.13% and 52.25% in corresponding pathological type group, respectively. Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberant, rhabdomyosarcoma and fibrosarcoma were all mainly initiated in trunk, accounting for 72.34%, 47.83% and 45.57% , respectively. Leiomyosarcoma tend to occur in retroperitoneum. Conclusion : The top three pathological subtypes of STS with high constituent ratio were UPS, synovial sarcoma and liposarcoma.UPS should be paid more attention on the prevention, treatment and research in Henan province in future for its highest proportion of STS.

Toxocariasis is a zoonotic disease that poses a threat to public health worldwide. In the present study, we investigated the seroprevalence of Toxocara infection among primary school children in Henan province, central China, which was previously unknown. Sera from 2451 primary school children were collected from September 2015 to October 2018, and evaluated for anti-Toxocara antibodies by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The overall seroprevalence of Toxocara infection was 5.14% (126/2451). The main risk factors related to Toxocara infection identified in this study were the age of children, residence area of children, contact with cats or dogs, and exposure to soil. Hand washing before eating was considered to be a protective factor. These findings demonstrate that Toxocara infection is relatively common among primary school children in Henan province.

Coordinating the “green” and “gray” infrastructure construction and the socioeconomic development is essential to sponge city construction. Most previous research has investigated the structural and non-structural approach for urban water management, such as operational practice, engineered measures, technical solutions, or planning management. However, there is a shortage of strategic management approaches to identify pilot sponge cities, which is essential to cities in developing countries under huge financial pressures. Hence, this paper proposed a coupling coordination evaluation index system to assess the coordination degree between economic development and infrastructure construction in Henan Province in central China. Then, the paper analyzed the differences of the coordination level and its spatial statistical pattern of the coupled and coordinated development of sponge city construction in Henan Province. The results show that: (1) from the perspective of comprehensive level, the problems of inadequate and unbalanced development of infrastructure construction and economic development level are prominent; (2) from the perspective of coordinated development level, the level of coupling and coordination development in Henan Province increased during the sample period, but the level of coupling and coordination development in each region was small; (3) from the perspective of relative development, Zhengzhou City is lagging behind in infrastructure, indicating that economic growth is faster than infrastructure construction, and other regions are lagging economic development, indicating that infrastructure construction is faster than economic growth; and (4) from the spatial statistical analysis, there is spatial positive correlation, that is, the area with high coupling degree of infrastructure construction and economic development level tends to be significantly concentrated in space. Studies have shown that Henan Province should focus on strengthening the construction of “green” infrastructure and increasing the infiltration of the underlying surface to counter the precipitation in urban areas in extreme climates.

Abstract Background Cardiovascular disease including ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is increasing and the leading cause of death in China. There has been limited data available to characterize STEMI management and outcomes in rural areas of China. The Henan STEMI Registry is a regional STEMI project with the objectives to timely obtain real-world knowledge about STEMI patients in secondary and tertiary hospitals and to provide a platform for care quality improvement efforts in predominantly rural central China. Methods The Henan STEMI Registry is a multicentre, prospective and observational study for STEMI patients. The registry includes 66 participating hospitals (50 secondary hospitals; 16 tertiary hospitals) that cover 15 prefectures and one city direct-controlled by the province in Henan province. Patients were consecutively enrolled with a primary diagnosis of STEMI within 30 days of symptom onset. Clinical treatments, outcomes and cost are collected by local investigators and captured electronically, with a standardized set of variables and standard definitions, and rigorous data quality control. Post-discharge patient follow-up to 1 year is planned. As of August 2018, the Henan STEMI Registry has enrolled 5479 patients of STEMI. Discussion The Henan STEMI Registry represents the largest Chinese regional platform for clinical research and care quality improvement for STEMI. The board inclusion of secondary hospitals in Henan province will allow for the exploration of STEMI in predominantly rural central China. Trial registration [NCT02641262] [29 December, 2015].
