R&D outsourcing becomes the often-adopted strategy for firms to innovate. However, R&D cooperation often ends up with failure because of its inherent quality of instability. One of the main reasons for cooperation failure is the opportunistic behavior. As the R&D contract between firms is inherently incomplete, opportunistic behavior always cannot be avoided in the collaborative process. R&D cooperation has been divided into horizontal and vertical types. This paper utilizes game theory to study opportunistic behavior in the vertical R&D cooperation and analyzes the equilibrium of the cooperation. Based on the equilibrium and numerical results, it is found that the vertical R&D cooperation is inherently unstable, and the downstream firm is more likely to break the agreement. The level of knowledge spillovers and the cost of R&D efforts have different effects on firms’ payoffs. When the level of knowledge spillover is low or the cost of R&D efforts is high, mechanisms such as punishment for opportunism may be more effective to guarantee the stability of cooperation.

In this paper, we have developed a compartment of epidemic model with vaccination. We have divided the total population into five classes, namely susceptible, exposed, infective, infective in treatment and recovered class. We have discussed about basic properties of the system and found the basic reproduction number (R0) of the system. The stability analysis of the model shows that the system is locally as well as globally asymptotically stable at disease-free equilibrium E0when R0< 1. When R0> 1 endemic equilibrium E1exists and the system becomes locally asymptotically stable at E1under some conditions. We have also discussed the epidemic model with two controls, vaccination control and treatment control. An objective functional is considered which is based on a combination of minimizing the number of exposed and infective individuals and the cost of the vaccines and drugs dose. Then an optimal control pair is obtained which minimizes the objective functional. Our numerical findings are illustrated through computer simulations using MATLAB. Epidemiological implications of our analytical findings are addressed critically.

Self-excited vibrations significantly reduce the milling productivity, deteriorate the quality of machined surface and tool life. One of the ways to avoid these vibrations is to modify the cutting parameters based on the stability analysis results. A method of numerical simulation of self-excited vibrations in the time domain can be used for this purpose. A comparison of numerical simulation results with those from experiments conducted using a milling machine is presented. The results confirm the correctness of applied modeling.

Abstract The collapse of the embankment is a problem that needs attention to find the right solution, so that the risk can be minimized. The condition of the embankment is influenced by the strength of the soil layer of the embankment, groundwater flow in the embankment, the condition of the water level of the embankment and human activities around the embankment. Changes in the quality of soil density in the embankment can form cavity zones within the embankment which cause changes in groundwater flow patterns in the embankment. The degradation of the soil layer of the embankment can cause piping, overtopping which is the cause of erosion of the embankment body and disturbs the stability of the embankment. Therefore, to determine the condition of the embankment soil layer, research on the stability of the embankment has been carried out using the geoelectric method at the location of the embankment in the Cipancuh and Penjalin reservoirs, so that an image of the embankment soil layer is obtained to determine the cavity zones in the embankment, the flow pattern in the embankment soil layer. Keywords:  cavity zones, flow patterns, geoelectric methods, the stability of the embankment.

The paper considers the shortand medium-term planning problems of the regimes of multi-line technical gas pipeline corridors (MLGP) of Russian gas supply system. The fall in gas production due to the depletion of the gas fields leads to a decrease in the load of some operating MLGPs. At the same time, there is a redundancy of production capacities at compressor stations (CS). It becomes possible to use various technological schemes for incorporating CS with lines "pass by" in order to reduce the cost of gas pumping. The solution of the optimization task for the search for MLGP regimes in a one-criterion (minimum of the energy cost) formulation leads to frequent equipment switching. That is unacceptable. Therefore, it is advisable to proceed to multi-criteria statements, formalizing and introducing as criteria the requirements for the stability of technological schemes for switching on equipment, which are usually respected by the dispatch services. The purpose of this article is the development and testing of mathematical models and a computer program to support the adoption of dispatch solutions for managing modes of large MLGPs under conditions of incomplete loading. The solution method is demonstrated by the example of a three-line MLGP. The choice of optimal control is carried out using dynamic programming methods. In order to improve the quality of the choice of control actions, an algorithm is suggested that takes into account the stochastic nature of the loading of the MLGP.

Abstract. The stabillity of baselines produced by Cheongyang (CYG) observatory from a period of 2014 to 2016 is analysed. Step height of higher than 5 nT were found in H and Z components in 2014 and 2015 due to magnetic noise in the absolute measurement hut. In addition, a periodic modulation behaviour observed in the H and Z baseline curves was related to temperature variation of about 20 °C in the fluxgate magnetometer hut. The quality of the baselines was improved by correcting the discontinuity in the H and Z baselines. Moreover, the stability of the both baselines was also improved by about 6 nT/year from 10 nT/year by performing the temperature effect correction.

ABSTRACT The functions of university libraries (UL) are to provide the bibliographic, documentary and informational infrastructure to support scientific activities, as well as to disseminate the knowledge produced by their academic entity to society. To achieve their mission, ULs need to be evaluated and, in Brazil, this evaluation is done by the National Student Performance Exam (ENADE - ExameNacional de Desempenho de Estudantes) through the Student Questionnaire (SQ). The present study evaluated the quality of the indicators used in the SQ for the evaluation of ULs. This quality was evaluated by considering the presence of the following essential properties for good indicators: stability, validity and importance of parameters. For the stability analysis, the SQ questions were repeated in the period from 2004 to 2014. Regarding the validity, a correlation analysis was performed between the results obtained in the SQ with another theoretically related indicator. For the analysis of the importance, a group of specialists was formed, composed of librarians with experience in the management of ULs and, through the Delphi method, indicators were evaluated as to their relevance. This work verified that the indicators used by ENADE are considered important, but they do not have stability and validity.

The article identifies the main trends characteristic of the modern confectionery market of Ukraine. The reasons for the slowdown in production growth, the gradual increase in prices for all types of confectionery, changes in the structure of demand for products are considered. Exports of confectionery products require Ukrainian producers to expand their own range, as well as to bring the quality of products to European standards. The recent trend characterizes the increase in demand in the domestic market for complex (combined) confectionery, so the main prerequisite for the development of the industry is to improve production, which requires significant capital investment. The paper analyzes the dynamics of the main indicators of the sample of confectionery enterprises in order to assess the stability of their financial condition. For providing of steady development of industry the Government program, is needed built on balanced to demand with application of state-private partnership. In the conditions of COVID epidemic with the aim of prevention of possible bankruptcy it is expedient to inculcate the cost-oriented management and preventive anti-crisis dynamic management. For their introduction it is necessary to work out branch purposeful events on in-plant training of workers of pastry industry.

Abstract Background: Physiotherapy is an integral part of medicine, both in terms of prevention and treatment. Despite the long history of healing with movement and other physical factors, physiotherapy is considered to be a young field of medicine, and the occupation of the physiotherapist in the social consciousness is in the building phase. The aim of the study was to investigate the interest in physiotherapist Material/Methods: The study involved 199 people, including 117 women (58.79%) and 82 men (41.21%), residents of the Silesian Voivodship. Age of respondents: 16-81 years (x = 46.22, SD = 13.45). The research tool was an original questionnaire. Closed questions concerned the interest in physiotherapist profession, self-assessment of knowledge and its sources, opinions on the availability and quality of services, and the social prestige and profitability of the physiotherapist profession. Results: Respondents most often declared that their interest in the profession is poor or average, but they evaluate their level of knowledge of the profession as high. The prevailing opinions are that the availability of physiotherapist services is large, but at patients own expense, and the cost-effectiveness of the profession is average. Women revealed greater interest and declared more knowledge of the profession than men. Differences also concerned the opinions on the profitability of the profession. Conclusions: The public interest in physiotherapist profession is on an average level, positive opinions about physiotherapists prevail, especially among older people. The profession is considered to be averagely profitable.

Recurrent neural networks with higher order connections, from here on referred to as higher-order neural networks (HONNs), may be used for the solution of combinatorial optimization problems. In Ref. 5 a mapping of the traveling salesman problem (TSP) onto a HONN of arbitrary order was developed, thereby creating a family of related networks that can be used to solve the TSP. In this paper, we explore the trade-off between network complexity and quality of solution that is made available by the HONN mapping of the TSP. The trade-off is investigated by undertaking an analysis of the stability of valid solutions to the TSP in a HONN of arbitrary order. The techniques used to perform the stability analysis are not new, but have been widely used elsewhere in the literature.15–17 The original contribution in this paper is the application of these techniques to a HONN of arbitrary order used to solve the TSP. The results of the stability analysis show that the quality of solution is improved by increasing the network complexity, as measured by the order of the network. Furthermore, it is shown that the Hopfield network, as the simplest network in the family of higher-order networks, is expected to produce the poorest quality of solution.

AbstractThe paper focuses on measuring and evaluating the impact of selected technical and technological factors -the height of adjustable guides and stretching force - on the side deflection of the saw band of a joinery band saw. There is a detailed description of the ways the side deflection can be measured. In order to find out the intensity of the stretching force was used portable tension meter SANDVIK 5000, enabling to check the tensile stress in the saw blades of a gang saw or in the saw bands of a band saw. The actual experiment was conducted on a joinery band saw, at the cutting rate vc = 15 m·s-1. The results of the measurements confirmed the theoretical assumption of the impact of the selected technical and technological factors on the stability of the saw band, where the side deflection decreases with increasing stretching force and increases with increasing height of the guides. The stability of the saw band affects the quality of the surface to be treated, thus saving the cost of machining the workpiece and making work productivity more efficient.
