Aeroelastic Vehicle Sensor Placement for Feedback Control Applications Using Gain Stability

Abstract Optimal positions for aeroelastic vehicle feedback sensors, which meet design constraints and control requirements, are difficult to determine. This paper introduces a systematic and optimal approach for choosing sensor locations based on gain stability criteria. A steepest descent optimization method with constraints is used to minimize such objective criteria, which are based on the dipole magnitudes for each aeroelastic mode appearing in a traditional Evans diagram for a scalar control loop. Each dipole magnitude term is multiplied by a weight parameter. Rigid-body augmentation characteristics are implicitly accounted for in the type of input-output pairs utilized and in predefined loop compensation structure. Constraints enforcing minimum phase zeros in the transfer function are also considered. A flexible aircraft structure is used as an example to demonstrate this procedure. Results indicate flight control and structural mode control characteristics can be effectively balanced.

In recent years, with the continuous development of drone technology, UAVs are used as unmanned and flightable devices, UAV plays an important role in remote sensing and GIS disciplines. During the flight, no one directly participates in flight-related decisions such as flight routes, path planning, and flight control. In this case, it is necessary to use the computing power of the onboard computer of the UAV system, the computing power of the ground station computer, and related technologies such as detecting sensing, image vision, real-time wireless communication, etc., to develop target planning, decision-making and control algorithms for specific problems, and to solve the problem. Flight planning and flight control issues in machine applications. The UAV route optimization method based on the double target of confidence and ambiguity has positive significance for route optimization and wide application of UAV. In this context, this paper aims to analyze and study the UAV route optimization method based on the two goals of confidence and ambiguity, and optimized the method of drone route. The calculation results show that, compared with other methods, this method can make the UAV not rely on human control, but realize the use of fuzzy control method to identify the target and track the moving target.

Optimization of smart products requires optimizing both the artifact design and its controller. The presence of coupling between the design and control problems is an important consideration in choosing the system optimization method. Several measures of coupling have been proposed based on different viewpoints of the system. In this paper, two measures of coupling, a vector based on optimality conditions and a matrix derived from an extension of the global sensitivity equations, are shown to be related under certain conditions and to be consistent in their coupling determination. The measures’ physical interpretation and relative ease of use are discussed using the example of a positioning gantry. A further relation is derived between one measure and a modified sequential formulation that would give results sufficiently close to the true solutions.

Проведен краткий анализ как отечественных, так и зарубежных систем межсамолетной навигации. В ходе анализа были отражены недостатки систем межсамолетной навигации и представлен актуальный подход повышения точности системы навигации за счет применения системы технического зрения. Для определения местоположения ведущего самолета предлагается рассмотреть в качестве измерительного комплекса систему технического зрения, которая способна решать большой круг задач на различных этапах, в частности, и полет строем. Систему технического зрения предлагается установить на ведомом самолете с целью измерения всех параметров, необходимых для формирования автоматического управления полетом летательного аппарата. Обработка изображений ведущего самолета выполняется с целью определения координат трех идентичных точек на фоточувствительных матрицах. Причем в качестве этих точек выбираются оптически контрастные элементы конструкции летательного аппарата, например окончания крыла, хвостового оперения и т.д. Для упрощения процедуры обработки изображений возможно использование полупроводниковых источников света в инфракрасном диапазоне (например, с длиной волны λ = 1,54 мкм), что позволяет работать даже в сложных метеоусловиях. Такой подход может быть использован при автоматизации полета строем более чем двух летательных аппаратов, при этом необходимо только оборудовать системой технического зрения все ведомые самолеты группы The article provides a brief analysis of both domestic and foreign inter-aircraft navigation systems. In the course of the analysis, we found the shortcomings of inter-aircraft navigation systems and presented an up-to-date approach to improving the accuracy of the navigation system through the use of a technical vision system. To determine the location of the leading aircraft, we proposed to consider a technical vision system as a measuring complex, which is able to solve a large range of tasks at various stages, in particular, flight in formation. We proposed to install the technical vision system on the slave aircraft in order to measure all the parameters necessary for the formation of automatic flight control of the aircraft. We performed an image processing of the leading aircraft to determine the coordinates of three identical points on photosensitive matrices. Moreover, we selected optically contrasting elements of the aircraft structure as these points, for example, the end of the wing, tail, etc. To simplify the image processing procedure, it is possible to use semiconductor light sources in the infrared range (for example, with a wavelength of λ = 1.54 microns), which allows us to work even in difficult weather conditions. This approach can be used when automating a flight in formation of more than two aircraft, while it is only necessary to equip all the guided aircraft of the group with a technical vision system

The article is devoted to the adaptation of the controller parameters during its operation as a part of a control loop. The possibility to identify the parameters of the controlled plant model in the closed control loop has been proved by a computer simulation. The described active identification method is based on the response processing of the closed loop control system to standard actions. The developed algorithm has been applied to determine the model parameters of the flaming fluorination reactor used for the production of uranium hexafluoride. Designed identification method improves the quality of the product and the efficiency of the entire production.

AbstractClosed-loop control of the substrate feed as well as the application of online instrumentation are important to achieve optimal biogas plant operation. Therefore, this paper presents two novel approaches for online instrumentation and control to achieve optimal AD plant operation based on middle-infrared spectroscopy on the one hand and nonlinear model predictive control on the other hand. At present, research into both techniques is being performed separately, with the intention that in the future the spectroscopic measurements will be integrated into the control loop.

High-efficiency taxiing for safe operations is needed by all types of aircraft in busy airports to reduce congestion and lessen fuel consumption and carbon emissions. This task is a challenge in the operation and control of the airport’s surface. Previous studies on the optimization of aircraft taxiing on airport surfaces have rarely integrated waiting constraints on the taxiway into the multi-objective optimization of taxiing time and fuel emissions. Such studies also rarely combine changes to the airport’s environment (such as airport elevation, field pressure, temperature, etc.) with the multi-objective optimization of aircraft surface taxiing. In this study, a multi-objective optimization method for aircraft taxiing on an airport surface based on the airport’s environment and traffic conflicts is proposed. This study aims to achieve a Pareto optimized taxiing scheme in terms of taxiing time, fuel consumption, and pollutant emissions. This research has the following contents: (1) Previous calculations of aircraft taxiing pathways on the airport’s surface have been based on unimpeded aircraft taxiing. Waiting on the taxiway is excluded from the multi-objective optimization of taxiing time and fuel emissions. In this study, the waiting points were selected, and the speed curve was optimized. A multi-objective optimization scheme under aircraft taxiing obstacles was thus established. (2) On this basis, the fuel flow of different aircraft engines was modified with consideration to the aforementioned environmental airport differences, and a multi-objective optimization scheme for aircraft taxiing under different operating environments was also established. (3) A multi-objective optimization of the taxiing time and fuel consumption of different aircraft types was realized by acquiring their parameters and fuel consumption indexes. A case study based on the Shanghai Pudong International Airport was also performed in the present study. The taxiway from the 35R runway to the 551# stand in the Shanghai Pudong International Airport was optimized by the non-dominant sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II). The taxiing time, fuel consumption, and pollutant emissions at this airport were compared with those of the Kunming Changshui International Airport and Lhasa Gonggar International Airport, which have different airport environments. Our research conclusions will provide the operations and control departments of airports a reference to determine optimal taxiing schemes.
