A method for solving the problem of classifying short-text messages in the form of sentences of customers uttered in talking via the telephone line of organizations is considered. To solve this problem, a classifier was developed, which is based on using a combination of two methods: a description of the subject area in the form of a hierarchy of entities and plausible reasoning based on the case-based reasoning approach, which is actively used in artificial intelligence systems. In solving various problems of artificial intelligence-based analysis of data, these methods have shown a high degree of efficiency, scalability, and independence from data structure. As part of using the case-based reasoning approach in the classifier, it is proposed to modify the TF-IDF (Term Frequency - Inverse Document Frequency) measure of assessing the text content taking into account known information about the distribution of documents by topics. The proposed modification makes it possible to improve the classification quality in comparison with classical measures, since it takes into account the information about the distribution of words not only in a separate document or topic, but in the entire database of cases. Experimental results are presented that confirm the effectiveness of the proposed metric and the developed classifier as applied to classification of customer sentences and providing them with the necessary information depending on the classification result. The developed text classification service prototype is used as part of the voice interaction module with the user in the objective of robotizing the telephone call routing system and making a shift from interaction between the user and system by means of buttons to their interaction through voice.

Many educational interventions encourage parents to engage in their child’s education as if parental time and attention is limitless. Sadly, though, it is not. Successfully encouraging certain parental investments may crowd out other productive behaviors. A randomized field experiment (N = 2,212) assessed the impact of an intervention in which parents of middle and high school students received multiple text messages per week encouraging them to ask their children specific questions tied to their science curriculum. The intervention increased parent–child at-home conversations about science but did not detectably impact science test scores. However, the intervention decreased parent engagement in other, potentially productive, parent behaviors. These findings illustrate that parent engagement interventions are not costless: There are opportunity costs to shifting parental effort.

After decades of basic research with many setbacks, artificial intelligence (AI) has recently obtained significant breakthroughs, enabling computer programs to outperform human interpretation of medical images in very specific areas. After this shock wave that probably exceeds the impact of the first AI victory of defeating the world chess champion in 1997, some reflection may be appropriate on the consequences for clinical imaging in rheumatology. In this narrative review, a short explanation is given about the various AI techniques, including ‘deep learning’, and how these have been applied to rheumatological imaging, focussing on rheumatoid arthritis and systemic sclerosis as examples. By discussing the principle limitations of AI and deep learning, this review aims to give insight into possible future perspectives of AI applications in rheumatology.

A number of papers have found that personalization of salutations in e-mail communications may lead to higher response rates. Given their widespread use, Short Text Messages (SMS) may also be useful contact modes in surveys. Using experimental data from an online survey on Italian graduates, this work intends to evaluate the impact of personalized SMS salutations on response and measurement error. We find evidence that personalization has a positive impact on response rates and some indication that it may lead to better survey data. Limitations and implications of the study are also discussed.

In the Internet age, the proliferation of multimedia computer technology (MCT) brings unprecedented opportunities to English teaching in colleges. This paper firstly carries out a questionnaire survey on the current status of personalized teaching of college English, and summed up the main problems with the current teaching mode. On this basis, the authors developed an MCT-based personalized English teaching design, with the aid of information technology (IT) and online teaching platform. To verify its effect, the proposed design was tested through contrastive experiment. The results show that the MCT-based personalized English teaching design could improve the interests and performance of English learning, and cultivate a good learning habit. In summary, this paper explores the personalized teaching of college English from both theoretical and practical angles, laying a good basis for high-quality English teaching and personalized development of students.

We are living in the technological era, where everything is integrated with each other. If we are discussing regarding communication, it is integrated with one or two technologies. If we are discussing regarding automation, discussing regarding Image processing, discussing regarding embedded system, they all are integrated with a combination of technologies. Correspondingly Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Photonics are also integrated with each other. Now a day as AI is utilizing with photonics in abundant fields as well photonics is also serving AI to facilitate ultrafast AI networks to offer a novel class of Information Processing Machines (IPM). This chapter is based on identification and implementation of photonics for AI utility and AI for photonics. In this category a Dual core Photonics crystal fiber (PCF) is proposed which serve to identify infected cells of human being along with the integration of AI. This proposed design of PCF is providing relative sensitivity and confinement loss in an optimized manner with the impact of AI. Here potency of AI as well as of Photonics is explained to serve their applications related to each other.

With the rapid development of Internet technology, its application in the field of education is more extensive and diversified, and plays a greater role in teaching. Grammar teaching is an important part of English teaching. The complexity of grammar in forestry English leads to the common problems of English grammar among students. Relying on the Internet technology to establish the cloud classroom intelligent platform, online and offline interactive English teaching can fully play the role of online teaching resources and information technology by combining online and offline. This method can activate the classroom and improve students' language application ability and learning interest. Based on this, this paper analyzes the application of cloud classroom intelligent platform in English teaching. Then this paper discusses its construction method and application strategy, aiming to provide reference for relevant researchers.

Abstract: The spread of English as an international language has contributed to the current status of English teaching as a second or foreign language. This means that English teaching not only stimulates students to improve linguistic competence but also to enhance their intercultural competence. Teachers or designers must incorporate the cultural aspects as part of their teaching practices or teaching materials. This research aimed at (1) developing an intercultural-based textbook for teaching writing, (2) evaluating the feasibility of the intercultural-based textbook for teaching writing, and (3) evaluating the effect of the intercultural-based textbook on students’ writing skills. Twenty-one secondary school students participated as the subject of the research. Meanwhile, the ADDIE model (Analysis-Design-Develop-Implement Evaluate) was employed as its material development design. There were two experts who validated the textbook and an English teacher as the user. The result showed that an intercultural-based textbook was feasible to use for teaching writing. It was supported by the assessment results from the experts that were in the valid category. The use of the textbook also had an effect on students’ writing skills even in the low category. This could be seen from the post-test result that showed improvement compared to the pre-test result. Keywords: Intercultural competence, ADDIE Model, Writing Skill, Writing instruction, research, and development
