Two-dimension magnetic double layer hydroxide nanoparticles (Ca–Al/Fe LDH) were synthesized by the hydrothermal method. Here, we demonstrate a potential method for efficient chromium removal using Ca–Al/Fe LDH as the adsorbent in water treatment. It was found that Cr(VI) could be successfully eliminated using the Ca–Al/Fe LDH. The method achieved extremely fast removal of Cr(VI) from water with high adsorption capacities. As-prepared Ca–Al/Fe LDH had a high specific surface area and anti-agglomeration property, which contributed to preventing nanometer metal particles from conglomerating during the adsorption process. The recycling studies indicated that Ca–Al/Fe LDH exhibited intense chromium absorption in simulated high levels of pollution wastewater. This modified synthetic approach could extend the application of Ca–Al/Fe LDH for heavy metal control by enhancing their adsorption and desorption capacity in wastewater treatment. Furthermore, the modified synthetic method could be used to produce a suite of stabilized, non-toxic chemical magnetic nanoparticles, and could be used for industrial production.

The amount of sludge produced in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) has increased over the years, and the methods used to reduce this waste, such as incineration, agricultural use, or disposal in landfills, cause problems of secondary pollution. For this reason, it is necessary to find sustainable and low-cost solutions to manage this waste. Additionally, emerging and priority pollutants are attracting attention from the scientific community as they can generate health problems due to inadequate removal in conventional WWTPs. In this work, a pharmaceutical industry sludge was used as a precursor in the synthesis of four activated carbons (ACs) using different activating agents (ZnCl2, FeCl3∙6H2O, Fe(NO3)3∙9H2O, and Fe(SO4)3∙H2O), to be used for the removal by adsorption of three neonicotinoid pesticides included in latest EU Watch List (Decision 2018/840): acetamiprid (ACT), thiamethoxam (THM), and imidacloprid (IMD). The prepared ACs showed micro–mesoporous properties, obtaining relatively slow adsorption kinetics to reach equilibrium, but despite this, high values of adsorption capacity (qe) were obtained. For example, for AC-ZnCl2 (SBET = 558 m2/g), high adsorption capacities of qe = 128.9, 126.8, and 166.1 mg/g for ACT, THM, and IMD, respectively, were found. In most cases, the adsorption isotherms showed a multilayer profile, indicating an important contribution of the mesoporosity of the activated carbons in the adsorption process.

Steamed Hoof Powder (SHP), size < 53μ, was observed to have high adsorption capacity for Hg(II) with >95% removal from a solution containing 100 mg/L of Hg(II) with only 0.1% (W/V) concentration of SHP. The SHP has good settling properties and gives clear and odour free effluent. Studies indicate that pH values between 2 and 10 have no effect on the adsorption of Hg(II) on SHP. Light metal ions like Na+, K+, Ca2+ and Mg2+ up to concentrations of 500 mg/L and heavy metals like Cu2+, Zn2+, Cd2+, Co2+, Pb2+, Ni2+, Mn2+, Cr3+, Cr6+, Fe2+ and Fe3+ up to concentrations of 100 mg/L do not interfere with the adsorption process. Anions like sulphate, acetate and phosphate up to concentrations of 200 mg/L do not interfere. Chloride interferes in the adsorption process when Hg(II) concentration is above 9.7 mg/L. The adsorption equilibrium was established within two hours. Studies indicate that adsorption occurs on the surface sites of the adsorbent.

Diatomite was modified by microwave treatment to increase their utilization value, using modified diatomite to treat ammonia-nitrogen wastewater. The experiment indicated that adsorption process of modification of the modified time by microwaves and microwave power is the impact of ammonia adsorption of the main factors. Through modification experiments by raising the capacity of diatomite adsorption ammonia nitrogen, adsorption of ammonia nitrogen increase over one time. Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms were used to fit and the experimental results show that the modified diatomite adsorption onto ammonia nitrogen accords with Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm. The maximum theoretical adsorption capacities are 5.81083mg/g.

Equilibrium adsorption isotherm for the removal of trifluralin from aqueous solutions using ? –alumina clay has been studied. The result shows that the isotherms were S3 according Giels classification. The effects of various experimental parameters such as contact time, adsorbent dosage, effect of pH and temperature of trifluralin on the adsorption capacities have been investigated. The adsorption isotherms were obtained by obeying freundlich adsorption isotherm with (R2 = 0.91249-0.8149). The thermodynamic parameters have been calculated by using the adsorption process at five different temperature, the values of ?H, ?G and ?S were (_1.0625) kj. mol-1, (7.628 - 7.831) kj.mol-1 and (_2.7966 - _2.9162) kg. k-1. mol-1 respectively. The kinetic study of adsorption process has been studied depending on three kinetic equations: 1- Allergen equation 2- Morris –weber eguation 3- Reichenberg eguation. In general, the result shows the isotherm were on ?- alumina according to Giels classification.? –alumina and thermodynamic

In this study, two improved versions of UiO-66 were successfully synthesised. Modified UiO-66 and UiO-66-Ce were characterised to confirm the integrity of the structure, the stability of functional groups on the surface and the thermal stability. Activated samples were used for removal harmful anionic dye (methyl orange) (MO) from wastewater. Batch adsorption process was relied to investigate the competition between those MOFs for removing MO from aqueous solution. Based on the results, at a higher initial concentration, the maximum MO uptake was achieved by UiO-66-Ce which was better than modified-UiO-66. They adsorbed 71.5 and 62.5 mg g-1 respectively. Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms were employed to simulate the experimental data. In addition, Pseudo first order and Pseudo second order equations were used to describe the dynamic behaviour of MO through the adsorption process. The high adsorption capacities on these adsorbents can make them promised adsorbents in industrial areas.

In present study, uniformed nanozirconia is obtained via precipitation, ball milling and spray drying. The characteristics of methylene blue adsorption by nanozirconia are studied in details. The morphology of nanozirconia is examined by SEM. The influence of temperature is studied to obtain the optimal adsorption conditions. The equilibrium adsorption isotherms and the kinetic properties of the adsorption process are investigated to study the mechanism. The thermodynamic properties of methylene blue adsorption is investigated, and the thermodynamic parameters of Gθ, Hθ and Sθ are calculated. The results show nanozirconia has high adsorption ability of 43.99 mg/g to methylene blue, and the adsorption reaction is a spontaneous and physic-sorption process.
