Large eddy simulation (LES) was made to solve the flow around two simplified CRH2 high speed trains passing by each other at the same speed base on the finite volume method and dynamic layering mesh method and three dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. Wind tunnel experimental method of resting train with relative flowing air and dynamic mesh method of moving train were compared. The results of numerical simulation show that the flow field structure around train is completely different between wind tunnel experiment and factual running. Two opposite moving couple of point source and point sink constitute the whole flow field structure during the high speed trains passing by each other. All of streamlines originate from point source (nose) and finish with the closer point sink (tail). The flow field structure around train is similar with different vehicle speed.

The aerostatic circular thrust bearing was taken as a study subject. The numerical simulation method was used to calculate the flow passage. Meanwhile, the single-point testing method was used to test the pressure distribution. The simulation and experiment measurement results were compared and analyzed. The results show that: The single-point testing method is effective to capture the change of flow characteristics. The overall results of simulation and testing coincide with each other well. In the range of cone cavity, the flow pattern for the gas is turbulent flow, and the flow field should be divided into different zones for simulation.

The dynamics force of iced-conductor is the driving force of galloping; its variation is depended on the aerodynamic character of iced conductor. The aerodynamic character of iced conductor is the key factor of galloping of iced-conductor, but the result of theoretically analysis and numerical simulation isn’t suited for the requirement of transmission line project. In the paper, basing on the theoretically analysis and numerical simulation, the simulation tests in wind tunnel of D-shaped iced conductor is stetted up and put into practice under different wind speed and iced thickness, and then the systemic study is carried into execution. The result of research is indicated that there is a better coherence between the numerical simulation and experiment test, and the variation rules of parameters is obvious with the different iced thickness, the result of numerical simulation is the beneficial supplement to the experiment test. The result can not only provide the original date for the galloping analysis, but also validate the affectivity of numerical simulation, support the research of mechanism and control of galloping.

Based on a convergent nozzle and a conical nozzle, the simulation of the free jet of assemble nozzles by adopting a three-dimensional axial symmetrical model is presented in the paper. The study reveals the effect of cone angle of conical nozzle and the parabola equation of convergent nozzle on flow field by adjusting nozzles’ interior figure parameters. The distribution of pressure and velocity of gas jet are shown in the investigation. A conical nozzle with cone angle of 30° and a convergent nozzle described by the parabola equation of y=0.207x2 are designed and produced for the laser cutting experiment. Numerical simulation and experimental results are given at the end of the paper.

This paper presents an experimental investigation of throttling characteristics of a multi-wedge air inlet of a wind tunnel built for flat flow field at M = 2.5. The experiments were performed in a wind tunnel at M numbers of 2.55, 3.05 and 4.05. Results of numerical simulation of the flow in the air inlet, where air flow restriction was implemented by additional heating of the flow in the channel past the air inlet, are given for comparison. Experimental throttling characteristics are in good agreement with the values obtained from computations

A practical optimal design method of supersonic nozzle is proposed for a supersonic wind tunnel’s design. Design a set of nozzle wall lines with the same nozzle length and different Mach numbers 1.5, 2.0, 2.5. Use numerical simulation method for the verify and analysis of the designed nozzle. Mainly study the impact of the installation gradient between nozzle and test section on flow field quality. This wind tunnel is the subsonic, transonic and supersonic wind tunnel and its test section cross is 0.2 m × 0.2 m .The impact on flow field quality of the test section was studied quantitatively by using the numerical simulation method. The installation gradient index was given. It has some practical value to the construction of supersonic wind tunnel. At present, this study has been applied in construction of the wind tunnel. The gradient of the test section import shall not be greater than 0.5 mm.

In this study, the effect of blade curve on the power coefficient of a Savonius rotor is investigated by means of numerical simulation and wind tunnel tests. The tests were conducted on six rotors with identical dimensions but different blade curves, and the influences of blade curve and Reynolds number were studied. Followed by a simulation of the flow field around rotors with identical semi-circular curves and different overlaps, torque was calculated using pressure distribution on the blade surface, and the effect of Reynolds number and blade curve were studied on torque as well. Results indicate that changing the blade curve affects the power coefficient and torque by causing different drag coefficients. Also the rotor that yields the highest power coefficient and torque in one revolution compared with other rotors is highlighted.
