Abstract. Haryono, Wahyudewantoro G. 2020. The alien freshwater fish of Mount Galunggung, West Java, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 21: 1401-1408. Mt. Galunggung, located in West Java, Indonesia, is an active volcano renowned for its deadly eruption in 1982. This area has many waters bodies, but the fish communities have not been recorded, especially the alien or introduced fish species. Hence, the objective of the present study was to determine the alien fish diversity, abundance, local distribution and utilization in Galunggung vicinity. The study was done in March 2013 using survey method covering 10 stations. Fish sampling was based on catch per unit of effort (CPUE) using mainly electrofishing, gillnet and cast net. A total of 24 species were recorded during the survey, in which 13 were listed as introduced species. Poecilia reticulata was the dominant species with 7.4 ind./St and followed by Xiphophorus helleri with 5.3 ind./St. Both species were also widely distributed on the sites with 70% local distribution. The alien species in this area are mostly used for ornamental fish.

This study aimed to assess fish diversity and its related aspects in the Sawal Mountain Region, the watershed Citanduy in Ciamis, West Java, Indonesia. The study was conducted by grouping into four zones based on forest condition and the order of the river. The fisheswere sampled by using elektrofishing. This study recorded 12 species which Barbodes binotatus is the most abundant and widely local distributed, i.e. 20.09 individu/station and occupied 78.60 % of the area. Based on species status, as much as 75% species have wide geography distribution (common species) and the rest was introduced species. As much as 50% (6 species) have the potency as consumption fish, 25% (3 species) as ornamental fish, 17% (2 species) both as ornamental and consumption, and 8% (1 species) is stil unknown for the benefit.

In the present work Trichodina reticulata and T. nobilis (Ciliophora: Trichodinidae) are morphologically characterised from ornamental freshwater fish culture in the State of Santa Catarina, Brazil. The prevalence of infection and a list of comparative measurements are discussed. We examined "southern platyfish" Xiphophorus maculatus (n = 35), "goldfish" Carassius auratus (n = 31), "guppy" Poecilia reticulata (n = 20), "sailfin molly" Poecilia latipinna (n = 6), "beta" Betta splendens (n = 2) and "spotted headstander" Chilodus punctatus (n = 1). After being anesthetised in a benzocaine solution, fishes were examined for parasitological evaluation. A total of 51.57% fishes were parasitised by Trichodina spp. Carassius auratus was the most parasitised species, followed by X. maculatus and P. reticulata. Beta splendens, C. punctatus and P. latipinna were not parasitised by any trichodinid species. Two species of Trichodina were collected from the skin of fish: T. nobilis was found in C. auratus, P. reticulata and X. maculatus and T. reticulata was only observed in C. auratus. The importance of adequate handling in ornamental fish culture are also discussed.

Abstract. Pomacentridae has a wide distribution in Indonesia waters. Research on species richness of Pomacentridae has been carried out in some areas in Indonesia. However, there are no data about the relationships of Pomacentridae on the southern coast of West Java. This research aims to know the evolutionary kinship of Pomacentridae ornamental fish in Ujung Genteng and Taman Manalusu Beach, West Java. This research used a survey method with a judgment sampling technique. The parameters measured were the consistency index (CI) and character evolution of the resulting phylogenetic tree. Cladogram reconstructed based on maximum parsimony algorithm with 1000 bootstrap replicates in PAUP software. The result showed that the tree had a CI value of 0.6000 which indicated low homoplasy. Pomacentridae formed a monophyletic group when they compared with Chaetodon collare as outgroup. The Pomacentridae clade divided into two subclades. The first subclade consisted of Abudefduf indicus as a basal species, then Neoglypydodon bonang and Plectroglyphidodon lacrymatus have a closed kinship and diverged after Dascyllus trimaculatus, and then Abudefduf notatus and Abudefduf sexfaciatus have a close kinship and diverged after Abudefduf vaigiensis. The second subclade referred to as a basal group, and within this subclade, Chrysiptera brownriggii has a closely related to Chrysiptera unimaculata and diverged after Chromis opercularis.Keywords: Cladistics, damselfish, meristic, morphometric, Pomacentridae

Sulawesi Tengah Province (Sulteng) is in the Wallacea region wich have endemic fish. In addition, the government has also introduced fish for the welfare of community. So far the records of freshwater fish in Sulteng have not been well summarized. Therefore, we explore the results of previous studies fish species in 11 lakes and their inlet rivers in Sulteng. The lake (L) is L. Bolano (Bolanosau), L. Lindu, L. Poso, L. Rano, L. Rano Kodi and L. Rano Bae, L. Sibili, L. Talaga (Dampelas), L. Kalimpa’a (Tambing), L. Tiu and L. Wanga. In addition, we also observed fish in seven lakes between 2012-2019. Fishing uses cast net, seine net, gillnet, and hook and line. Summary and observation result showed that there were 18 families and 27 genera of fish in 11 lake and their inlet rivers in Sulteng. Then there are 15 endemic species in 3 habitats (Lindu, Poso and Tiu), namely Adrianichthys 4 species, Oryzias 6 species, Mugilogobius 2 species and Nomorhamphus 3 species. Introduced fish as many as 23 species, Oreochromis niloticus the most found (8 lakes). Lake Poso (30 species) has the most fish species. Utilization of fish in 11 lake as consumption fish and ornamental fish. Especially for endemic fish, in situ (habitat) and / or ex situ (aquaculture) conservation needs to be carried out in order to remain sustainable. Through aquaculture, the breeding of endemic species that have the potential as ornamental fish and/or consumption can be avoided from exploitation (overfishing) in nature.

Indonesia has many freshwater fish species but not recorded with completely, one of them from Banten Province especially in Pulosari Mountain areas of Pandeglang Regency. This study aimed to assess fish diversity, abundance, local distribution, potency, species status, bioecology aspects, and habitat condition. The study was conducted in September 2015 using survey methods. The site study was divided in five stations, the fishing gear mainly electrofishing and completed by cast net with diameter 2.5 meter. The operational of fishing gears using CPUE (catch per unit of efforts). Fish sample counted based on number of species and number of individuals for each species, then preserved and identified. Specimens were deposited in the Museum Zoologicum Bogoriense (MZB) Cibinong. The results recorded 12 species belonging to 11 families. St.2 (Cilagra river) is the most diverse with 8 species, following St.4 (Cijeruk lower) with 7 species. Barbodes binotatus is the most dominant species (19.2 ind./St.) and also widespread (100%). Two introduce species were found i.e. Poecillia reticulata and Oreochromis niloticus. Based on potency almost balance both consume and ornamental fish. The inland waters in these areas were suitable for fish habitat.

Labridae is a large and diverse fish family. Many species under Labridae inhabits Indonesian coral reefs. However, limited scientific data are available on ornamental fish diversity in Labridae from the South Coast of West Java. The purpose of the research is to give information about species diversity and phylogenetic relationships among species of Labridae fish family in the South Coast of West Java. This research will be conducted using a survey method with a purposive sampling technique. The observed parameters include morphometric and meristic characters and evolutionary relationships among species within  Labridae family species collected from the South Coast of Sukabumi and Garut, West Java. Morphological data will be analyzed descriptively based on morphometric and meristic data. Species-level identification performed by referring to the available identification guide book. Phylogenetic relationships will be analyzed statistically using cladistics method as implemented in PAUP 4.0 applying maximum parsimony algorithm.  The cladogram has a consistency index of 0.563, indicating low homoplasy and proved that the tree was the most parsimonious. Labridae formed monophyletic clade compared to Acanthurus maculiceps, and Cheilio inermis was basal species while the others derived species.

Cipanas River is one river in West Java where its upstream region in Tampomas Mountain, Sumedang and it is emptied into the Java Sea, Indramayu. The study was aimed to investigate fish diversity in the downstream area of Cipanas River. The study was conducted by survey methods with census data collection techniques, taken place at 3 stations of Santing, Tempalong, and Cemara of Indramayu Regency. The parameters measured consisted water quality and fish assemblages. Water quality was measured referring to standard laboratory protocol, and fish collection was made by case net with different mesh sizes. The results showed that water quality conditions of the Cipanas River downstream was suitable for inhabiting fishes. There were as many as 548 individual fishes caught belonging to 21 species, 16 genera, and 14 families. Fish diversity was categorized as medium with 1.6 ≤ H ’≤ 2.2 indicating fairly good community structure, and the Evenness index was 0.81 ≤ E ≤ 0.86 to show highly evenly distributed.

This research aims to analyze the base commodity and income levels of freshwater fish farmers.  The research is conducted by survey method in which location was chosen purposively at Pagelaran and Lugusari Villages, Pagelaran Subdistrict of Pringsewu Regency with consideration that the location are the central of freshwater fish production (minapolitan areas).  The samples are 44 freshwater fish farmers who are members of fish farmers group with farming experience of more than five years.  The data was collected in June to July 2017 and is analyzed by Location Quotient (LQ) analysis to determine base commodity and fish farming analysis to identify income level of freshwater fish farmers.  The result of LQ analysis and fish farming analysis showed that the main base commodity was goldfish with LQ score 1,18 and the highest income level from three business focus (breeding business, enlargement business, also the breeding and enlargement business of goldfish) was an enlargement business of goldfish with an income value of Rp1,556,440.29/1,000 m2/month.Key words: base sector, freshwater fish, goldfish, income, main commodity
