This study is focused on the fatigue properties of automobile high-strength bolts, including the effect of mean stress level, pre-processing schedule and the residual stresses. And the mean stress levels are 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7 times to the tensile strength (σ B ) of the material respectively. The main results obtained are as follows: 1) the fatigue strength increases under the mean stress loading, but the differences between the loading levels are not so evident; 2) most of the cases in this study are broken from the bottom of the screw thread, and the crack initiated from the impurities.

Self-disclosure therapy is stress therapy through self-disclosure, which is the activity of sharing familiar feelings with others through telling stories, communicating deeply, and allowing themselves to be known by others. The ability to express oneself, such as feelings and thoughts, to others is recognized as important. This study aims to determine the effect of self-disclosure therapy on adolescents who experience stress on reducing stress levels. This study used a quasi experimental design. The sample in this study were teenagers, amounting to 29 respondents. In this study, respondents were given a pre-test before being given self-disclosure therapy. Then the respondent is given self-disclosure therapy. After being given therapy, the respondent is given a post test, then the stress level is measured. The results showed that there was an effect of self disclosure on adolescents who experienced stress. This can be seen from the mean stress level before self-disclosure therapy, the mean stress level (24.31) and after the self-disclosure therapy, the mean stress level (16.34). The results of statistical tests using the Man-Wilney test showed that the P value = 0.000, which means that there is a significant effect of providing self-disclosure therapy on reducing stress levels in adolescents who experience stress. It is hoped that self-disclosure therapy can be used as an alternative therapy to reduce stress levels in adolescents. Keywords: Self Disclousure; Stress; Adolescencts

This paper deals with the mean stress effect on the fatigue life of welded joints in FPSOs. Mean stresses in structural details of FPSOs are composed of residual stresses and mean stresses induced by external service loading conditions. Mean stresses, both the residual stresses and those induced by external load, affect on the fatigue life of structural details. Fatigue strength decreases as tensile mean stress increases. Under compressive mean stresses, fatigue lives are increased. Different fatigue analysis procedures to account for mean stress effect, i.e. JBP, JTP, DNV CN30.7 and IIW procedure, are used to compare the fatigue test data of different specimens representing different typical welded connections in ship-shaped structures from HHI in Korea. In this paper these procedures are compared and an improved procedure explicitly considering of the mean stress effect is also proposed. The fatigue strength of welded joints of FPSO is affected by the initial condition as well as possible redistribution (shake-down) of the residual stresses. The initial condition of welding residual stress and its re-distribution by static preload and cyclic load in the small scale specimens are evaluated with FE analyses and analytical equations, also compared with the test results obtained from measurement based on ordinary sectioning method.

Based on the FEM code ABAQUS and MSC.Fatigue, the process of LSP before hole-drilling was adopted to study the residual stress field of aluminum alloy7050T7451 with Fastener Holes after Laser shock processing (LSP), and the fatigue life of the specimens by LSP was analyzed in this paper. The results indicate that multiple laser shock processing can improve the residual compressive stress and fatigue life to a certain degree, and with the increasing number of shot, the strengthening effect gradually decreases. The ratio of the fatigue life of specimens treated by LSP to the fatigue life of untreated specimens is gradually decreased as the mean stress σm increases, and when the σm is 67.3MPa, the fatigue life of specimens treated by LSP advances 719%, compared with that of untreated specimens.

Using results obtained in work on fatigue crack propagation in unwelded sheet specimens, an analysis has been made of fatigue test results for specimens with longitudinal non-load-carrying fillet welds tested in the as-welded and stress relieved conditions and also after treatment by local compression and by spot heating. It is shown that, by this means, it is possible to provide a quantitative explanation of the effect of residual stresses and applied stress ratio on fatigue strength, since all the results can be normalized on the basis of an effective stress range. In the course of the work it has been shown that the gross stress concentration factor for this type of joint is approximately 2·57. It has also again been demonstrated that the beneficial effect of spot heating on fatigue strength is a direct result of induced compressive residual stresses.

The fatigue properties of ferritic-pearlitic-bainitic steel using specimens produced from massive forging were measured in stress controlled regime with positive mean stress. The cyclic creep curves and cyclic hardening/softening curves were evaluated. The fatigue life was plotted in dependence on the mean stress and on the plastic strain amplitude. The principal contribution to the drop of the fatigue life with the mean stress is due to the increase of the plastic strain amplitude in cycling with mean stress.

Interstitial free (IF) steels are widely used as thin sheet in the automobile industries because of their many favorable properties. Although, fatigue properties of IF steels do not have significant importance to auto body makers, however, they are very concerned about the tensile and fatigue strength of the steels used for structural purposes to ensure safety of passengers. So, fatigue results of this steel might help researchers to understand the behaviors of high strength steels. In this study cyclic and static properties have been studied at room temperature in the air. Initiative has also been taken to observe the fatigue fracture morphology of this steel. Experimental results show that the fatigue limit is corresponding to about 40% of tensile strength and 80% of the yield strength of this steel. Fractographic observations reveal a mixed type of fracture mode (intergranular and transgranular cracking) fractures.

The paper introduces the experiments of sulfate attack on concrete under stress state. The concrete (MSFAC) was made with machine-made sand and fly ash. Before immersed in sodium solution with sulfate-ion concentration of 50000mg/L, the concrete beams with 100mm×100mm ×400mm dimension were in flexural tensile stress at levels of 20%, 40% and 60% of flexural tensile strength by the special designed stress devices. The sulfate-ion content in different erosion depths of concrete was measured at attack age of 30, 90, 180, 270, 360, 540 and 720 days by the chemical titration method. The results show that the apparent damage such as rough surface and cement past peeling off became more serious with the increasing tensile stress level and the prolongation of attack age, while much more obvious crystallization of gypsum was in surface cracks, the sulfate-ion content in the first layer near surface did not reflect the real status of concrete affected by tensile stress levels. The sulfate-ion contents of inside layers increased basically with the attack age at stress levels lower than 60% of tensile strength of concrete. In conditions of the experiment, the sulfate-ion content reduced when the attack age was longer than 540 days at the stress level of 60%.
