This paper investigates behavior and control of the ballastless track-subgrade vibration induced by high-speed trains under mud pumping occurring in the subgrade bed. The characteristics of mud pumping occurring in the subgrade bed under the ballastless track structure are analyzed by visual observation and nondestructive testing. Then, based on the injection of the low-viscosity epoxy resin (LVER), the repair procedures for the mud pumping are proposed. A variety of on-site tests are performed on the ballastless track-subgrade with and without mud pumping and also after mud pumping reinforcement to analyze the vibration of the ballastless track-subgrade under the high-speed trains. The test results show that mud pumping can significantly increase the vertical vibration acceleration and displacement of the ballastless track structure and slightly decrease the vibration of subgrade surface. After mud pumping reinforcement, the abnormal vibration of the ballastless track-subgrade can be effectively controlled to make the vibration close to normal. In addition, the vibration ratio of the subgrade surface to the concrete base is proposed as a way to evaluate the effectiveness of the reinforcement of the mud pumping using the LVER, based on the vibration attenuation feature of the ballastless track-subgrade.

The mechanical performance of China Railway Track System type II (CRTS II) ballastless track suitable for High-Speed Railway (HSR) bridges is investigated in this project by testing a one-quarter-scaled three-span specimen under thermal loading. Stress analysis was performed both experimentally and numerically, via finite-element modeling in the latter case. The results showed that strains in the track slab, in the cement-emulsified asphalt (CA) mortar and in the track bed, increased nonlinearly with the temperature increase. In the longitudinal direction, the zero-displacement section between the track slab and the track bed was close to the 1/8L section of the beam, while the zero-displacement section between the track slab and the box girder bridge was close to the 3/8L section. The maximum values of the relative vertical displacement between the track bed and the bridge structure occurred in the section at three-quarters of the span. Numerical analysis showed that the lower the temperature, the larger the tensile stresses occurring in the different layers of the track structure, whereas the higher the temperature, the higher the relative displacement between the track system and the box girder bridge. Consequently, quantifying the stresses in the various components of the track structure resulting from sudden temperature drops and evaluating the relative displacements between the rails and the track bed resulting from high-temperature are helpful in the design of ballastless track structures for high-speed railway lines.

The slab track is a new sort of track structure, which has been widely used in high-speed rail and special line for passenger. However, the ballastless track structure design theory is still not perfect and can not meet the requirements of current high-speed rail and passenger line ballastless track. In this paper, composite beam method is used to calculate the deflection of the track plate and in this way the vertical supporting stress distribution of the track plate can be gotten which set a basis for the follow-up study of the dynamic stress distribution in the subgrade. Slab track plate’s bearing stress under moving load is analyzed through Matlab program. By calculation and analysis, it is found that the deflection of track plate and the rail in the double-point-supported finite beam model refers to the rate of spring coefficient of the fastener and the mortar. The supporting stress of the rail plate is inversely proportional to the supporting stress of the rail. The two boundary conditions of that model ,namely, setting the end of the model in the seams of the track plate or not , have little effect on the results. We can use the supporting stress of the track plates on state 1to get the distribution of the supporting stress in the track plate when bogies pass. Also, when the dynamic load magnification factor is 1.2, the track plate supporting stress of CRST I & CRST II-plate non-ballasted structure is around 40kPa.

As a newly appeared defect under slab tracks in high-speed railways, mud pumping weakens the support ability of the subgrade to slab track, bringing about deviations on the vibration responses of the vehicle, slab track, and subgrade. Therefore, this paper proposes a vehicle-slab track-subgrade coupled model based on the multibody simulation principle and the finite element theory to highlight the influences of mud pumping defect. As an external excitation to this model, random track irregularity is considered. In order to simulate the mud pumping defect, the contact between the concrete base and subgrade is described as a spring-damper system. This model is validated by field test results and other simulation results, and a very good agreement is found. The vibration responses of the vehicle, slab track, and subgrade under different mud pumping lengths and train speeds are studied firstly. The deviations of vibration responses in high-speed railways induced by mud pumping are then obtained, and the limited mud pumping length is put forward finally to provide a recommendation for maintenance works of high-speed railways in practice.

When constructing a high-speed railway system in an urban area, the reduction of the ground vibration and noise generated by train passages is a vitally important environmental consideration. In this paper we focus on the development of a centrifuge vibration testing system, which can simulate dynamic loading acting on shallow foundations. The system is used to generate vertical vibration similar to that generated by high-speed trains. The characteristics of wave propagation in a shallow circular foundation on sand are investigated. The effects of two types of barriers on vibration reduction are studied. Additionally, the impact of using vibration attenuating materials to build trackbeds is evaluated.

The study focuses on dynamic analysis of composite bridge / track structure / train systems (BTT systems) with random vertical track irregularities taken into consideration. The paper presents the results of numerical analysis of advanced virtual models of series-of-types of single-span simply-supported railway steel-concrete bridges (SCB) with symmetric platforms, located on lines with the ballasted track structure adapted to traffic of high-speed trains.

In order to analyze the noise properties and promote the sound comfort of the high-speed train, the noise samples are collected in passengers cars, dining cars and car joint parts at different speeds. By means of 18 sound samples, the psychoacoustic parameters of the high-speed train are discussed. Before calculation of other psychoacoustic properties, the calculation method of loudness must be properly chosen through analysis of all loudness calculation method. In the paper, the Filter/ISO 532B method is selected to obtain the loudness of the high-speed train and based on the loudness; other psychoacoustic properties are obtained and analyzed. The discussion of psychoacoustic properties is the basis of further noise evaluation and control of high-speed trains.
