The two indices of the supply level of urban public transport facilities resource and the public transport-private cars traveling time ratio are used to evaluate the public transport accessibility in urban networks. An evaluation method for urban public transport facilities resource supply is proposed based on accessibility by taking Shenzhen as the research area and by using the London PTAL evaluation system. The method takes into account the walking time outside the public transit station and the spatial layout of public transit stations, reflects regional development opportunity, and can reflect regional differences regarding public transport facilities resources in various spatial scales. This paper evaluates the relative service competiveness of public transports and private cars in the entire travel of individuals based on the public transport-private cars travelling time ratio, which lays a foundation to judge the service level of public transport and to make a purpose-specific transportation policy and public transport development scheme.

The need for an efficient public mass transportation system in the context of developing countries can well be overemphasized since a majority of the urban population continues to be either captive walkers or users of the public transport facility. In Addis Ababa, inadequacy of public transit and improper traffic management issues are dominant problems. Evidence indicates that solutions related to traffic congestion and accidents are still left behind the city. However, it is expected that the recent project interventions and initiatives will enhance the capability of the public transit to deliver effective and sustainable transportation. This chapter evaluates the public transit performance, the initiatives towards terminals, and the future models for implementation. It concludes that an integrated public mass transit system is vital to a sustainable future public transport in developing cities in general and in Addis Ababa in particular. Recommendations are forwarded in the chapter.

In order to improve the objectivity of urban public transport network evaluation and achieve the sub-file of quality level of preliminary scheme, a comprehensive evaluation method for urban public transport network was proposed based on TOPSIS, and then constructed the evaluation model of urban public transport network. This method was applied to Xian urban public transport network planning, which obeyed the basic theory of scheme evaluation and some related requirements. The result showed that planning-5 was the best one among the five urban public transport network planning in Xian and consistent with the passenger flow prediction. The evaluation model for urban public transport network based on TOPSIS was objective, which involved few parameters, simple operation, scientific evaluation and provided a basis for urban public transport network planning decision.

For the contradiction between the current urban public transport system and land use status in many small and medium-sized cities, the purpose of the paper is to present the counterplan framework of the land using mode and to provide mechanism and ensuring for the land using mode that matches the conventional public transit system.

The spatial and economic growth of cities and regions is heavily influenced by transportation. A better knowledge of public transportation will help to clarify the positions of the public and private sectors, as well as recognize the critical government position. To study the problems and issues of the public transportation system, Qasimabad, Hyderabad is selected as a study area due to some serious issues of public transportation. Personal observations and questionnaires were used to gather data from the research area. And for analyzing the data SPSS and MS Excel are used. The results reveal that the existing public transportation system is not meeting the needs of residents. Hence use of private transportation is high and causing environmental and traffic jam problems. As 68% of respondents use a motorbike for recreational purposes, 64% of respondents are not using public transport due to safety factors. In general, 54% of respondents were not satisfied with the service of public transport. As people are willing to use public transport but due to some factors such as safety, they are not using public transport so it is suggested that both vehicles and roads must be safe for users. This study aims to study the existing scenario of public transportation in terms of services and facilities, and people’s perception about public transportation. So it is concluded that people are tending to use public transport but under some certain conditions (factors preventing the use of public transport), if these concerns are solved then public transport system will become more efficient.

Problem. Currently, there is no universal approach to improve the efficiency of the urban public transport operation. Different methods are used during the estimation of public transport operation cost and the quality of services for the passengers. It makes actual the development of the target function which will allow assessing the carrier cost and passenger expenditures, and therefore find the balance between the interests of these parties of the transportation process. Thus, the alternative to the existing approaches can be created and then used to organize passenger transportation and improve transport enterprise management. Development of this alternative is the actual task as the new target function will open the horizon to improve the methods of organization of public transport operation. Goal. The new approach to optimize the costs of public transport operation needs to be tested for the appropriateness for the planning of passenger service in cities. Methodology. The developed target function was derived as the result of the analysis of the economic and social factors influencing the efficiency of the urban public transport operation. Results. The use of the developed target function allows finding the optimal values of cost components for the passenger and the carrier. Originality. The obtained function to optimize the performance of public transport allows reducing the costs of suboptimal use of vehicles capacity, suboptimal allocation of the vehicles to the routes and the irrational organization of vehicles operating on the routes. Practical value. The results of the research clarify the controlled and uncontrolled parameters of the public transport system operation.

Abstract: At present, China's construction industry professionals are mainly migrant workers, the industry is characterized by population, fluidity big, poor living environment, workers' quality is generally not high, is a typical prone to the spread of the disease, as a result, public health and epidemic prevention work of the construction industry is an urgent need to pay attention to the problem.Based on field research, this paper adopts brainstorm method to construct the index of public health epidemic prevention system of construction projects.Through the establishment of the binary fuzzy analytic hierarchy process, the weight parameters of each epidemic prevention index are given. Then by using the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method and the designed two-point evaluation standard, the public health epidemic prevention ability evaluation system of the construction industry is constructed. Finally, the rationality and accuracy of the evaluation system are verified by the application analysis of specific engineering examples. The results show that the constructed public health epidemic prevention system has good applicability and can accurately and objectively reflect the public health epidemic prevention ability of the project department.

Along with the acceleration of city-urbanization and industrialization process of the cities, city traffic demand increases rapidly. This provides a good development opportunity for the urban traffic and also brings new challenges for the urban traffic at the same time. In addition, the demands for the public transport service quality are becoming more and more strictly for the growth of residents’ travel and the improvement of life quality, the problems in the public transport system have become the main aspects that restrict the development of the urban public transport system. So the advantages of BRT in the optimization of the network are becoming more and more significant.

Abstract This article presents a detailed description and explanation of the methodology for evaluation of quality public transport criteria in terms of passenger satisfaction. In 2011-2014 this method was applied in an assessment of passenger satisfaction with the urban public transport system in Ostrava. In order to assess passengers’ satisfaction, traffic survey has been chosen utilizing questionnaire and student inquirers. The results achieved by application of the method have been processed to evaluate time accessibility criteria of a public transport system. Time accessibility criteria group (accessibility of stops, waiting for a connection and transferability in the public transport network) evaluates physical and psychological aspects of the passenger during his arrival at the station, while leaving the station, in the course of waiting for a connection and during the transfer. The time accessibility criteria are considered the most significant criteria that impact a passenger’s decision to utilise public transport options.

Urban agglomerations (centres with gravitating settlements in the suburbs) are examples of overpopulated urban structure with almost permanent peak load. Selection of public transport is the fundamental issue in planning the expansion of the existing one, or in constructing a new form of urban public transport system. Achieving a higher level of using mass public transport can also be inspired by building intermodal terminals (e.g. bus-train/urban railways/-car). However, apart from the urban railway, funicular, bicycle subsystem and maritime transport should be included as alternative public transport modalities as well. According to the problem described in this scientific paper, the suggested model is that of integration of all forms of public passenger service with a unique organisation, unified payment collection, integrated timetable, all included into a unique information system. The results of research in this paper indicate that the first step of integration of the public passenger transportation implies founding regional transport administration.
