Ships are subject to inspections from different maritime stakeholders, such as port states, classification societies, shipowners, managers and operators. Each one implements their own inspection content depending on their role in the construction and operation phase of the vessel life cycle. Because few studies have investigated the influence of ship inspections on accidents, it is uncertain to which extent the current inspection regimes are contributing to reducing accidents. In addition, maritime risk analysis has, so far, not considered thoroughly the role of the inspection process in accident development. As a result, an improved understanding of the influence inspection methods would facilitate the implementation of effective measures for reducing accident probabilities or consequences. The approach used in this article involves identifying the underlying causes and the resulting consequences of accidents that may be associated with inspection issues and combining this knowledge in bow-tie representations. The developed bow-tie diagrams provide useful insights into the role of insufficient inspection practices in the development of maritime accidents and the severity of the resulting consequences. Furthermore, the developed diagrams may be used for investigating the risk from inspection issues by producing generic accident scenarios with every possible combination of the different parameters that describe all the possible pathways, from causes to consequences. Although this is a qualitative approach, it provides valuable insights into safety concerns that result from inspection practices and may also be used as a basis for further quantitative risk analysis.

Purpose. According to the SONATRACH groups requirements, a hazard study should be carried out conforming to Law 45/DG in order to manage risk situations better and to ensure maximum operational safety. Methodology. The work presents modeling of accident scenarios through the ALOHA software. The identification and characterization of potential hazards of the facilities are carried out by the XRISK software while using the preliminary risk analysis method (PRA) and the bow tie method (in a horizontal plane). Finding. An assessment of the socio-economic impact in the event of an accident in the hydrocarbon industry is given as well as recommendations to avoid unforeseen consequences. Originality. For the first time at SONATRACH, the LOPA software has been used to model accident scenarios in the hydrocarbon industry. The latter refers to high-risk industries where every activity, whether industrial or commercial, is subject to incidents or serious situations that could seriously disrupt the operation of the organization, or even damage or destroy it. Practical value. Sensitive elements have been identified, which respectively include the station staff, the DSP agents on duty (digital signal processing), the subcontractors, i.e. a permanent population of 30 people on average. The occurrence of the potential major accidents identified in the risk analysis would cause the gas compression to stop at Rhourde Nouss station. Thus, there is a pressure drop at the level of the gas pipelines, which reduces the gas flow significantly, while its extent and duration will depend on the restarting of the station. Furthermore, the effects of damage to the equipment concerned could result in a significant cost for their replacement within a reasonable time.

In construction production, the safety of constructing buildings and structures is achieved by ensuring the required quality as a result of systematic construction control based on the implementation of a complex of technical, economic and organizational measures at all stages of the object's life cycle. The article deals with the actual problem of improving the quality of construction products-buildings and structures in conjunction with the activities of construction control bodies. The article presents the advanced foreign and domestic experience of ensuring the quality control at the construction sites, providing for the prevention of the underlying causes of defects and increasing the interest of the contractors directly. On the basis of the analysis of the current situation with quality control at the construction market, ways to improve its efficiency by developing a unified system of technological implementation of relevant requirements for the quality of construction products, determining the rational number and business load of construction control engineers, as well as the active activities of self-regulatory organizations in this area are offered.

An emerging global trend of brands advertising their products through LGBTIQ+ individuals and couples indicates growth of gender awareness across the globe. The media, through advertising, deconstructs homophobia and associated cultures through the use of LGBTIQ+s in commercials. This qualitative research paper centres the advancement of debates on human rights and social media as critical in the interaction between corporates and consumers. The Gillette, Chicken Licken‘s Soul Sisters and We the Brave advertisements were used to critically analyse how audiences react to the use of LGBTIQ+ characters and casts through comments posted on the brands‘ social media platforms. Further, the paper explored the role of social media in the mediation of significant gender issues such as homosexuality that are considered taboo to engage in. The paper used a qualitative approach. Using the digital ethnography method to observe comments and interactions from the chosen advertisement‘s online platforms, the paper employed queer and constructionist theories to deconstruct discourses around same-sex relations as used in commercials, especially in quasiconservative. The data used in the paper included thirty comments of the brands customers and audiences obtained from Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. The paper concludes there are positive development in human rights awareness as seen through advertisements and campaigns that use LGBTIQ+ communities in a positive light across the world.

The contribution of accidental discharges to the total emission of contaminating substances in surface waters is relatively increasing, as regular discharges are reduced. In The Netherlands a program has been started to develop a quantitative risk analysis method to be used within the discharge permitting process. The methodology takes into account the type of activities and related accident scenarios in terms of failure frequencies and source sizes, correction factors according to specific circumstances, as well as the nature of the receiving system (types of surface waters, but also public sewage water treatment plants). The methodology will provide an indication of the risk reduction needed in terms of reducing the frequency and/or the volume of possible spills. The method itself, the use of it within the legal framework and the relation with the EC-Directives are discussed.
