The primary objective of this work was to study news items about libraries published in the different communications media of the Region of Extremadura (Spain) in recent years in order to see what impact and visibility libraries have had in those media. A secondary objective was to determine quantitatively whether the complex economic crisis the country has suffered was reflected in any decrease in the number of news items about libraries. For this, a total of 3206 news articles was collected. After their analysis in detail, they were reduced to the 490 which the study’s results address. This decrease by a factor of about seven in the final news items selected was because the title or the first few paragraphs of the news item did not exactly express its content. As a consequence, a qualitative analysis of the content was necessary. The conclusion reached was that the economic crisis suffered by Spain had indeed been reflected in an evolution undergone by news items about libraries in the media. Although the numbers of those items decreased in the period analysed (from 2007/2008 to 2012/2013) coinciding with the crisis, there was an upswing in 2013 compared with 2012 which may reflect the much hoped for ‘green shoots’ of recovery of the Spanish economy.

Television channels for children contain many cartoons and programs. These productions reach the viewers via both the television and the channel's official website. TRT Çocuk, broadcasting for children as a government television channel, presents many locally produced animated cartoons to the viewers. A product of the modern and digital technology, these locally produced cartoons carry importance in terms of transfer of social values. This study focuses on locally produced animation cartoons that have an important potential especially in the transfer of national and moral values. Determination of values conveyed via cartoons that bear importance in the transformation of television into an educational tool allows the media and child relationships to become visible. This work aims to examine the relationship between media and values by defining the concept of “value.” After creating a corporate frame, the study brings to light the social values conveyed in locally produced cartoons aired on TRT Çocuk television channel via qualitative analysis method.

This paper is the second part in the series of studies into the media impact on the transformation of the social and cultural structures in which societies operate. The authors (International Research Group KVAR) describe the results of a quantitative and qualitative analysis of transcripts of twenty-seven episodes of the “Vesti Nedeli” television program (Rossiya 1, 2018) depicting the mysterious poisoning of Sergei and Yulia Skripal. The aim of this study is to find out in what way the journalists of “Vesti Nedeli” narrate and interpret the events in Salisbury. Based on C. Booker‘ classification, the authors explore the specific traits of the story plot about the Skripals case. The analysis leads to the conclusion that it is not the Skripals who are at the center of the narration but the United Kingdom and its attitude to Russia. The study identifies the narrative force drivers and the main actors and their subject-object roles: this is one of seven basic plots.

AbstractThe repercussion within the social context of the documentary information process to which a news item is subject in a documentation service and its influence in decision-making, not always in accordance with known interests, provide the justification for this study, the aim of which is to expose the problems that are generated when retrieving a news item with regards to respecting the fundamental rights of the people appearing in the newscast. We examine the documentary analysis of the news item for its storage in the archive system and its subsequent retrieval, and the characteristics of daily operations, the main protagonist of the social and historical memory stored in the information unit in question, on the basis of the experience of professionals. Point of reference: the Regional Centre of Televisión Española in Murcia and the opinion of the professionals working on the news programmes. The media must apply rigorous principles to the images broadcasted in its news programmes, so as to ensure that no fundamental rights are jeopardized: any potentially caused damage is very difficult to amend. Documentation places the original news story in its context, acting as a witness. The proper preservation of image and text depends on their processing, subject to the social influence of the media. A lack of documentation impacts on the most basic principles of journalism: defending people’s rights and freedoms. The work of documentation professionals is essential for analysing and putting the news item in its context, establishing relationships of association and hierarchy and making specialist remarks. Documentary languages and thesauri are precise tools equipped with the appropriate comprehensiveness. Conclusion: when retrieving documentation from the archive, more mistakes are made than can initially be identified with regards to how social media operate. We must reflect on this reality, what we do, how such tasks are performed, and by whom, in order to establish whether freedoms and rights could in some way be jeopardised.Palabras claveTelevisión-Documentación; Imágenes inapropiadas-Documentación; Derechos fundamentales-documentación; Delitos- Documentación.KeywordsTelevision-Documentation; Inappropriate Images-Documentation; Fundamental Rights-Documentation; Crimes-Documentation.

The aim of this paper is to examine the Spanish economy, identify key areas for investment and assess the risks and opportunities associated with this. The article examines all aspects related to determining the degree of investment attractiveness of Spain, as well as the current state of the Spanish investment environment and the latest trends in the Spanish investment sector. Other objectives of this study include examining the Spanish economy, identifying key areas for investment and current trends in potential investment. An analysis of the threats and opportunities associated with investing in Spain was also conducted. Various resources have been used to provide reliable, up-to-date, in-depth, detailed and comprehensive analysis. First, the world’s leading databases, such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, UNCTAD, and so on. Second, data from Spanish government and financial institutions were taken into account. In order to study the problem from different angles, the media, scientific papers and journals were also involved in gathering the necessary information. The analysis allowed us to identify the most significant advantages of the Spanish economy as an object of investment, in particular: – highly developed service sectors, such as financial and insurance services, telecommunications, D&R, etc., which are constantly fueled by FDI inflows; – strategic location and opportunity to enter the EU market; – successful internal structural reforms have been implemented, which have led to increased labor flexibility; – favorable conditions for immigration (including labor immigration); – leading positions in terms of solvency and trust; – economic openness of the country and its participation in a large number of international trade agreements; – measures taken to weaken business and investment regulation; – non-interference of the state in business, fair competition and not perverted trade; – excellent infrastructure that stimulates economic growth; – one of the most innovative and efficient tax agencies – AEAT; – absence of other significant socio-economic, legal and criminal risks that hinder investment. Although Spain faces high unemployment, the current economic crisis caused by the Crown virus, and huge public debt, most of them can be turned into the benefits of foreign investment projects. Similarly, to overcome the economic crisis, the country needs an influx of money from outside, so now the conditions for foreign investors are even more favorable

Professional athletes are increasingly engaged in social impact efforts via charitable endeavors. Despite seemingly good intentions in these efforts, the media’s representation of athlete philanthropy varies widely. This study examines how discourses of athlete charity are represented in U.S. media coverage. Over 100 newspaper articles were obtained for the period of 2005–2017. The authors conducted a qualitative analysis which consisted of attribute coding for basic article characteristics, identification of both framing and reasoning devices, and deductive coding to identify generic media frames. The authors present an adapted frame matrix highlighting the salient frames in media coverage of athlete philanthropy. Our results show that athlete charitable efforts are related to a personal or emotional connection or linked to an economic perspective around philanthropy. A third frame reflected a moral underpinning to athletes’ charitable work. The authors discuss managerial implications for teams and leagues that provide support for athletes’ charitable work, as well as for the athletes themselves.

Using spatialization approach in the study of the political economy media, this article aims to describe how Nickelodeon, maintains its product dominance to face that condition. From descriptive qualitative analysis conducted on the news in the mass media and the national company website, found the tendency of localizing strategic alliance both with national companies in the media and non-media industries. Meanwhile, cooperation with non-media companies (Telkomsel and Campina) creates a corporate community base that supports the marketing of Nickelodeon products. The implications of Nickelodeon's collaboration with Telkomsel in the creation of mobile applications are discussed in this article as the social impact of spatialization practices resulting in imbalance of accessing information.

This study presents how motion pictures illustrate a person with cerebral palsy (CP), the social impact from the media, and the possibility of cerebral palsy education by using motion pictures. 937 motion pictures were reviewed in this study. With the criteria of nondocumentary movies, possibility of disability classification, and availability, the total number of motion pictures about CP was reduced to 34. The geographical distribution of movie number ever produced is as follows: North America 12, Europe 11, India 2, East Asia 6, and Australia 3. The CP incidences of different motor types in real world and in movies, respectively, are 78–86%, 65% (Spastic); 1.5–6%, 9% (Dyskinetic); 6.5–9%, 26% (Mixed); 3%, 0% (Ataxic); 3-4%, 0% (Hypotonic). The CP incidences of different Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) levels in real world and in movies, respectively, are 40–51%, 47% (Level I + II); 14–19%, 12% (Level III); 34–41%, 41% (Level IV + V). Comparisons of incidence between the real world and the movies are surprisingly matching. Motion pictures honestly reflect the general public’s point of view to CP patients in our real world. With precise selection and medical professional explanations, motion pictures can play the suitable role making CP understood more clearly.
