The conceptual framework of this paper is to view Mongolia as a ‘contact zone’ which geographically bridged the gap between two rapidly growing Eurasian empires—Russia and China. It allows a rethinking of the historical and social circumstances that led to the formation of Chinese Pidgin Russian (cpr)1 by highlighting the lexical and grammatical influence of the Mongolian language on contact languages in the China–Russia border area. In particular, it discusses Mongolian language in various encounters in Russian–Chinese interactions, such as the use of Mongolian as mediation language during the initial stage of Qing–Russian diplomatic relations and aslingua francain caravan trade and border relations between Russia and China, as well as its influence on the formation of Transbaikal dialect (orZabaikal’skoe narechie), which was widely spoken by Russians in Mongol-speaking colonial frontiers of Russia in Eastern Siberia. Moreover, the paper highlights the Mongolian elements in the firstcpr, questioning a common scholarly perception that Kiakhta (or Maimacheng)2 pidgin consisted primarily of Russian and Chinese borrowings. Therefore, unique language hybridisation of these three languages continues to be noticeable in Russia–China trade hubs in Inner Mongolia nowadays, where transborder ethnic and economic contacts between Russia, China and Mongolia are becoming more complicated and diverse.

Quantitative Ethnography is a nascent field now formulating the specifics of its conceptual framework and terminology for a unified, quantitative – qualitative methodology. Our living, systematic review aims to shed light on decisions in research design that the community has made thus far in the domain of data collection, coding & segmentation, analysis, and how Quantitative Ethnography as a methodology is conceptualized. Our analysis intends to spur discussions on these issues within the community and help establish a lingua franca.

We have carried out three consecutive years of tree growth survey, and studied on afforestation technology, compatibility and high-yielding measures, we conducted two-factor effect analysis of different varieties and different density on seedling height and ground diameter in the annual introduction of fast-growing poplar. The results showed that the influence of different varieties of seedling height and ground diameter was extremely significant, and the influence of different density of seedling height and ground diameter was not significant basically. Based on the above results, it can be preliminarily determined the most suitable fast-growing poplar and planting density for Inner Mongolia Daxinganling Forest Region.

We consider Tsna region territory in the late of 14th – early 17th century from the point of view frontier theory. We made a conclusion that about Tsna region of the first quarter of the 17th century, one can speak about the inner frontier, that is, as existing on the contact zone, where permanent Russian settlements interspersed in places of residence of the local autochthony population. Based on the sources analysis we identify ethnic composition of the population of Tsna region. In this study we raise the interaction problem of different ethnic groups in the border area. The study deals with the gradual formation of a local intercultural society within the inner frontier of Tsna region at the turn of the 14th – 17th centuries.

The aim of this research is to examine sport sponsorship’s effectiveness over the internet. A conceptual framework for sponsorship evaluation over the internet was proposed, incorporating crucial factors such as supporters’ beliefs about sponsorship, their satisfaction form the sport event as well as their degree of sport involvement, the usage of website and social media, awareness of and attitude toward real sponsoring firms and their actual and future purchase intentions concerning sponsors’ goods and services. A quantitative method was used for the purpose of the current research and a total of 3434 questionnaires were successfully completed and analyzed. The empirical results indicated that sponsorship awareness impacts positively and significantly in both actual and intended purchase behavior of the respondents, suggesting that sponsorship awareness is the initial stage of a continuum of fans’ responses that can lead to their purchase intentions and actual purchase. Evidence on this study contributes to the ongoing debate about sponsorship effectiveness and its implication on customer behavior and provides significant implications for managers wishing to improve their future revenues by investing in sponsorship deals, since sponsorship awareness is an important feature that managers must control in order to affect their customers purchasing decisions.

Malaysia’s Mahathir Mohamad stands in a delicate position vis-à-vis China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The BRI’s Silk Road-like scenarios of transcontinental rail links to extend market-facilitated trade and investment have a place within a ‘Mahathirist imaginary’ that opposes inequities in a western-ruled global order and sees hope for the ‘rise of Asia’. In vision he shares the ‘Chinese Dream’ of resurrecting ancient land and maritime trade routes as an ‘imperative of globalization’ despite attempts by others to entangle the BRI in narratives of geopolitics long repugnant to his deep non-aligned convictions. His unprecedented resumption of premiership in May 2018 gave Mahathir a dream-like chance to engage with the BRI but he has been jolted by some Malaysian-China projects contracted in the name of the BRI by the Najib Razak-headed regime (2009–2018). Concerned that those projects could strain Malaysia’s debt burden and undermine its sovereignty Mahathir must balance his support for BRI with undoing some of its local manifestations without jeopardizing long-term Malaysia-China trade, investment and diplomatic relations.

In this paper, the complete process in which a concentric gravity wave (CGW), excited by a tropospheric thunderstorm, propagated into the stratosphere and mesosphere in Northern China is investigated. A strong thunderstorm developed in the middle of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region on the night of 10th August 2013. The stratospheric temperature perturbation, caused by the CGW, was observed by the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) at 02:11 LT 11th August 2013. An all-sky OH imager at the Shuozhou station (39.8° N, 112.1° E), supported by the Meridian Space Weather Monitoring Project, measured the mesospheric CGW between 22:00 LT to 23:00 LT on the night. It was certified that both the stratospheric and mesospheric CGWs were triggered by the aforementioned thunderstorm, and the excitation source was calculated to be located at (40.59° N, 108.67° E) by employing the dispersion relation. The CGWs were excited in the initial stage of the thunderstorm. The temperature and wind field data obtained by SABER and meteoric radar, respectively, were used to evaluate the background properties of the respective propagation regions. The result shows that an obvious thermal duct structure, with a positive squared vertical wavenumber (m2) existed around the OH layer.
