The fast-growing world population places food production under enormous pressure to ensure food security. One of the most common methods to increase food production is the use of pesticides, but the continuous use thereof has numerous detrimental effects on the environment. The interest in biopesticides for a possible substitute has grown over the past two decades. To determine the research evolution of biopesticides (green pesticides), a bibliometric analysis from 1994 to 2019 was carried out. A total of 580 documents were found eligible in the Scopus database for this analysis. Parameters such as the number of articles, article citations, keywords, source impact, and countries of publication were used to analyse the documents and rank countries based on authors, productivity, article citations, and co-authorship. The analysis reveals production increased significantly from 2009 and has the most published documents in 2019 with a total of 74 articles. Asia’s most populous countries, India and China, were ranked first and second, respectively, and the USA third in terms of the most productive countries in the field of plant biopesticides. Countries in Europe and Africa however have fewer publications than expected in this field, given the fact that they are high consumers of pesticides. India, China, and the USA have 4.08%, 2.94%, and 12.5% multiple country publications (MCPs), respectively, with the USA having a stronger collaboration. Finally, there is a clear indication in this study that India and China are taking the lead in substituting synthetic pesticides with the alternative natural plant biopesticide.

Acute lung injury (ALI) is an intractable disorder associated with macrophages. This bibliometric analysis was applied to identify the characteristics of global scientific output, the hotspots, and frontiers about macrophages in ALI over the past 10 years. We retrieved publications published from 2011 to 2020 and their recorded information from Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-expanded) of Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). Bibliometrix package was used to analyze bibliometric indicators, and the VOSviewer was used to visualize the trend and hotspots of researches on macrophages in ALI. Altogether, 2,632 original articles were reviewed, and the results showed that the annual number of publications (Np) concerning the role of macrophages in ALI kept increasing over the past 10 years. China produced the most papers, the number of citations (Nc) and H-index of the USA ranked first. Shanghai Jiaotong University and INT IMMUNOPHARMACOL were the most prolific affiliation and journal, respectively. Papers published by Matute-Bello G in 2011 had the highest local citation score (LCS). Recently, the keywords “NLRP3” and “extracellular vesicles” appeared most frequently. Besides, researches on COVID-19–induced ALI related to macrophages seemed to be the hotspot recently. This bibliometric study revealed that publications related to macrophages in ALI tend to increase continuously. China was a big producer and the USA was an influential country in this field. Most studies were mainly centered on basic researches in the past decade, and pathways associated with the regulatory role of macrophages in inhibiting and attenuating ALI have become the focus of attention in more recent studies. What is more, our bibliometric analysis showed that macrophages play an important role in COVID-19–induced ALI and may be a target for the treatment of COVID-19.

Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is one of the common adverse drug reactions and the leading cause of drug development attritions, black box warnings, and post-marketing withdrawals. Current biomarkers are suboptimal in detecting DILI and predicting its outcome. This study aimed to quantitatively and qualitatively investigate the research trends on DILI biomarkers using bibliometric analysis. All relevant publications were extracted from the Web of Science database. An online analysis platform of literature metrology, bibliographic item co-occurrence matrix builder, and CiteSpace software were used to analyze the publication trends. CitNetExplorer was used to construct direct citation networks and VOSviewer was used to analyze the keywords and research hotspots. We found a total of 485 publications related to DILI biomarkers published from 1991 to 2020. Toxicological Sciences had been the most popular journal in this field over the past 30 years. The USA maintained a top position worldwide and provided a pivotal influence, followed by China. Among all the institutions, the University of Liverpool was regarded as a leader for research collaboration. Moreover, Professors Paul B. Watkins and Tsuyoshi Yokoi made great achievements in topic area. We analyzed the citation networks and keywords, therefore identified five and six research hotspot clusters, respectively. We considered the publication information regarding different countries/regions, organizations, authors, journals, et al. by summarizing the literature on DILI biomarkers over the past 30 years. Notably, the subject of DILI biomarkers is an active area of research. In addition, the investigation and discovery of novel promising biomarkers such as microRNAs, keratin18, and bile acids will be future developing hotspots.

Globalisation and market reforms have made foreign policymaking a more inclusive and multilayered process. Para-diplomacy and emergence of empowered federating/component units engaging in international interaction call for recalibration of theories and understating of International Relations. The debate over central control versus unit autonomy raised the concern: whether para-diplomacy will turn out to be an asset or a threat for the sovereign state. While state may reap benefits of economic development, para-diplomacy may yet lead to regional imbalance, ethnic mobilisation and separatism. With the focus being shifted to Asia with respect to expanding market and sphere of influence, this article analyses the experience of para-diplomacy between India and China as well as of both with the USA. In doing so, reference is drawn to the past experiences of the West to understand how para-diplomacy took root and how is it practised in different contexts. Considering the economic, political and social implications of para-diplomatic practices in specific contexts, the article concludes with an attempt to find out the institutional space it may tread and the policy options it may hold out especially for India.

Aim: To provide a historical and global picture of research concerning lung nodules, compare the contributions of major countries and explore research trends over the past 10 years. Methods: A bibliometric analysis of publications from Scopus (1970–2020) and Web of Science (2011–2020). Results: Publications about pulmonary nodules showed an enormous growth trend from 1970 to 2020. There is a high level of collaboration among the 20 most productive countries and regions, with the USA located at the center of the collaboration network. The keywords ‘deep learning’, ‘artificial intelligence’ and ‘machine learning’ are current hotspots. Conclusions: Abundant research has focused on pulmonary nodules. Deep learning is emerging as a promising tool for lung cancer diagnosis and management.

Intercropping has been practiced worldwide in both traditional and sustainable agriculture to feed the growing population. This study aims to analyze the research status and evolution of intercropping, to identify the influential authors, research centers, and articles, and to reveal the main research topics between 1992 and 2020 based on the Web of Science Core Collection database. The results show that the volume of publications in this field has increased rapidly over the past three decades. The analysis identifies the top three authors (i.e., Meine Van Noordwijk, Wenyu Yang, and Teja Tscharntke), top three contributing organizations (i.e., the World Agroforestry Center (ICRAF), the Chinese Academy of Science, and the INRA), and three most productive countries (i.e., the USA, India, and China). Co-occurrence analysis demonstrates that studies on intercropping can be divided into four clusters as centered by keywords of intercropping/maize, biodiversity/conservation, agroforestry, and carbon, respectively. Lal 2004 is the most influential study with the greatest number of citations and Agroforestry Systems is the most utilized journal. Perspectives on future studies were also given. This study helps researchers to clarify the current research status in the field of intercropping and put forward its future research.

Abstract Background: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most aggressive subtype of breast cancer, and it lacks an efficient target treatment. Here, we aimed to gain knowledge on the development of TNBC research and explore potential treatment strategies.Methods: We analyzed 14,389 publications on TNBC from the Web of Science (WOS) over the past 20 years, from 2000 to 2020, using bibliometric methods. We evaluated the publication tendency of TNBC and the contributions of different countries. Institutions and journals with the highest number of TNBC publications were screened. Finally, the research focus of the TNBC publications were also analyzed.Results: TNBC publications have significantly increased in the past 20 years, with elevated relative research interest (RRI). The USA has the most TNBC-related publications with high quality, and China is the country with the most rapid growth tendency in TNBC publications. The University of Texas System is the institution with the most TNBC publications. Breast Cancer Research and Treatment is the journal that published the most TNBC-related publications. The top 30 publications with high citations are also listed. The researches focusing on TNBC in the past 20 years were separated into four main clusters: tumor biology, TNBC therapies, treatment sensitivity, and gene mutations. The research focus in TNBC ranked by appearing years reflects the development of TNBC treatment strategy, showing that targeting tumor immunity is now the main focus in TNBC research. Conclusions: Using bibliometric analysis, we initially revealed the increasing interest in TNBC research and summarized the publication tendency of TNBC. We also reported focused topics screened from publications in the past 20 years, indicating the main problems and research objectives of TNBC for the first time. Immune-related topics are becoming the focus of TNBC research.

By the year 2050, the world population is estimated to reach 9.1 billion, which in-turn will increase demand for food production by 70% in developing countries. To fulfill the food security requirement over 1 billion population India need to produce an additional 5 million tons per year for the next 20 years to meet its food grain need of 300 million by 2020. Crop protection chemicals or pesticides are inherently toxic and therefore harmful for other non target organisms. The risk posed by these chemicals increased many-folds due to the fact that they do not stay at the intended target surface. Various mechanisms are involved in the movement of pesticides in different environmental components i.e., air, soil and water. Global literature survey showed that synthetic pesticides have potential risk to human and other life forms and unwanted side effects to the environment. In this paper, various studies are reviewed with the aim to understand the factors determining the occurrence of pesticides in far away places and disturbing ecological balance..

Objective. To identify and evaluate characteristics of the most influential articles in achalasia research during the period 1995-2020. Methods. Articles in Scopus, Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC), and PubMed were scanned from 1995 to 2020 with achalasia as the keyword. We retrieved the articles that met all criteria by descending order after using EndNote to remove the duplicated references. Our bibliometric analysis highlighted publication year, country, journals, and networks of keywords. Results. Fifteen percent of the top 100 most-cited articles were published in Annals of Surgery. They were performed in 15 countries, and most ( n = 55 ) were from the USA. The number of citations of the 482 articles ranged from 30 to 953, 38 of which had been published in American Journal of Gastroenterology. Those articles were from 31 countries, and most of the studies ( n = 217 ) had been performed in the USA. Most of articles ( n = 335 ) were clinical research. Treatments were hotspots in the field of achalasia in the past years. The most influential title words were “achalasia,” “esophagomyotomy,” “pneumatic dilation,” and “lower esophageal sphincter.” Conclusion. Our study offers a historical perspective on the progress of achalasia research and identified the most significant evolution in this field. Results showed treatment was the most influence aspect in achalasia.

AIM: To explore the global trends and focus of glaucoma research from 2009 to 2018. METHODS: Searching for glaucoma-related articles published in Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) database during 2009-2018, and describing the distribution of the published year, countries, authors, institutions, funding agencies, journals, impact factor, citation and hot research topic of articles by using bibliometric methods. Meanwhile, we compared some of these indicators over two five-year periods, from 2009 to 2013 and from 2014 to 2018. RESULTS: A total of 19 609 glaucoma-related articles were retrieved and the global SCIE articles have increased yearly from 2009 to 2018. The USA was the pioneer which has made great contributions. China kept the second place and the number of publications has increased rapidly between 2014 and 2018. The author with the highest number of publications was Weinreb, RN. Co-occurrence maps were built amongst the top 50 authors or the top 50 institutions with the most articles, which visualize the closer collaboration of international authors or institutions. The journal Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science has published the most papers. Glaucoma literature with an impact factor of 3-5 points accounted for the largest proportion (28.96%). The most frequently cited paper had 798 citations. The top three hot areas on glaucoma were intraocular pressure, optical coherence tomography (OCT) and retinal ganglion cells. And trabecular meshwork, primary angle-closure glaucoma and Spectral-domain OCT have become new hot research topics in recent five years during 2014-2018. CONCLUSION: Bibliometric analysis is an effective method to describe the global literature on glaucoma. In a 10-year literature survey from 2009 to 2018, global glaucoma research has developed in a balanced manner, and the cooperation between various institutions and teams has become closer. Glaucoma-related pathogenesis research, imaging examinations of OCT and surgery therapy have attracted most attention.

Background and Objective. Studies have concentrated on the surgical procedures for hip joint preservation for osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH). This study is aimed at presenting a bibliometric analysis of the relevant articles published from 1999 to 2019. Method. Articles which concentrated on surgical procedures for hip joint preservation for ONFH were searched using Web of Science database. The data were analyzed by using bibliometric analysis. Additionally, VOS viewer software was used for bibliographic coupling, coauthorship, cocitation, and cooccurrence analyses and to investigate the publication trends of the mentioned field. Results. A total of 3467 articles were included. China had the highest number of relevant published articles. However, the USA made the highest contributions to the global research with the highest citations and h -index. The journal of Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research published the highest number of relevant articles. Studies could be classified into four clusters: “process and clinical treatment,” “risk factors and diagnosis,” “pathophysiology,” and “basic research.” “Pathophysiology” and “basic research” clusters were predicted as the next hot topics of surgical procedures for hip joint preservation for ONFH. Conclusion. Based on the current global trends, the number of published articles related to surgical procedures for hip joint preservation for ONFH has increased. The USA was noted as the leading country in global research in the target field. “Pathophysiology” and “basic research” clusters may be the next hot spots, and scholars need to further concentrate on the target topic.
