Impact of Edutainment Programme in Developing Life Skills with Specific Reference to Critical and Creative Thinking among Adolescent Students of Chattisgarh State

This study examined the influence of teaching methods, relevance, and effect of edutainment on the development of life skills. Using an Experimental research paradigm, the study compared the F values of Pre-test and Post-test of both Control and Experimental groups to know the influence of different variables on each other. The study was conducted in rural and urban areas of Bastar district, Chattisgarh demonstrated that the means of edutainment used such as brainstorming sessions, games, screening of Hindi movie „Siddharth‟, and group discussions to convey subject matters like Human Rights, especially Rights of Children, were successful in developing both positive and creative thinking in them. The level of achievement using edutainment was more among Government school students, both in rural and urban areas.

An attempt was made in the present investigation to study the impact of gender and locality and type of management on self condence among high school students. The present study consists of 400 students studying in government and private high schools in rural and urban areas in Kadapa District of Andhra Pradesh State. The subjects were in the age group of 14-17 years and using purposive random sampling method. Self-condence Inventory developed by Basavanna (1975) was used to collect the data. A 2×2×2 factorial design was employed and ANOVA was used to analyse the data. Findings of the study revealed that gender, type of management and locality have signicant impact on self condence among high school students.

Sports has the potential to integrate with different scientific subjects, including materials science and engineering, making it an ideal approach to enhance the students’ affinity toward sustainable education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Amid gradual educational reformations in the state of Qatar, a distinctive STEM program titled, “Science in Sports” (SIS) was launched to investigate STEM integrated learning in secondary school students. The participant students, 248 students (112 females and 136 males) from 15 different government-operated (public) secondary schools, from rural and urban areas, were given STEM workshops on one of the sports materials, during this pilot study, resultantly challenging them to engineer a sports product. The study employed a mixed-method study in which quantitative approaches were applied to analyze the program effectiveness, with a t-test statistical analysis performed over data collected from a period of five continuous years from 2012 to 2017 in five different cycles. A more dominant data collection included pre and post surveys, substantiating observations of the program facilitator and their schoolteachers were included in this research and development (R&D) study to review the student learning behavior for a qualitative approach. Moreover, the results of the strength, weakness, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis provided an overview of the program’s effectiveness in implicating the engagement of the students in exhibiting their prototypical skills in engineering sports products along with STEM literacy. Apart from understanding the scientific concepts/principles applied in simple sports applications, student attitudes toward STEM fields augmented, as witnessed by the student productivity.

Berbagai upaya dilakukan mencegah meluasnya penularan Covid-19 termasuk vaksinasi. Salah satu upaya yang dipilih berupa penyuluhan melalui media video yang disebar melalui WhatsApp tanpa harus melakukan kunjungan kepada sasaran keluarga selama masa pandemi. Video berisi materi fakta-mitos seputar Covid-19, pengertian-penyebab-penularan Covid-19, pencegahan penularan dengan 3-M dan vaksinasi Covid-19. Penyuluhan dikemas dalam Google form yang diawali pertanyaan pretes, kemudian video untuk dilihat dan diakhiri pertanyaan postes. Google form disebar melalui WhatsApp pada gawai anggota keluarga, namun beberapa keluarga melihat di gawai tetangganya. Penyuluhan diharapkan meningkatkan cakupan sasaran penyuluhan, meningkatkan pengetahuan sasaran serta mendorong praktek 3-M dan vaksinasi. Kegiatan dilakukan dosen dan mahasiswa dalam mata kuliah Pengalaman Belajar Lapangan. Mitra pelaksana adalah lima orang ketua Rukun Tetangga dan 228 keluarga di lokasi perdesaan dan perkotaan. Terjadi peningkatan signifikan (p 0,000) pengetahuan Covid-19 secara keseluruhan maupun di setiap pertanyaan. Tidak ada perbedaan signifikan perubahan pengetahuan menurut jenis kelamin, tingkat pendidikan maupun menurut tempat tinggal perdesaan maupun perkotaan. Metode penyuluhan melalui penyebaran Google form berisi video penyuluhan yang disebar melalui WhatsApp, diharapkan memperluas cakupan sasaran penyuluhan, meningkatkan pengetahuan, mendorong praktek 3-M serta vaksinasi Covid-19.---Various efforts were made to prevent the spread of Covid-19, including vaccinations. One of the efforts chosen was in the form of extension through video media distributed via WhatsApp without having to visit target families during the pandemic period. The video contains material on the facts or myths about Covid-19, definition, causes and transmission of Covid-19, prevention of transmission with 3-M and Covid-19 vaccination. Extension is packaged in a Google form which begins with a pretest question, then a video to be seen and ends with a post-test question. Google forms are spread via WhatsApp on the devices of family members, but some families see them on neighboring devices. Extension is expected to increase the coverage of extension targets, increase target knowledge and encourage 3-M practice and vaccination. Activities carried out by lecturers and students in the Field Learning Experience course. The implementing partners are five heads of Neighborhood Associations and 228 families in rural and urban locations. There was a significant increase (p 0,000) knowledge of Covid-19 as a whole and in each question. There is no significant difference in knowledge change according to gender, level of education and according to residence in rural and urban areas. The method of extension through the distribution of a Google form containing educational videos distributed through WhatsApp is expected to expand the coverage of extension targets, increase knowledge and encourage 3-M practice and Covid-19 vaccination.

Abstract:Student errors in solving Mathematical problems are often found by writers in rural schools, and it possibly happened in schools in the city too. This article tries to analyze the mistakes of high school students in rural and urban areas in solving math problems. This research is qualitative with a research location in two schools, each as an interpretation of schools in rural and urban areas. The results found that students in a rural and urban school in principle there an error in solving problems. High school students in urban areas tend to make procedural errors while rural high school students in addition to making procedural errors also tend to make computational skills mistakes. Abstrak:Kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal Matematika sering penulis temukan pada sekolah di pedasaan, namun demikian tidak menutup kemungkinan juga terjadi pada sekolah di perkotaan. Artikel ini mencoba menganalisis kesalahan siswa SMA di Pedesaan dan Perkotaan dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan loaksi penelitian di dua sekolah yang masing-masing sebagai interpretasi sekolah yang berada di pedesaan dan perkotaan. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa siswa yang bersekolah di pedesaan maupun perkotaan pada prinsipnya ditemukan adanya kesalahan dalam menyelesaikan soal. Siswa SMA di perkotaan cenderung untuk melakukan kesalahan prosedur sedangkan siswa SMA di pedesaan selain melakukan kesalahan prosedur juga cenderung melakukan kesalahan keterampilan komputasi.
