In early 2020, school closures were implemented globally to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. In South Africa, emergency remote teaching was not sustainable, and conventional teaching resumed in the context of the second and third waves of the pandemic, heightening fear and anxiety about infection among teachers. The pandemic necessitated shifts in the scope of a teacher’s job, potentially impacting their professional identity and job satisfaction. This study investigated the interrelationship between teaching identification, teaching satisfaction, fear of COVID-19 and perceived vulnerability to disease among a sample of South African school teachers (n = 355). A serial mediation analysis supported the hypotheses that teaching identification mediated both the relationship between fear of COVID-19 and teacher satisfaction and the association between perceived vulnerability to disease, fear of COVID-19 and teacher satisfaction. The findings suggest that teacher identification is a potential protective factor, and strengthening professional identification can potentially assist teachers as they negotiate the uncertainty and stress associated with the current pandemic.

How teachers perform and react to the world-wide pandemic and how the epidemic affects an education system may also be used as new conditions to consider the way to enhance SDG4 in developing countries. Regarding that concern, this study investigated 294 teachers’ perspective on their teaching effectiveness and satisfaction during COVID-19. The findings underlined the significant roles of support from various stakeholders, school readiness toward digital transformation, and teachers’ anxiety over teacher satisfaction. Notably, teachers’ newly absorbed technological and pedagogical skills do elevate their teaching effectiveness but do not lead to higher satisfaction during the pandemic.

This study examined the factors that may promote student-teachers’ satisfaction with online collaborative learning (OCL). Eighty-four student teachers at the graduate level at three teacher-education colleges in Israel simultaneously completed questionnaires that examined their information and communication technology (ICT) skills, collaboration experience and personality traits. The findings reveal that ICT level, positive experiences with collaborative learning and openness contributed significantly to satisfaction with the collaborative project and accounted for 63% of the variance. Personal traits were found to be mediated by ICT level, and ICT level was in turn mediated by collaborative experience. The results demonstrate the importance of ICT level as a prerequisite for these courses and the significance of preparing the groups and structuring the activities to achieve positive collaborative experiences. Implications for practice or policy: University stakeholders may build OCL courses in collaboration with other universities. University staff can determine how personality issues and ICT level affect students’ success in OCL courses. Policymakers can better understand the preparation necessary to develop OCL courses. This case can help educators improve their collaborative programs.

A total of 350 public primary school teachers in Surakarta had been selected as respondents in this study with satisfied random sampling. AMOS software version 6.0 is used to analyze CFA and SEM. The results of SEM analysis to the structural model built by the researcher was good, with Probability = .001; RMSEA = .043; GFI = .941; AGFI = .907; CMIN/DF = 1.522), so the relationship between the variables in the constructs was interpreted; (1) The Principal instructional leadership behavior had a significant direct influence on the school health, (2) The school health parameter had a significant direct influence on organizational commitment, efficacy, and teacher satisfaction, (3) The principal instructional leadership behavior did not have a significant direct effect on organizational commitment, efficacy, and teacher satisfaction through the variables and school health.</p>
