When processing hard-to-process stainless steels, it is difficult to maintain a compromise between the quality of the treated surface, processing performance and the period of operation of the cutting tool to the permissible value of its wear. The more specialized the physical and mechanical characteristics and performance properties of such steel, the more difficult it is to reach a compromise. The paper shows the results of controlling the parameters of the cutting mode to ensure the required roughness parameters when turning highly corrosion-resistant stainless steels 09H17N7YU, 12H18N10T and 13H15N5 AM-3.

Settlement dependences on determining the vibration characteristics of the machined workpieces, taking into account geometric, physical and mechanical characteristics and the force impact from the side of the cutting tool are established. In determining the dependences the effective coefficient of vibration energy losses was taken into account, providing the required value of which, is achieved by reducing vibration in the source due to the use of vibration-absorbing materials.

The 1.4301 stainless steel is part of the category of austenitic stainless steels, steels which do no undergo heat treatments in general, as they are intended for hot plastic deformation in particular. The aim of the research presented in this paper was to obtain significantly improved characteristics of the resistance properties in relation to the values obtained under classical conditions, by applying heat treatments. Samples taken from the delivery state material underwent annealing, quenching and ageing heat treatments. Subsequently, the samples thus treated were subjected to tests enabling the determination of the correlations between the heat treatment parameters, the structure and the properties.

Passive film of stainless steels possesses good corrosion resistant property. However, the passive film formed in nature is not uniform and the quality is not consistent. It is the major causes for local corrosion. The pitting potential test is a traditional method to test local corrosion of stainless steels. The local corrosion is usually induced by the break-down of the passive film. Therefore, it can be utilized to evaluate the quality of the passive film. Also, because the pitting test is quick and inexpensive, many tests can be performed to evaluate the uniformity of the passive film. This study focuses on SS316 stainless steel. The specimens were treated with electropolishing processes. The original and the processed specimens were tested by pitting potential tests. From these results, the distribution and the uniformity of passive film could be evaluated. An efficient and inexpensive index of the uniformity of the passive film is proposed.

AbstractCement mortars and concretes incorporating clinoptilolite, silica fume and fly ash were investigated for changes in their physical and mechanical properties. It was found that additions of 10% clinoptilolite and 10% Pozzolite (1:1 mixture of silica fume and fly ash) were optimal for improvement of the quality of the hardened products, giving 8% and 13% increases in flexural and compressive strength respectively. The specific pore volume of the mortars incorporating zeolite decreased between the 28th and 180th day to levels below the values for the control composition due to the fact that clinoptilolite exhibits its pozzolanic activity later in the hydration. In these later stages, pores with radii below 500 nm increased at the expense of larger pores. The change in the pore-size distribution between the first and sixth months of hydration occurs mostly in the mortars with added zeolite.

 Concrete as the most used material, is known as an integral part of construction. So far, many studies have been done in the field of improving the quality of concrete that most of them have examined change in concrete mix which is called concrete mix plan. However, the use of additives and also replacing commonly used materials in concrete with new materials always has been noteworthy. In this study, description of tests that have been done on fiber reinforced concrete will be discussed. Also, the condition of concrete mix plan will be discussed. More and more often, oil fields need to handle wet sour gases which contain high proportions of carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide. Furthermore, the liquid phase contains water with chlorides. Therefore, pitting corrosion and stress corrosion cracking may occur. Centrifugal compressors used on oil fields for increasing the pressure levels, require components which must be resistant to be efficient, but nevertheless cheap for an industrial solution. A corrosion resistant material with high mechanical characteristics is necessary. Duplex stainless steels which have been widely developed and experimented on off-shore applications, are a good way to achieve this challenge. They must be solution annealed to withstand severe corrosion conditions. This paper deals with the metallurgical aspects and the major influence of heat treatments, and with the manufacturing process of two major components : the casing and the rotor. This new centrifugal compressor, designed for a highly sour gas service, with 87% of acid compoaents, is dedicated to a process of sulphur elimination from the flare gas for environmental protection reasons. It has been operating since the beginning of 1995 by GASCO in Abu Dhabi.

This work indicates that the prediction of the geometric indicators of the quality of the machined surface in the design of technological operations for milling a profile surface of work-pieces with low rigidity is possible, on the basis of an analysis of the elastic displacements of the technological system elements, the flexural rigidity of the work-piece as a function of its initial dimensions, the locating chart and the physical and mechanical characteristics of the material being processed. The article describes the characteristics of the elements of the technological system for the profile milling of work-pieces of low rigidity; The analytical dependencies linking the elastic displacements of the work-piece during the processing of various wood species with elements of the milling mode and the design parameters of the mill are given. Extreme total elastic displacements of the technological system during the cutting process are determined. Mathematical models of the maximum geometric error of the machined surface, as a function of the work-piece's flexural rigidity and the spindle unit, are established. Based on the results of the analysis, recommendations for improving the accuracy of the product were developed.

A promising direction in producing the special-purpose plates is to increase their physical and mechanical characteristics, reduce toxicity, and use highperformance equipment. The article analyzes the results of experiments to determine the physicomechanical parameters of particle board. Using a colloidal solution of nanosilver, the optimal models of layer-by-layer introduction of nanosilver into the structure of particle board (as a formaldehyde absorber) are determined. The use of colloidal solutions of nanosized particles of various metals significantly improves a number of operational and technological properties of materials that would raise the quality of life of people to a new health-saving level. The article is an overview based on the principles of a systematic approach to using the sound methods and techniques of scientific research and contevporary means of scientific investigation.


With the development and introduction of technologies for the production of composite materials for construction purposes in Russia appeared composite flexible ties, anchors, fittings, etc. These materials and products are not fundamentally new and have previously been studied for use for reinforcing concrete or structural elements. However, for increasing the bearing capacity of stone structures as masonry meshes they were practically not used, while masonry mesh is one of the most demanded materials in construction. The article presents experimental studies of composite meshes of different types and performance technology used in masonry. Experimentally substantiated and normalized values of physical and mechanical characteristics of rods for composite polymer grids are obtained. The evaluation of efficiency of composite meshes in masonry is made, the values of crack forming and rupture loads are determined, the peculiarities of the stress-strain state of composite grids as flexible ties are revealed, the fields of application are formulated.
