This survey assessed the perceptions of students in the spring semester, 1984, about characteristics of and courses in the University of North Carolina’s Physical Education Activities Program and obtained their suggestions for changes in the program. Frequency data and percentages were reported for each response on the 64-item questionnaire along with analysis of the data by year in college and gender. The majority of students were generally to extremely satisfied with the overall program, evaluated the quality of instruction as above average or excellent, preferred 1-hour classes twice a week for one semester in the same activity, liked having a letter or pass/fail grading option, and supported the university’s two-course and swim-test requirements. Individual sports and fitness courses were the preferred offerings. Responses were consistent across years in college and gender.

This study surveyed 2559 students enrolled in the physical education program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to determine which physical education objectives students considered to be most and least important and to assess if there were any differences based on gender and class in the responses. Descriptive statistics revealed that having fun, getting regular exercise, and keeping in good health and physical condition were most important. Providing vocational preparation, learning about human kinetics and exercise science, developing emotional stability, and developing self-realization were rated least important. Results of a principal component factor analysis with varimax rotation revealed that the 24 participation motives loaded on four factors: (a) self-worth, (b) physiological parameters, (c) social affiliation, and (d) lifetime use. ANOVAs on each factor revealed significant effects for class and gender on all the factors except the lifetime use factor. These findings extend those of Soudan and Everett (1981) and provide important information relative to class and gender as mediators of participation motives of students involved in a physical education activity program.

The goal of this study is a comparative analysis of the possibilities of physical education for children with health problems and the current status in boys and girls. Understanding the concept of impaired health is a precondition for the realization of the training process and possible integration in the process of physical education, according to the structure of health disadvantages. Quality of life assessment is performed on three levels. The first level are items that are given in the form of a statement. On the second level, item-like particles are observed in the sub-segments (scales that cover different dimensions of health and quality of life). The raw scores of each scale are transformed into standardized ones with a possible value of 1-4, which facilitates the interpretation of the results. The third level represents total physical and psycho-social health. Up to this level, there are certain mathematical procedures, based on the individual scale scores. Comparative analyses in regard of the cultural and gender specificities are provided, based on MANOVA and DISCRA analyses, within the introductory part, and 11 scales of the Questionnaire. Analysis of the data point out major differences in the possibility of physical activity application in children with medical conditions, with a special overview of boys and girls from diverse cultural and social backgrounds, in Serbia and the Northern Aegean region of Greece.

This study tested the hypothesis that the reason a person engages in a physical education activity (instrumentality) has an effect on his or her state goal orientation, time spent practicing, task enjoyment, motivation, effort, and ultimately on his/her performance. Participants, 695 college students (340 M, 355 F; mean age 19.7 years, range = 18–22) who were enrolled in physical education classes, learned a dribble-shooting basketball task. Before practicing it for 20 minutes, they received one of the three instructions underlining the personal and/or future relevance of the task. Instructions emphasizing the obligatory nature of the task led to a decrease in motivated behavior, performance, and state task orientation, but an increase in the state ego orientation. Instructions emphasizing the personal and future relevance enhanced state task orientation, motivated behavior, and performance. Instructions that only emphasized personal relevance fell in between. The results of this study showed that instructions are powerful tools that can easily affect the quality of motivation and either strengthen or undermine students’ motivational behavior, performance, and future participation, at least when students have little or no experience with the task.

Purpose: The aim of our research was to analyze the interest of students of Masaryk Uni-versity (MU) in sports courses in mandatory physical education. The partial goals was sat-isfaction with the offer of subjects and the obligation to attend physical education within uni-versity studies. The University Sport Center (USC) of the Faculty of Sports Studies provides mandatory physical education at MU. Students are required to have two credits in physical education (PE) within their bachelor’s degree and long master’s degree. They can choose both a semester lesson or in a form of block lessons that take place on Friday or weekend, as well as multi-day summer or winter training courses. Methods: We created a survey for our research. The subject of the questions was to find out if the students were familiar with the offer of USC-organized sports courses and, if not, what is the cause of this ignorance or nescience. We also looked at their preferences for sports courses, what activities they would prefer on the course. We were also interested in student satisfaction with the offer of PE courses and with the obligation to attend these courses. The results were processed by descriptive statistics and data analysis. Results: Atotal of 1608 students from all MU faculties answered our survey. The survey was conducted in the spring semester of 2019 in semester teaching, both in mandatory and in paid form. We found that 67% of students do not know the offer of summer and winter training courses. The biggest problem why they don’t know the offer is the lack of interest in these activities. Among the activities that are interesting for them and would like to run them on summer courses are water sports, especially river rides, hiking, sightseeing, mountain hikes, cycling and rock climbing activities. Furthermore, we found that 95% of students are satisfied with the offer of PE courses. 91% of students see positively the obligation to attend PE at universities, 44% of them would like PE for 3 semesters or more. Conclusion: Physical activity plays an important role in student life. For a young person who wants to be a university educated expert, movement, health, and vitality have an irreplacea-ble function. From the results of our investigation we can conclude that students are aware of the influence of active sports in their lives, agree with the organization of PE within their uni-versity studies and want to actively participate in physical education. Exceptions are sports courses, which they are not interested in, or have no idea that they exist. Based on the re-sults, we will look for ways to promote both summer and winter courses, so that students can be informed about the offer (cooperation with MU faculties and rectorate) and then we will find ways to make the courses more attractive for students.

Abstract. The initial training of Physical Education teachers has "undergone" deep changes along with educational reforms. What should remain equally relevant is that students, as future specialist teachers in this area, should be the ones who value the quality of their education. In this research, we use the tool validated by Moreno and Conte (2001), the Assessment and Training on Teaching in Physical Education (V.A.C.D.E.F.), which we applied to 39 Primary Education degree students who attend the program in Physical Education at a Center of the University of Cádiz. Among the most important findings, we emphasize that the majority of students feel well trained for carrying out the future teaching work. They agree with the contents that are imparted in their program, they are interested in the technical elements of sports and the specialty itself, as well as they strive for more practical classes within their training.

The reported increase in university students with mental health issues has resulted in the recommendation of recreational activity. Therefore, this paper provides overviews of previous studies and literature evidencing physical activities that have been effective in reducing stress levels regardless of age and gender. Fishing is the advocated activity as therapy for pre-identified students with mental health issues that have impeded their quality of life. By ensuring that there are proper, early interventions for the students, it is hoped that they will be able to handle their issues and lead a quality of life that befits the university graduate. Keywords: mental wellness; fishing; therapy; quality of lifeeISSN: 2398-4287 © 2020. Currently, the social well-being of Russian citizens, the quality of life of its residents, are the subject of numerous sociological studies. The results obtained provide the opportunity to make adjustments to the state policy in the social sphere. Studies that identify key social problems of the young generation of Russians are especially important. One of the most acute problems is the quality of education. Educational institutions realize the importance of this issue. They carry out numerous surveys, questionnaires and focus groups among students and educators, and seek the opinion of the expert community. Of course, such studies provide an overview of the key issues, but they are mainly based on traditional methods that are well known to both educators and students. As a result, participants are not always ready to provide objective information, which ultimately affects the quality of research. This situation requires the use of modern research methods both in the field of sociology and in the field of marketing. The purpose of the study: to identify determining factors for the lack of satisfaction of students with physical education at the university. This will increase motivation for attendance of physical education classes at the university. Methods and organization of research: We used the focus group [1] method with elements of the metamorphic method to obtain reliable information about the attitude of students to the "Physical culture" course. The study consisted of two stages. At the first stage, participants visually displayed their attitude to the "Physical culture" course. At the second stage, respondents were asked additional questions. Results. The main factors that contribute to willingness to attend the "Physical culture" course are: the ability to choose the type of activity during classes and characteristics of the educator. At the same time, we revealed the factors that repel from attending the "Physical culture" course. This is an infrastructure and not appropriate time for physical education according to students’ opinion. Conclusion. The research revealed the attitude of students to the "Physical culture" course. It helped to understand how to enhance willingness to attend these classes.
