The study aims at identifying and highlighting dental anxiety in a group of young adults, analyzing patients� concerns about the main dental treatment procedures, and establishing statistical relationships between anxiety and gender, the background, level of education, socio-economic status and knowledge of habits of care and hygiene of oral cavity characteristic of the studied group. The study group consists of 150 female (50%) and male (50%) patients , aged between 20 and 40 years. The inclusion criteria in the batch were those related to the age range of 20 to 40 years.Two respondents (Corah�s Dental Anxiety Scale, Revised (DAS-R)) were given two questionnaires ( Corah�s Dental Anxiety Scale, DAS-R), and the second questionnaire contained 7 questions about the habits dental care). Most patients� concerns about the main procedures of dental treatment / other concerns are: dental extraction, material expenses, possibility of treatments and shame she felt oppressed health of the oral cavity. Regardless of the level of dental anxiety, the oral cavity hygiene habits are not properly performed by patients, with an increased tendency for them to be disregarded by patients with severe dental anxiety.

Based on the application of the conditional mean rule, a sampling-recovery algorithm is studied for a Gaussian two-dimensional process. The components of such a process are the input and output processes of an arbitrary linear system, which are characterized by their statistical relationships. Realizations are sampled in both processes, and the number and location of samples in the general case are arbitrary for each component. As a result, general expressions are found that determine the optimal structure of the recovery devices, as well as evaluate the quality of recovery of each component of the two-dimensional process. The main feature of the obtained algorithm is that the realizations of both components or one of them is recovered based on two sets of samples related to the input and output processes. This means that the recovery involves not only its own samples of the restored realization, but also the samples of the realization of another component, statistically related to the first one. This type of general algorithm is characterized by a significantly improved recovery quality, as evidenced by the results of six non-trivial examples with different versions of the algorithms. The research method used and the proposed general algorithm for the reconstruction of multidimensional Gaussian processes have not been discussed in the literature.

In this article, we explore the relationship between cellular phone data and housing prices in Budapest, Hungary. We determine mobility indicators from one months of Call Detail Records (CDR) data, while the property price data are used to characterize the socioeconomic status at the Capital of Hungary. First, we validated the proposed methodology by comparing the Home and Work locations estimation and the commuting patterns derived from the cellular network dataset with reports of the national mini census. We investigated the statistical relationships between mobile phone indicators, such as Radius of Gyration, the distance between Home and Work locations or the Entropy of visited cells, and measures of economic status based on housing prices. Our findings show that the mobility correlates significantly with the socioeconomic status. We performed Principal Component Analysis (PCA) on combined vectors of mobility indicators in order to characterize the dependence of mobility habits on socioeconomic status. The results of the PCA investigation showed remarkable correlation of housing prices and mobility customs.

Uncertainties inherent in gate-opening speeds are rarely studied in dam-break flow experiments due to the laborious experimental procedures required. For the stochastic analysis of these mechanisms, this study involved 290 flow tests performed in a dam-break flume via varying gate speeds between 0.20 and 2.50 m/s; four pressure sensors embedded in the flume bed recorded high-frequency bottom pressures. The obtained data were processed to determine the statistical relationships between gate speed and maximum pressure. The correlations between them were found to be particularly significant at the sensors nearest to the gate (Ch1) and farthest from the gate (Ch4), with a Pearson’s coefficient r of 0.671 and −0.524, respectively. The interquartile range (IQR) suggests that the statistical variability of maximum pressure is the largest at Ch1 and smallest at Ch4. When the gate is opened faster, a higher pressure with greater uncertainty occurs near the gate. However, both the pressure magnitude and the uncertainty decrease as the dam-break flow propagates downstream. The maximum pressure appears within long-period surge-pressure phases; however, instances considered as statistical outliers appear within short and impulsive pressure phases. A few unique phenomena, which could cause significant bottom pressure variability, were also identified through visual analyses using high-speed camera images. For example, an explosive water jet increases the vertical acceleration immediately after the gate is lifted, thereby retarding dam-break flow propagation. Owing to the existence of sidewalls, two edge waves were generated, which behaved similarly to ship wakes, causing a strong horizontal mixture of the water flow.

Abstract Objectives Genetic variations of LGALS3 (Galectin-3) were found to be associated with treatment resistance, mortality, recurrence, high tumor volume and multiple tumor involvement in solid organ cancers. The modulators of extracellular matrix (ECM), which is a dynamic factor in the larynx tissue with high biomechanical and regenerating ability, can play an important role. We aimed to investigate the relationship between the genetic variants of LGALS3, one of these modulators, with Laryngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (LSCC). Methods LGALS3 gene variations were genotyped by PCR-RFLP method using genomic DNA samples obtained from peripheral blood samples of 74 patients diagnosed with LSCC and 94 healthy controls. Results The C allele carriage for the Rs4652 genetic variant was found to be higher (p=0.017) in patients with LSCC. Statistical relationships were found between homozygous genotypes of this variant (CC/AA) with advanced tumor stage (p=0.017) and presence of reflux (p=0.036). CC genotype for rs4644 was found to be higher in cases with positive family history (p=0.036). Conclusions Our findings of LGALS3 gene variants, which are also found to be associated with other solid cancers, suggest that they may play a role in LSCC pathophysiology similarly.

AbstractPermafrost is known to occur in high mountainous areas such as the Daisetsu Mountains in Japan, which are located at the southernmost limit of the permafrost distribution in the world. In this study, areas with climatic conditions suitable for sustaining permafrost in the Daisetsu Mountains are projected using bias-corrected and downscaled climate model outputs and statistical relationships between surface air temperatures and permafrost areas. Using freezing and thawing indices, the size of the area in the Daisetsu Mountains where climatic conditions were suitable for permafrost were estimated to be approximately 150 km2 in 2010. Under the RCP8.5 scenario, this area is projected to decrease to about 30 km2 by 2050 and it is projected to disappear by around 2070. Under the RCP2.6 scenario, the area is projected to decrease to approximately 20 km2 by 2100. The degradation of mountain permafrost could potentially affect the stability of trekking trails due to slope displacement, and it may also have deleterious effects on current alpine ecosystems. It is therefore important to accurately monitor changes in the mountain ecosystem environment and to implement measures to adapt to an environment that is projected to change significantly in the future.

The article provides the analysis of the relationship between the rule-making activity of Russia’s state authorities: parliament, president, government and federal executive bodies. The analysis of Granger causality, carried out for statistical series of federal authorities rulemaking activity, indicates that the level of laws specification largely determines the level of by-laws specification (government decrees and orders of federal executive bodies), thereby exerting a significant impact on entire Russian regulatory framework volume. Econometric analysis based on a corpus of federal laws and aggregated corpus of regulations shows that the entire rule-making activity of the Russian parliament and federal authorities is explained by overlapping sets of factors. The findings indicate that to consolidate the effect of the “regulatory guillotine” it may be useful to develop mechanisms (procedural rules) that correct the balance between the pace and quality of developing legislative initiatives.
