This paper introduces a superefficiency financial efficiency model with undesirable output based on the features that the output of industrial enterprises contains desirable output as well as undesirable output. Furthermore, the Malmquist index model is constructed for financial efficiency dynamic study, and the spatial Durbin model is constructed for evaluation and impact of enterprises. According to the financial data of Chinese enterprises from 2007 to 2019, this paper evaluates the financial efficiency of Chinese interprovincial industrial enterprises dynamically and measures the influence levels of major impacts on the financial efficiency of Chinese interprovincial industrial enterprises quantitatively. As reported by this paper, the conclusions are as follows: (1) In reference to the financial efficiency dynamic study analysis, there is an obvious growth trend in the financial efficiency of Chinese interprovincial industrial enterprises in different years. Based on the horizontal analysis of financial efficiency, there is a relatively large gap in financial efficiency among Chinese interprovincial industrial enterprises. (2) From the separation factors of financial efficiency analysis, the main factor affecting the growth of the financial efficiency of Chinese industrial enterprises is the modification of technology, and the modification of technical efficiency has a minor impact. (3) In accordance with the impacts of enterprise efficiency analysis, several major factors influence the financial efficiency of Chinese industrial enterprises such as major business cost, operating profit, total liabilities, national capital, and the number of R&D personnel.

Although resources are scarce and outputs incorporate the potential to save human lives, efficiency measurement endeavors with data envelopment analysis (DEA) methods are not yet commonplace in the research and practice of non-government organizations (NGO) and states involved in humanitarian logistics. We present a boot-strapped DEA window analysis and Malmquist index application as a methodological state of the art for a multi-input and multi-output efficiency analysis and discuss specific adaptions to typical core challenges in humanitarian logistics. A characteristic feature of humanitarian operations is the fact that a multitude of organizations are involved on at least two levels, national and supra-national, as well as in two sectors, private NGO and government agencies. This is modeled and implemented in an international empirical analysis: First, a comprehensive dataset from the 34 least developed countries in Africa from 2002 to 2015 is applied for the first time in such a DEA Malmquist index efficiency analysis setting regarding the national state actor level. Second, an analysis of different sections in a Rohingya refugee camp in Bangladesh is analyzed based on a bootstrapped DEA with window analysis application for 2017, 2018, and 2019 quarter data regarding the private NGO level of operations in humanitarian logistics.

With the increasingly fierce market competition, China’s tobacco industry has been severely tested. At the same time, according to the latest report of global Logistics Performance Index (LPI), there is a significant difference between China’s LPI and other developed countries, indicating that China’s logistics has low efficiency, high input and low output. How to improve the service level and operation efficiency of tobacco enterprises by strengthening the construction of logistics infrastructure network is an urgent problem for tobacco enterprises to solve. Therefore, DEA model and Malmquist index model are adopted in this paper to measure the logistics efficiency of Chinese tobacco enterprises from the aspect of logistics infrastructure network construction. This paper analyzes the state of logistics efficiency and the reasons of low efficiency in some economic regions and puts forward countermeasures and suggestions to improve the logistics efficiency of tobacco enterprises based on the construction of logistics infrastructure network.

Since the European Union has certain targets and criteria that must be fulfilled by its members, Turkey's situation in transportation compared to the EU member countries (23 countries whose data were accessed) was examined through the approaches of decision support models (Data Envelopment Analysis and Malmquist Index). This study investigates whether Turkey utilizes its road, airway and railway transportation indicators efficiently or not within the framework of the European Union (EU) accession process. In addition, it aims to demonstrate Turkey's current position compared to other EU countries by performing relative efficiency analysis on road, airway and railway transportation indicators. The conclusions of this study will help policymakers to determine Turkey's policy objectives for its integration to the EU in terms of transportation indicators.

The urban ecological civilization construction relates to welfare of the people and the national future. It is an important field of the high-quality economic development to improve the urban ecological efficiency level. The purpose of this research is to provide a new perspective and method for the quantitative study of the urban sustainable development, and also to provide some decision-making references for the improvement of the urban ecological efficiency in Henan province. This paper uses the slacks-based measure-data envelopment analysis (SBM-DEA) model containing the undesirable output and the Malmquist index model to fully evaluate the urban ecological efficiency level in Henan province during the period of 2005–2016, via both the static and dynamic analysis. Based on this, the bootstrap regression model is applied in analyzing the influencing factors of the urban ecological efficiency. The research shows three findings. First, according to the static efficiency analysis, the urban ecological efficiency in Henan province is low as a whole and has a big promotion space. Moreover, there is a significant difference in the urban ecological efficiency level among the five regions because of the different geographical locations and social and economic development situations of the cities. Second, according to the dynamic efficiency analysis, in the last 12 years, the urban ecological efficiency in Henan province has shown an overall growth trend, and the technological progress has played a major role in promoting the urban ecological efficiency in Henan province. Third, according to the influencing factor analysis, the governmental financial support hinders the improvement of the urban ecological efficiency in Henan province, while the level of opening to the outside world, the urban population density, and the urban greening level promote it.

In recent years, the bakery market has grown rapidly. Alongside its growth and fast change, it is very important to comprehend the productivity change of the bakery industry. Nowadays, effective management is more and more important to ensure the sustainable development of enterprises. Thus, productivity change of 22 self-owned stores of a famous bakery company (85 °C) from 2011 to 2016 was quantitatively analyzed and evaluated by adopting Malmquist index model in this study. Based on the Malmquist index model, the overall mean for total productivity change of 85 °C increased slightly from 2011 to 2016, and the productivity change was easily affected by technical progress. Moreover, the results also show that the north-district self-owned stores (which are located in subtropical climate) have the worst technical progress and total factor productivity change during 2011–2016 period by adopting the non-parametric Kruskal–Wallis and Dunn post-hoc test.

With the continuous acceleration of the modernization process, the Eco-environmental problems of the Yangtze River Economic Zone in China have become increasingly prominent, which makes the study of carbon emission efficiency become a long-term concern. Based on the panel data of 11 provinces and cities of the Yangtze River Economic Zone in 2009~2016, this paper calculates the DEA-Malmquist index of the Total Factor Carbon Emission Efficiency containing undesirable output in various provinces and cities and three major regions. By studying the DEA-Malmquist index and its decomposition, the results show that the Total Factor Carbon Emission Efficiency of various regions in the Yangtze River Economic Zone presents a growth trend, and its main contribution comes from technological progress. In the future, the emission reduction rules of the Yangtze River Economic Zone will be transformed from the traditional top-down emission reduction model to the bottom-up “independent contribution” emission reduction model.

Based on the energy consumption and the output value data of the 6 small heavy industrial enterprises during 2007-2011 in Shanghai, we calculated comprehensive energy consumption, carbon emissions, carbon intensity and energy intensity of these enterprises. It been found that the comprehensive energy consumption and the carbon emissions of the 6 small enterprises are in a fluctuating growth trend but the energy intensity and the carbon intensity show a trend of fluctuating downward. The energy intensity and the carbon intensity of the small enterprises are much larger than the average of the two whole industries in Shanghai. We analyzed the correlation coefficients between the output value and the energy consumption as well as between the output value and the carbon emissions. The results show that the comprehensive energy consumption and the carbon emissions have positive correlation as well as the carbon emissions and the output value.
