Purpose The development of innovative procurement instruments can be costly and risky. To capitalize on successful innovative instruments, it is essential that these are reused. However, reuse can be problematic in project-based public client organizations. This paper aims to apply the ambidexterity concept of integration mechanisms to examine how such reuse can be facilitated. Design/methodology/approach An initial framework is developed to conceptualize and contextualize the ambidexterity integration mechanism for the procurement function of a multi-project public client. Concluding that, in this situation, an organizational procedure is an appropriate interpretation of the integration mechanism, a design science project is carried out to develop and implement a procedure in a real-life setting. Findings Reconstructed reuse patterns confirm the need to have an actionable integration mechanism implemented. Integration, in the sense of drawing benefits from successful one-off innovative procurement instruments, may fail unnoticed if not organized and deliberately managed. The procedure developed in the design science project demonstrates how such integration can be achieved. Originality/value Although research on ambidexterity has grown exponentially in the past decade, it is yet to be applied in the field of public procurement. Furthermore, the application of design science research is novel in this field of literature. The paper illustrates how both can help solve a relevant organizational problem.

This study assessed the efficiency of and teacher satisfaction with curriculum-based measurement (CBM) when student performance data are collected by teachers or by computers. Participants were 20 special education teachers, randomly assigned to teacher and computer administration groups. Each practitioner selected two mildly handicapped pupils for participation. For 15 weeks, teachers employed CBM in reading, spelling, and math, with data collected by teachers or by computers. Ten weeks into the study, teachers and students were observed during measurement and evaluation activities, and durations of time allocated to CBM procedures were recorded. Teacher satisfaction was indexed with a questionnaire at the study's completion. Observational data indicated that teachers spent less time in measurement and evaluation when data were collected by computers; further, satisfaction data revealed that computer-data-collection teachers were more satisfied with the procedures. However, students spent more time in measurement with computer data collection. Implications for special education practice are discussed.

The article reveals the complexity of the pedagogical interaction between a teacher and a student and its multi-sensibility. The explanation of pedagogical interaction requires deep scientific-philosophical and practical-constructivist perception of reality. It has been indicated that pedagogical interaction can be based on two cultures: one of them explains reality on the basis of the understanding that occurred in the past, another one explains it with the principles characteristic to the culture of a contemporary teacher. The interaction between pedagogical myths and mythologemes has been revealed. It has been described how these constructs function in pedagogical reality. Mythologized thinking has been analysed in parallel with scientific thinking. It has been explained how a scientific idea in pedagogical practice turns into a myth because not always the diversity of the contexts of culture is taken into account and there is a lack of understanding to which educational culture a scientific idea is appealing. The essence of scientific and empirical reasoning has been defined, their similarities, differences, features of expression in the diversity of the paradigms of modern education have been revealed. It has been indicated that when a scientific statement in pedagogical reality is accepted without a certain paradigmatic context that actualizes it, in this case a scientific idea loses its efficiency and does not influence the context of pedagogical interaction.
