Testing oneself with flash cards, using a clicker to respond to a teacher’s questions, and teaching another student are all effective ways to learn information. These learning strategies work, in part, because they require the retrieval of information from memory, a process known to enhance later memory. However, little research has directly examined retrieval-based learning in children. We review the emerging literature on the benefits of retrieval-based learning for preschool and elementary school students and draw on other literatures for further insights. We reveal clear evidence for the benefits of retrieval-based learning in children (starting in infancy). However, we know little about the developmental trajectory. Overall, the benefits are largest when the initial retrieval practice is effortful but successful.

This study aims to describe the reading interest of elementary school students 01 and the factors that influence the reading interest of elementary school 01. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were elementary school students 01. Data collection was carried out using the methods of observation, interviews, and documentation. Interest in reading elementary school students is still low. Based on the results of the study concluded that: reading interest of elementary school students 01 is still low. Judging from the level of student visits to the library that are rarely done. Students prefer to be in class, tell stories with friends, compared to reading books to the library. The low reading interest of students is due to students lacking feelings, attention to books and the benefits of reading, as well as motivation from themselves and from others (the environment). The factors that influence students' mint reading are factors: internal factors (feelings, attention and motivation). The steps taken are by giving motivation, continuous attention to elementary school students 01 and attention to increase reading interest. Factors that influence reading interest from outside consist of the role of teacher, environment, family and facilities. A teacher should use the theory or component of learning strategies as a learning principle so that the learning process can be accepted by students well and more easily. The existence of a library in the school, where the library is a learning resource that is expected to foster interest in reading for students, then it should be managed well, for example a more attractive library design and provide many picture books that can improve the student's motor skills.

AbstractThe involvement of elementary school students in the learning process still faces various problems. One of them is because the teacher still tends to be the center or the main actor. This classroom action research aims to improve learning outcomes and students' self-confidence in the thematic learning of energy materials through the application of problem-based learning strategies. The participants of this study were 17 elementary school students consisting of 6 boys and 11 girls. This classroom action research was carried out in two learning cycles. The data collection techniques used were observation and tests, where the data obtained were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of this study indicate that problem-based learning can improve student learning outcomes in terms of energy, self-confidence and activeness in the learning process.

This study in the background backs low student motivation, especially elementary school mathematics subject matter. Mathematics courses is one of the lessons learned from the primary school level. Even informally parents have taught mathematics to the toddler through the tools of play. Elementary students have thought of mathematics courses is subject scary and considered difficult. Mathematics courses are eye pelajarana considered difficult for students, student motivation to learn a low, monotonous learning process, uninteresting and boring for students. Students in participating in math do not wholeheartedly and only keterpaksaaan alone. Conditions like these that lead to low mathematics achievement. One of the characteristics of mathematics is to have an abstract object and became one of the difficulties faced by both teachers to teach and students in understanding it. Teachers as educators should be aware that elementary school students still think concretely. This causes the teacher should try to reduce the abstract nature of mathematical objects so as to facilitate the students understand the subject matter, but still directed towards the achievement of learning abstract thinking ability of students. Elementary school students still think concretely, it is easy to understand if it can be detected by the senses. Learning strategies should be able to maximize all potential, every student has the same right to succeed. All the elements that underpin the success of learning should be mixed into an accumulation that really create a learning atmosphere. Some of the techniques used is to give positive suggestions with seats the students are comfortable, put background music in the classroom, increasing the participation of individuals, using posters to give a great impression while highlight information (DePorter, 2005: 14). Thus we can conclude quantum mathematics learning strategy learning can increase students' motivation.

This study aims to describe the difficulties of elementary school students in writing poetry and to describe the factors of the difficulties of elementary school students in writing poetry. This study describes descriptively the difficulties of students in writing poetry. The method of data collection in the core research is carried out by means of a literature study method that has been studied and analyzed by the researchers themselves. The results obtained from this study are that students have difficulty determining the title/idea or theme in writing poetry, students have difficulty making rhythmic words, students have difficulty making imaginative sentences, students have difficulty making diction words or sentences. Meanwhile, the factors that make it difficult for students to write poetry are external factors, namely the teacher has not used innovative learning strategies, approaches, models and methods, and, the teacher has not used innovative learning media.

Students have Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) which can motivate themselves to arrange personal goals, plan strategies done to achieve the goal, until to evaluate the behaviors. Besides that, students can be more responsible to themselves so that the learning independence of students can be formed. This research aimed to investigate the level of SRL and learning independence of elementary school students, and to investigate the influence of SRL towards the learning independence of elementary school students. This research used a quantitative approach with the comparative research design. The population in this research was 387 students with the sample used was 194 students taken randomly using Slovin’s formula. The instrument used in this research consisted of 24 questions by using 4-point Likert Scale. The data collection technique was used by comparing SRL of students. The data analysis was conducted by SPSS version 24. The finding of the research showed that SLR and learning independence of elementary school students was on the category medium and has a tcount of 8,516. In addition, the F-test result obtained was 240, 783. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between SRL and the learning independence of elementary school students. The futher reasearch must be based on previous studies. The influence of SRL on student independence and the factors that influence needed to described more comperhensive.
