BACKGROUND Research on the use of the Internet in the medical field is experiencing many advances, including mobile applications, social networks, telemedicine. Its implementation in medical care and comprehensive patient management is a much discussed topic at present. OBJECTIVE This narrative review aims to understand the impact of the internet and social networks on the management of diabetes, both for patients and medical staff. METHODS The bibliographic search was carried out in the databases Pubmed, Virtual Health Library (VHL) and Lilacs between 2018 to 2020. RESULTS Multiple mobile applications have been created for the help and control of diabetic patients, as well as the implementation of online courses, improving the knowledge of health personnel applying them in the field of telemedicine. CONCLUSIONS The use of the Internet and social networks brings many benefits for both the diabetic patient and the health personnel, offering advantages for both.

Foreign language anxiety (FLA) has a debilitating influence on the oral performance of EFL speakers. Over the past decade, most research in MALL has emphasized the use of mobile applications on improving language skills, but little research has explored the impact of using video recording tool to decrease foreign language speaking anxiety (FLSA). Hence, this study examines the effect of using video recording tool on students' EFL speaking anxiety. Twenty-eight pre-intermediate freshmen at Van Lang University, Vietnam, participated in a seven-week project. In this research, mixed method was used in combination with three data collection instruments: questionnaire, observation notes, semi-structured interview. The results indicated that video recording tool significantly lowers EFL speaking anxiety. Therefore, this study makes a major contribution to research on FLA by exploring freshmen's anxiety causes and its impacts on learners' oral performance and offering a technique to help them overcome that phobia: mobile phone video recording.

Achievement of precision measurement is highly desired in a current industrial revolution where a significant increase in living standards increased municipal solid waste. The current industry 4.0 standards require accurate and efficient edge computing sensors towards solid waste classification. Thus, if waste is not managed properly, it would bring about an adverse impact on health, the economy, and the global environment. All stakeholders need to realize their roles and responsibilities for solid waste generation and recycling. To ensure recycling can be successful, the waste should be correctly and efficiently separated. The performance of edge computing devices is directly proportional to computational complexity in the context of nonorganic waste classification. Existing research on waste classification was done using CNN architecture, e.g., AlexNet, which contains about 62,378,344 parameters, and over 729 million floating operations (FLOPs) are required to classify a single image. As a result, it is too heavy and not suitable for computing applications that require inexpensive computational complexities. This research proposes an enhanced lightweight deep learning model for solid waste classification developed using MobileNetV2, efficient for lightweight applications including edge computing devices and other mobile applications. The proposed model outperforms the existing similar models achieving an accuracy of 82.48% and 83.46% with Softmax and support vector machine (SVM) classifiers, respectively. Although MobileNetV2 may provide a lower accuracy if compared to CNN architecture which is larger and heavier, the accuracy is still comparable, and it is more practical for edge computing devices and mobile applications.

A survey was conducted to assess the impact of mobile applications developed by theKrishiVigyan Kendra Banavasi with 150 farmers in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh inthe year 2020. KVK Banavasi developed three mobile applications namely ANGRAU-ATARI CFLD, ANGRAU Pashu Poshan and Fertilizer Calculator for benefiting farmingcommunity. Majority (64.67%) of the respondents were found in medium usage of mobileapplications, in agriculture. Fertilizer Calculator mobile application was found highest usage(74.50%) among the farmers when compared with other two applications. ANGRAUATATRI CFLD application was used by an average of 46.83 per cent farmers forinformation on new improved varieties, 75 % for control measures of pest and diseasesand 29 per cent for market related information. ANGRAU Pashu Poshan application wasused by 75 per cent livestock farmers for sheep management, 56 per cent for cattlemanagement and 45 per cent for poultry related information. Fertilizer calculator applicationwas used by 80 per cent farmers for recommended dose of fertilizers and 10 per cent forsoil test based fertilizer application.

BACKGROUND Chronic diseases are an important public health issue worldwide and affect an individual's quality of life. Due to the alarming rise in type 2 diabetes, healthcare, which was previously largely focused primarily on diagnosis and treatment of the disease, is increasingly focused on prevention and self-care. Patients who adhere to a constant and strict treatment regimen (physical activity, diet, medication) and regularly monitor their health, maintain self-care and health, prevent exacerbation of the disease and prevent complications of diabetes (retinopathy, diabetic feet). Many innovative devices that have become increasingly present in patient health care in recent years, such as mobile applications, are available to patients to maintain consistency in monitoring their health status. Mobile applications make it easier for individuals to monitor their self-care, monitor illness, and make it easier to follow instructions regarding disease control. OBJECTIVE The study aim is to determine the impact of mobile application use on self-care in patients with type 2 diabetes. The aim of the study is also to evaluate and test the usefulness of the forDiabetes application as a tool to improve the self-care of individuals with type 2 diabetes. METHODS We will perform a double-blind randomized controlled trial. The study will include individuals over the age of 18 who have been diagnosed and have regulated type 2 diabetes, who have already received oral treatment and are being treated in family medicine practice. Also, individuals included in the study should not have any acute complications due to the consequences of type 2 diabetes. During the study, they should be able to use an Android or iOS mobile phone and a blood glucose meter. With the help of simple randomization, individuals will be divided into an intervention and a control group. Individuals in the intervention group will use the forDiabetes mobile app to monitor their self-care for type 2 diabetes. Individuals in the control group will not receive a special intervention. Data will be collected using the “Self-care of Diabetes Inventory” questionnaire and a “Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire”. Blood sugar, blood pressure, HbA1c, and weight measurements will be monitored using the calibrated instruments during the study by the nurses employed in family medicine practice. Data will be collected at the beginning of the study and after the patient visit to the family medicine practice. RESULTS The expected results as a result of using the mobile application forDiabetes are the impact on the level of self-care, the impact on the perception of the disease, blood sugar levels, blood pressure, HbA1c, and the measured body weight of the patient. CONCLUSIONS The research contributes to greater visibility and usability of mobile applications for self-care of patients with type 2 diabetes and makes aware of the possible use of innovative methods. As mobile applications are being developed at a faster pace, the security aspect of user information is being neglected. A compromised smartphone can inflict severe damage to both users and the cellular service provider. Malware on a smartphone can make the phone partially or fully unusable, cause unwanted billing, steal private information, or infect every name in a user's phonebook. A solid understanding of the characteristics of malware is the beginning step to prevent much of the unwanted consequences. This chapter is intended to provide an overview of security threats posed by Android malware. In particular, the authors focus on the characteristics commonly found in malware applications and understand the code level features that allow us to detect the malicious signatures. The authors also discuss some common defense techniques to mitigate the impact of malware applications.

PurposeThis study examines the impact of response time on user experience for mobile applications and considers the moderating influence of gender and network environment on this relationship.Design/methodology/approachAn experiment was conducted with 50 young adults to evaluate their user experience of a mobile application that simulates variations in network environment and response time. User experience was evaluated based on the three constituent dimensions of tolerance, acceptance, and satisfaction.FindingsAnalytical results demonstrate that response time not only adversely affects user experience of mobile applications, but that this effect is not homogeneous across the three dimensions of tolerance, acceptance and satisfaction. The findings also illustrate that gender moderates the effect of response time on user experience, however, the negative influence is more salient for males than females, which is opposite to our hypothesis. The joint moderating influence of gender and network environment turned out to be partly significant.Practical implicationsBy illuminating users' tolerance, acceptance, and satisfaction with varied response times, findings from this study can inform the design of mobile applications such that desired levels of user experience can be assured with minimum resources.Originality/valueAlthough response time has been hailed as a key determinant of user experience for desktop applications, there is a paucity of studies that have investigated the impact of response time on user experience for mobile applications. Furthermore, prior research on response time neglects the multi-dimensional nature of user experience. This study bridges the above mentioned knowledge gaps by delineating user experience into its constituent dimensions and clarifying the effects of response time on each of these dimensions.

Currently, with the widespread penetration of mobile devices with Internet access, including the smartphones, they can allow specific and/or complementary activities in the health field as well as in other commercial sectors. To verify the impact of the studies about medical scientific publications relatives to cardiac mobile applications (app). This review corresponds to information in scientific journals of high impact. The intention of this review is respond to the follow question: How these research works have evaluated the performance of health mobile applications, with a special interest in cardiac issues? This review of these searches corresponds to an analysis by 4 categories, which are: Assessment of the wearables—Body Care, Use of sensors in the applications, app in health, Health Care—Comparisons of review app and app specialized commercial/clinical use. Only 6% of the app are associated with a medical professional, 15% is published by a professional medical society and 63% according to the opinions of the user. It provides evidence of how some apps have been evaluated, and in some cases the effectiveness of the estimated accuracy is not in line with the real situation. In Panama, a platform has been presented that permit the integration of health applications for patient follow-up. AmI-HEALTH has been developed to provide a mechanism for self-management of hypertensive patient data, by re-cording elements such as blood pressure (systolic, diastolic and pulse). In this point is very important to remember to the near relation between the Cardiac Issues and the hypertension condition. This makes us reflect on the true implications that bring us closer to these technological innovations. Today, our world is so changing and globalized.
