ABSTRACT Salmonella enterica serotype Enteritidis is a foodborne pathogen of global concern, because it is frequently isolated from foods and patients. Draft genome sequences are reported here for 64 S. Enteritidis strains isolated from the intestines and spleens of mice caught live on chicken farms in the U.S. Northeast. The availability of these genomes provides baseline information on the genomic diversity of S. Enteritidis during the 1990s, when foodborne outbreaks traced to internal contamination of eggs were prevalent.

ABSTRACT Salmonellosis is a disease with a high incidence worldwide, and Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhimurium is one of the most clinically important serovars. We report here the draft genome sequences of 20 S. Typhimurium strains isolated from swine in Santa Catarina, Brazil. These draft genomes will improve our understanding of S. Typhimurium in Brazil.

Here, we report the draft genome sequences of 16 nontyphoidal Salmonella enterica isolates obtained from locally produced meats in Tamale, Ghana, which are commonly consumed by most natives as an important protein source. The draft genomes will help provide a molecular snapshot of Salmonella enterica isolates found in these retail meats in Tamale.

Campylobacter jejuni is a major foodborne pathogen that plays an important role in spreading drug resistance. We report the draft genome sequences of two multidrug-resistant C. jejuni isolates which contained similar mutations in the CmeR box. This will improve the understanding of C. jejuni antimicrobial resistance and genetic characteristics.

Salmonella enterica serovar Dublin, which can cause enteritis and systemic infections in humans, has been associated with antimicrobial resistance. Here, we report draft genome sequences of seven multidrug-resistant S. Dublin isolates from human samples. These sequences will contribute to an understanding of pathogenesis and resistance determinants in this serovar.

This report describes the genome sequences of four Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Gallinarum (Salmonella Gallinarum) strains isolated in Colombia in 2017 from layer breeders of different ages. The layer breeder flocks were presenting with an elevated mortality with lesions typical of fowl typhoid (FT).

ABSTRACT Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium strains 22495 and 22792, obtained from wild birds, were found to display different virulence attributes in an experimental chicken model. Closed genome sequences were assembled after sequencing with the Roche 454 and Illumina MiSeq platforms. An additional plasmid was present in the more virulent strain 22495.

ABSTRACT We report here the draft genome sequences of 15 ciprofloxacin-resistant Salmonella enterica strains with resistance to multiple other antibiotics, including aminoglycosides, β-lactams, sulfonamides, tetracycline, and trimethoprim, isolated from different imported foods. Three strains (NCTR75, NCTR281, and NCTR350) showed a high level of ciprofloxacin resistance compared to that of the other isolates. The whole-genome sequencing data provide a better understanding of the antibiotic resistance mechanisms and virulence properties of these isolates.

Monophasic Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhimurium is one of the most common zoonotic pathogens. Salmonella species reside in a wide variety of hosts, including wild animals. Thus, we report here the genome sequences of 12 monophasic S. Typhimurium strains isolated from healthy wild vultures to gain better insight into their epidemiology and host-pathogen interactions.
